This was my first Souls-like combat game (I’ve only really played FPS and Elder Scrolls). I started out on Master, because that’s where Mr. Jahns said to start. Surprisingly I didn’t do too bad, because I think the Ori games helped me out a lot because they brutalized me with timing. If you have mastered timing in another genre, it translates pretty well here. That skill will make or break you for this game. It can be a harsh learning curve, but don’t turn down the difficulty. The feeling after beating that boss that’s been handing you your butt for the past two hours is one of the greatest rewards in gaming:)
@@1blukirk Sekiro is made by the same studio that made Dark Souls, but its combat goes a little further making blocking and parrying its core instead of rolling.
@@1blukirk don't bring your saltiness here. I like the souls games and appreciate the faster paced direction of sekiro's combat. Easier or not, this games combat is directly taken from Sekiro. @corniel I mentioned W3 cuz it it has both a sidestep and dodgeroll mechanic. Nioh has both as well. I like both games quite a bit. Why wouldn't I get this one if it plays the same?
Now all we need is a new KOTOR style game. Even if they change it from turn based to gameplay like this, the customization and character creation would be great.
No it isn't. That last tip in the video is exactly why it isn't. It took me a while to get out of Sekiro muscle memory and stop trying to parry the same way
The combat system is actually a lot better than sekiro, but the enemies , even the bosses just don't hold up even on the last two difficulties. People should just start on grandmaster if they want a challenge honestly.
It makes me so nervous when playing the game, when you havent seen a checkpoint in 30 mins and have next to no life.... please dont die, please dont die ....
not braging but i only died the first time cuz i didnt know her patterns then killed her witouth even the need of a stim ( jedi master mode ) just freez her at the right time and get the skill that restore your force bar with a stim, easy.
Me too. Combat in Sekiro feeks somehow much more responsive, sharp, pure. Everything just clicks and combines so well and elegantly. But here it's somehow clunky and have to fight with the controller and the character to make it do what is needed.
@Mr.J Aha, yes, now that you said it, it makes perfect sense. I got the same feeling from Witcher 3 as well and couldn't figure out why is it feels as it feels and why I don't like it :D Mystery solved.
@Mr.J And that's the problem. Your attacks have a long animation, whereas enemies often chain moves ridiculously fast. Sometimes their weapons don't even return to their original position after a swing, they just start another swing from the middle, even though the weapon was on their right side one frame before. This is unacceptable, because their attacks are not telegraphed and sometimes they are so fast that it's physically impossible for you to parry. Like actually physically impossible. As in the time necessary for Cal to draw his sword up to parry is longer than the enemy needs to start and land a hit. It has also happened that I swung my sword at the enemy when he was just standing still, and his animations were so fast that he literally had the time to start and land the attack before my lightsaber hit him, even though I started the swing when it was safe, and there is no way for me to cancel it. This eventually led to me just abusing the environment, and either pushing stronger enemies off ledges or rolling around the arena until I could catch them in the middle of two hits. It's especially annoying in boss battles. On higher difficulties, it is bassically impossible to beat lightsaber bosses like an actual Jedi would, because you are physically slower than them.
The game really reminds you that it's made by respawn I lost count of how many times I've seen it every time I die Still I've played the whole game in jedi grandmaster and I still found sekiro harder
Only thing I wish was different was point number 9. It was satisfying to be able to time your parries properly during a flurry attack to block each individual hit in Sekiro.
Great tips.IMO Respawn did everything right with the entire game, not just the combat.Im glad its challenging and not a button masher.Having an amazing time playing.Game of the year!!!

I wish I knew about the rocket storm troopers, I had to stay close to the other troopers so the rocket splash damage would hit them and I BARELY dodge them on time
For those who've played, are the lightsaber attack directions predetermined, or can you use directions and combination of directions to precisely angle the swing of the sword like Jedi Academy?
I just played on story and the game was easy fun. The games only hard if you are a try hard who thinks you have something to prove to your online gamer friends. But I'm getting better at parrying and timed dodging so I'm not awful now. Still hit frustrating moments though.
I’ve never played anything with this sort of combat mechanics before and I’m finding it extremely hard - which unfortunately makes the overall experience less enjoyable for me - I guess I need to give it more time .
