Unfortunately these types of products take advantage of the fact that 90% of the population doesn't have a decent understanding of how a vehicle actually works. I actually think it's kind of unethical. When these companies put these marketing campaigns together, they clearly understand they are basing it on that. And they're good at it.
this product he used, i believe that it was... a finnish product called RVS. as in the video he says "new miracle oil additive"... ITS NOT OIL ADDITIVE. and also he did the treatment wrong... he used old oil to make the treatment and thats probably biggest thing he did wrong, it takes a lot of more driving to complete the treatment with old oil than new oil because its full of shit already. they did over 4000 miles on civic without oil and with 206 peugeot over 11 000km in finland. also this product is used a lot in drag racing and other motor sport and it is proofed to be working. on racing engines they last much longer before they need to change bearings... i use this product too in my 70's Lada, i had low pressure in 4th cylinder, after treatment and driving it for 2 weeks daily, the pressure on that same cylinder raised from 8bar up to 10,5bar. also this stuff does not drain off with the oil when changing oil... as he says it is not recommended to run without oil even with that miracle "additive", and thats because engines are different. also again his treatment went badly wrong
@@MrBanaanipommi I appreciate your passion for a product you have nothing to do with, but to put out an ad campaign that advertises you can run your car without oil is clearly trying to take advantage of people that will fall for it. That last advice, at least half a quart of oil in it. I had a 87 Corolla with 380,000km on the clock. My GF at the time had taken over driving it as I had another car and I had taught her about maintenance and checking the oil, so it was her responsibility. She came home one day and mentioned that the oil light had flickered on. I asked if it was while idling at the lights thinking maybe the oil was low and the pump was getting tired. Nope. At 80kmh on the highway…. Decided whelp, oil change time. Got 400ml of oil out of the sump and that was it. Somehow, it wasn’t glitterfest. New oil and sent her on her way. She put another 50,000km on it before we sold it. Soldiered on like a champ as if nothing happened.
Probably non interference engine as Toyota had many compared to some companies. Probably doesn't even matter if it broke lol plus they had many timing chain engines as well

90s cars were the best ever made cars in car history. They were the most beautiful in shape and design, and the best in reliability. I used to love cars when I was a kid in the 1990s. Now I'm 30 and only like cars that were made in the 90s because after that the quality and designs started going down.
I put that stuff in a knackered Vauxhall Chevette 1980 model 1.3 as it sounded bad I sold it 2 years later to a friend who begged me for it as I had purchased another car and he was with me when I did the slick 50 he still had it 10 years later and had never had a problem it had 260.000 miles on it. I am not saying it worked miracles because both him and I did regular services to it but that was the only additive used plus 2 alternators, many spark plugs distributor caps sets of leads points rotor arms and condensers.
It's good to see how well Toyota is built but it hurts to see my favorite brand being destroyed. My car over heated once and stalled I think because I had a leaking hose but never destroyed it
Those things last forever! I have a silver 1993 Camry wagon with a 3VZ-FE with about 257,000 miles on its original engine and counting. Also, it has its original AC and Transmission. The only problem was that the exhaust needed to be fixed because it was noisy. Everything else was just oil changes. Best car ever! Do this with a Pontiac Sunbird and see how long it lasts!
Best cars ever made. I want to get another one. Bought it with 240k miles and had it totalled at 290k..The engine and transmission are bulletproof to 300k. Mine still worked like a charm. Only downside? Horsepower isn't exactly generous in the 4cyl.