I finally 100% this game yesterday. Best star wars game in years! What I don't get though is I have been hearing people say it is buggy? Is that a console thing? On pc it is smooth as heck and I really haven't seen many bugs. Also I use doublesabre constantly lol. I prefer to overwhelm enemies with a constant flurry of attacks and break their guard that way. If you do fast melees and follow it up with a strong spin attack it normally knocks most of the harder troopers back.

The temple guards on Zeffo Scared the hell out of me
Same, reminded me of those dwemer centurions from Skyrim 😬
honestly the only things i’m truly scared of are security droids. they look mean!
Sdark War:Uncharted Jedi Die Twice
This is accurate
Accurate asf
Do you mean star uncharted wars raider jedi die twice?
Sekiro combat with Witcher 3 dodge mechanics?! Thats a great combo. Must buy for me.
Y0U2BER sekrio stole it from souls Witcher as well
* dark souls combat but easier! This is great. A must buy for me.
Fixed it.
@@1blukirk Sekiro is made by the same studio that made Dark Souls, but its combat goes a little further making blocking and parrying its core instead of rolling.
Dodging in W3 is lame
Kirkland Brown sekiro and darksouls are completely different in terms of fighting
Welcome back classic Star Wars gaming.
Now all we need is a new KOTOR style game. Even if they change it from turn based to gameplay like this, the customization and character creation would be great.
@@underachiever8532 💯 to both comments. Let's go star wars
Zakkary Andersen combat in kotor is unbearable for me, if it had a system like this, i would play it over and over
I started this game on the hardest difficulty without realizing it so i just thought it was super hard😂
To beat ogdo easier there's a way to get up on the area where you fight the guy and you'll drop down on him and hit square and take half his health
This is literally Sekiro: Star Wars edition.
Edit: to clarify, that isn't a bad thing!
and that's EXACTLY why i will play it
Except it's slower and smaller... I will play it for the lightsaber customisation and puzzles tho
@@thickac7579 true but I think that the combat/animations are equal. Sekiro just has glorious bosses compared to this. The second sister is nice tho
This game has the WORST saves I’ve ever had to deal with
And loading times bro
It’s intentional so there is some consequence to loss.
What uncle fred said, taps into that retro metroid prime feeling. Also be sure to always stop at meditation spots since they act as autosaves
It makes me so nervous when playing the game, when you havent seen a checkpoint in 30 mins and have next to no life.... please dont die, please dont die ....
No fast travel
I definitely didn’t switch to story mode during the final battle
Shameless
I have to admit I did that with the odgo bogga (or whatever) fight in the beginning
not braging but i only died the first time cuz i didnt know her patterns then killed her witouth even the need of a stim ( jedi master mode ) just freez her at the right time and get the skill that restore your force bar with a stim, easy.
@@krispykicks7766
You can always go back to the planet again, dont worry
@@gunnerr8476 I still beat him, just on story mode 😔
"Make sure to scan though enemies" - scans a splox.
I got a tip
Put it on the easiest difficulty
I had to go from 2nd Easiest to 2nd hardest. Much more enjoyable at higher difficulty
3:26 that purge trooper was very convenient for me since he was right at the very edge of the platform. one push instead of endless dodging
Love this game but damn it makes me appreciate Sekiro so much more.
Me: a giant frog cant be so bad, can it?
The giant frog: Bro, you have no idea how many steroids i consume per day... do you?
I had to lower the difficulty so many times to even get by and still finding it hard wow
i had to cheese my way through ogdo bogdo i stood at the entrance since he can’t go through i’d hit a few times and back up rinse and repeat
The game really reminds you that it's made by respawn I lost count of how many times I've seen it every time I die
Still I've played the whole game in jedi grandmaster and I still found sekiro harder
After watching this, may brain leveled up to Jedi Master from repair Droid
Only thing I wish was different was point number 9. It was satisfying to be able to time your parries properly during a flurry attack to block each individual hit in Sekiro.
Another tip about the rightsaber: you can use the double bladed lightsaber to easily deflect lots of bullets
The most useful part of this vid was about lesser nydacks
Forreal tho that was the tip I actually learned a lot from
Great tips.IMO Respawn did everything right with the entire game, not just the combat.Im glad its challenging and not a button masher.Having an amazing time playing.Game of the year!!!
Lowkey managed to kill an AT-ST really quickly without losing hardly any health several times and that’s still an accomplishment for me :’)
When you have force push and there is a ledge
.....🙃
The first couple of hours the combat felt very clunky, cause i was trying to enforce Souls/Sekiro habits on this game. Once i started playing this game differently, the combat felt so smooth and very enjoyable.