Off topic, but I still feel it's relevant. Couldn't help but comment cause I got so excited when I saw the title and description (maybe this fact should be cause for embarrassment). Anyways, seven or eight years ago I was given a 1996 Toyota Corolla for free after my car got stolen, which I brought from closer to 300k miles to closer to 400k miles during my 1+ year of ownership. I had to drive it at least 90 miles highway driving and 20 miles city driving every day through NJ/NY. The thing needed a few quarts of oil every couple of days. The transmission fluid appeared to completely drain about once a week, though this was for some reason slightly variable. I was absolutely not allowed to park it in any of my friend's or family's driveways as huge stains would quickly appear if there was any fluid in it. I'm pretty sure it was a mobile EPA disaster and led to the death of an old pine tree I would park under at home instead of the shared driveway (RIP). Money was super tight, and what I could save was only going to a new car. This led to me having to decide whether my car was going to get oil/TF or enough gas to get home. To my shock an almost complete lack of lubricants seemed to have no effect on what I began to refer to as a my "miracle of mid-90's Japanese engineering." I would go weeks without adding oil or transmission fluid, there must have only been tablespoons in there, driving an hour at 80 mph one way and maybe an hour in stop-and-go on the way back. Didn't show any signs of excessive wear or heat, no weird noises or unusual vibrations, though I guess something must have been getting damaged. Plus, I was even getting about 33 mpg at times. I don't know for sure since I haven't tried, but I imagine other cars would quickly succumb to this kind of abuse. I was actually sad to let it go, even though the power steering was completely broken since day one, as well as the exhaust which meant it was loud and would fill with fumes if I got completely stuck in traffic. I did spend a few hours shooting hockey pucks at it with friends before sending it off to the junkyard, so it was a fond farewell. Anyways, thanks for the awesome video and bringing back some memories.
I'm really disappointed you destroyed this amazing car. A child in Africa could've eaten this engine.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I enjoyed this comment. Although, you may have noticed, we're not knocking anymore...
These just refuse to die! Good timing, I’m changing the oil on mine tomorrow. 79,000KMs from new, been in the family since new. Purchased new by my grandfather, I inherited it when he passed away in 2012. Since then, it’s been the weekender.
12:03 ..when a dying 30yr old Toyota sounds like every VW TDi
Ikr those things sound like they're constantly on their last legs
Volkswagen TDI's are very reliable, especially the good old 1.9 TDI, and non turbo SDI
Unfortunately these types of products take advantage of the fact that 90% of the population doesn't have a decent understanding of how a vehicle actually works. I actually think it's kind of unethical. When these companies put these marketing campaigns together, they clearly understand they are basing it on that. And they're good at it.
Buyer beware.
this product he used, i believe that it was... a finnish product called RVS. as in the video he says "new miracle oil additive"... ITS NOT OIL ADDITIVE. and also he did the treatment wrong... he used old oil to make the treatment and thats probably biggest thing he did wrong, it takes a lot of more driving to complete the treatment with old oil than new oil because its full of shit already.
they did over 4000 miles on civic without oil and with 206 peugeot over 11 000km in finland.
also this product is used a lot in drag racing and other motor sport and it is proofed to be working. on racing engines they last much longer before they need to change bearings...
i use this product too
in my 70's Lada, i had low pressure in 4th cylinder, after treatment and driving it for 2 weeks daily, the pressure on that same cylinder raised from 8bar up to 10,5bar.
also this stuff does not drain off with the oil when changing oil...
as he says it is not recommended to run without oil even with that miracle "additive", and thats because engines are different. also again his treatment went badly wrong
@@MrBanaanipommi I appreciate your passion for a product you have nothing to do with, but to put out an ad campaign that advertises you can run your car without oil is clearly trying to take advantage of people that will fall for it. It's over the top and ridiculous. There's nothing more that needs to be said on that topic.
@@rhull3939 they really do not recommend to run it without oil... but is possible for thousands of miles and they have done it on few different cars.
you just dont get it. in this video he did it wrong. the coating was not even close to be ready and thats why it could not run for long without oil... and no. i did not choose that product because that but it will increase my engine's lifetime by 10x at least.
@@rhull3939 i never seen that kind of ad campaign tho...
I can’t believe they ask you to run your engine with no oil to “install” this product. An engine should never run without oil It doesn’t matter if the cylinder walls are made of Teflon. It will still cause damage
I believe he contacted them to get those specific instructions to perform the experiment
Lol yes
They don't. He made a huge error in reading the instructions. You drain the oil, refill and install the second bottle of treatment.
@@raciandmaddy5886 If he did, someone made a big mistake typing out the instructions because I've done the treatment to all my cars and at no point you run it without oil. Doing so would be totally nuts.