How ninja gaieden forced you to play and think like a ninja, this is what fallen order is gonna do. Only its gonna force you to fight and think like a jedi. Its a do, or do not.....there is no try.
I agree I wish there were a little stealth.
@@kurtblow28 I feel you but I get why it isn't. Im cool with it like this
I wish I knew about the rocket storm troopers, I had to stay close to the other troopers so the rocket splash damage would hit them and I BARELY dodge them on time
Dont used double sided all the time
Me: Beats game on Jedi Master difficulty with only double sided
btw amazing game
I never used double bladed because using single just felt better, but it made the game so much more difficult lol
MetalTessai if the double bladed has as much damage as the single bladed no1 will be using the single bladed LOL
For me, playing on Jedi Grand Master is harder than any of the dark souls games (I've finished all 3).
Thanks this really helped🙏
I have had a lot of problems with the combat
For those who've played, are the lightsaber attack directions predetermined, or can you use directions and combination of directions to precisely angle the swing of the sword like Jedi Academy?
No it’s more like Sekiro or ninja gaiden
I probably needed this reminder to be patient
I just played on story and the game was easy fun. The games only hard if you are a try hard who thinks you have something to prove to your online gamer friends. The ideal difficulty is probably the one just above story. Quit trying to scare people away from the game pretending like it's dark souls. I know that I almost skipped the game entirely because of comments like that.
It took me the whole game to learn how to properly block and counter
I play most games on the last or second to last difficulty but when i died in the first mission 3 times and barely beat Second Sister in one go i decided to go with the story mode difficulty. Not ashamed at all lol
Watched this early on in my play through at it really helped
Figuring out the parry window is the hardest part, but the most important thing to concentrate on early.
Rolling *toward* your enemy allows you to still be in range and take advantage of the uppercut slash move which does big damage.
Wow the rocket push was super cool
*really makes you feel like Dark Souls*
I've finally gotten Jedi Fallen Order from PS Plus and find it comforting to know that Ogdo Bogdo wasn't only a problem for myself
This game is a ton of fun and yes its very hard at times.Im on Dathomir right now and the nightbrothers are a pain but I still manage to beat them
Me trying to defeat the first toad enemy for like an hour on multiple trials, and then I gave up saying “I’ll come back to you when I’m a whole lot levelled up and stronger”... 7mins into the next area, I see another toad enemy, and I’m like “oh sh*t, I have to get stronger NOW” Damn difficulty lol
love this game i never risked paryring the bigger guys but now i will, thanks man
What’s surprising to me there are a lot of yolo puzzles and terrain where you just jump blindly into a abyss to make it to the next section! Makes my heart jump and I look forward to the next 🧩
This game was a nice surprise to me, i love it
super helpful, thanks!
Fallen order is the ratchet and clank of my adult age
1:24 that reminds of me the Witcher 3 hearts of stone where you have to kill the frog in the Sewer
I love this game but sometimes it’s so difficult, also I feel like they pulled you from using the force.. you can barely use it before it depletes..
Tips for fighting purge troops (im playing on story mode) slow them down then dash on them that does alot off damage
Purge trooper n video can be killed with a force push off the edge at the beginning of that fight lol
I haven't played a dark souls esq game in a long time and I stuck with mainly RPGs and fps. Needless to say it took me a while to adjust my mentality away from standing my ground and trying to do as much damage as possible. But I'm getting better at parrying and timed dodging so I'm not awful now. Still hit frustrating moments though.
Strong in the Force, this channel is. Grateful, am I.
I’ve never played anything with this sort of combat mechanics before and I’m finding it extremely hard - which unfortunately makes the overall experience less enjoyable for me - I guess I need to give it more time .
Just lower the difficulty. There's no shame on that.
Thank you for your advice on the game.
Do or do not, there is no HESITATION
Great Tips. Wish I knew this before hand :(
Loved the guide thx ❤️
The story is so original and much better than the Sequel Trilogy.
I had to rewatch as the first time I kept listening to the Jean Michel-Jarre like music in the background
Yeah for whatever reason I thought all creatures you blocked/dodged, until I accidently set up a parry/stagger on the Oggdo mini boss. Now I'm always trying to find stagger/parry windows on EVERY NEW CREATURE, which means dying a lot playing on hardest difficulty =/ BUT IS REWARDING WHEN YOU FIND A NEW PARRY/STAGGER/ONE SHOT!