I had one of this car with over 400 thousand kilometres & because it was leaking at times I would say I’ll drive it until it dies, so many times & you couldn’t tell the difference. I ended up selling it for 300$ bucks. I have so much respect for this car!!
I would expect Garage 54 to do this to a car, but not you Legit Street Cars, not you. 😔
I had a 2001 V6, all leather sunroof.. loaded. It had 215k miles when I bought it. Had it for 3 years. Only ever changed the tires, brakes and gas filler tube in those 3 years. When I sold it there was almost 240k on it. I sold it for $200 bucks so my buddy could demolition derby it. He ended up coming in second place after 3 events. It still ran (ish) but wouldn't drive. These cars are something special, if it wasn't so rusted out I wouldn't of sold it. But the rust would of never passed NY inspection

I'm glad to see someone willing to do what it takes to thoroughly debunk things like magical, snake oil engine additives
If this works then I'm gonna buy one of those "6 pack in 30 days with this electric ab contractor" from TV shop!
My dad had one lol . Doesn’t work .
Alternate title: How *NOT* to check the timing belt on a 90s Camry...
Probably non interference engine as Toyota had many compared to some companies. Probably doesn't even matter if it broke lol plus they had many timing chain engines as well
I think you are totally right about the mystery product 4,000 mile test. They probably drained the oil and with that bit left in the pan it worked fine for a while.
“When it runs, rip this off slam the hood and let’s go!” That was fucking funny
90s camry: "I only need one mouthful of oil to run you pansies!"
My Dad bought one jus like this 96 Camry LE brand new...one of the best cars ever!
I feel like the term "ceramic coat" is the new snake oil, lots of products on the market using that buzzword
Unlike snake-oil, ceramic coating has a very strong upper hands in cookware compared to Teflon in aspects such as durability and efficacy.
And I don't even have fucking content on my channel so you know I ain't sponsored, this is straight out of experience, I want you to be able to trust ceramic cookware, by that shit way better than Teflon you don't get no sticking or no fucking polyethylene in your food
The company that sent him the product has been around since 2001 though, long before ceramic coatings became a fad.
It works and I have personal experience on that. This guy made a huge error, he drained the oil and let it idle for 30 minutes when he was supposed to refill the oil, insert the second bottle and then let it idle. He basically destroyed the engine even before the test started.
It is a remarkable statement on just how good that engine was

90s cars were the best ever made cars in car history. They were the most beautiful in shape and design, and the best in reliability. I used to love cars when I was a kid in the 1990s. Now I'm 30 and only like cars that were made in the 90s because after that the quality and designs started going down.
I agree
My cousin bought a 1995 Toyota Camry last year and you're darn right, the engine in them is virtually indestructible.
I remember Slick50 when I was a teenager. It "coated" the internals with teflon.
Project farm put it in an engine and it actually did last much longer than without.
Teflon 😱😱 watch dark waters
I remember those commercials for Slick 50 when I would watch Motor Trend or Hot Rod TV.
@@mclarenjohnf1 Slick 50 is junk.... It only chokes up an oil filter

Hahahey Randy
To my shock an almost complete lack of lubricants seemed to have no effect on what I began to refer to as a my "miracle of mid-90's Japanese engineering."
I would go weeks without adding oil or transmission fluid, there must have only been tablespoons in there, driving an hour at 80 mph one way and maybe an hour in stop-and-go on the way back.
Got a v6 leaking hella oil and this proved my point I can drive it with little to none
You should have slapped that oil pan back when he went in to the office. 😁

These old cars have a soul. I hate to see them destroyed.
I think the original Slick 50 formula, back in the 70s and 80s, could treat an engine to run 100 miles, without oil. Only the original formula.
