15:57 We made a mistake! Nicholas Ong's Krookodile was NOT Power Trip. We've just been informed that it was actually a standard darkinium set. We apologize for this mistake! Congratulations to Nicholas Ong for the 2nd place finish!
If always found krookodile to be really fun because he was really diverse, he could run intimidate, bulk up, moxie, scarf, band, power trip, stealth rock, snatch, taunt, he could do a lot
Hi, lower tier player here since Gen 5. Just wanted to point out one thing about Krookodile: it was actually RU in extremely early BW1, and it was a very strong sweeper in that tier when it existed in RU. It moved up to UU halfway in BW1 and was actually really good for a long time there because Moxie sweeping was fantastic in tandem with Deoxys-D setting hazards and with sets like CB and even Life Orb/Bulk Up it was a very competent cleaner/breaker in BW1 UU. BW2 is where it sort of fell apart because MoxieCross became a thing and tended to overshadow it as a cleaner. Even then it still had its niches because while it didn't have the raw power of Heracross, it functioned a bit differently. Its extra Speed tier+different STAB combo helped it quite a bit in outspeeding stuff like Nidoking, Scarf Flygon+Rotom-H, and Venomoth, and it had STAB Pursuit which came in handy at times. Not to mention its Electric immunity which was great for Raikou and the ability to revenge Chandelure when it was legal. Plus its STABs covered quite a few things in UU like Nidoqueen, Qwilfish, and vice versa especially after the meta became adapted to Fighting-types. It had a lot of stiff competition in BW2, but it still had a couple of valuable traits that kept it used. Also I never used Intimidate+Rocks in BW2 but I think that set would've been really fun to use in hindsight haha.
No cap ground is probably the best type offensively and dark can deal with ghost and psychic like no other, when this boi reaches lvl 40 is when things get interesting.

We'll see once the Isle of Armor update drops next month. Krook is my favorite ground type, so hopes to seeing it, and getting the feeling Dynamax would buff it on its end if that's the case, especially with Max Quake.
@@notscorchingsands9718 Hey, I always wanted them to make a move called "Aqua Fang", I even made up a description: "The user bites the target with water-infused fangs. If the target has a burn, this attack's power is doubled." I thought they'd make this move real in gen 8 but it didn't happen, although Fishious Rend is extremely close to what I predicted. I also want a move called "Dragon Sniff" (The user smells and identifies the target. This allows Fairy types to be hit with Dragon type moves.), but I know they'll never make this move. XD
I admittedly kind of like Krookodile's Shiny coloration, though it could've been better if the lining on its body stayed black or if it retained the blue stomach coloring. Also, let it get Ice Fang to help it beat Landorus.
usable defenses and health, reasonably fast, good attack and very dangerous with moxie, crookie here was allways one of my favorites in a gen 5 playthrough.
Also it has a specific but hugely important niche in gen 8 ou (but only for a while since urshifu was banned recently) Urshifu and it’s choice band Wicked Blows we’re tearing up the tier, 0khoing defensive behemoths such as ferrothorn. Wicked Blow’s gimmick is that it always lands in a critical hit, so Krookodile used its hidden ability Anger Point (which maxes a Pokémon’s attack when hit by a critical hit) and wielded a choice scarf to punish Wicked Blows and was one of the only ways to punish it for a while.
Krookodile is one of my favorite Pokémon of all time. With the Ground/Dark typing granting it two great immunities, awesome moves, and fun choice between Intimidate and Moxie, well, I rarely pass up the chance to use it.
I still remember how scary it was to face Krookodile in 2017. It's great that Ryota was able to take it to the top that year at Worlds. I actually was unaware he did well with it in 2015 too. It's unfortunate that it won't get a chance to shine again in Gen 8
@@trent800 Excadrill still has the stronk 135 atk, whiling Krookodile has 117 atk. Plus Excadrill has 2 less weaknesses and more resistances than Krookodile
Krookodile has to be one of my favorite Gen 5 mon (sure there are a lot, but still), I remember sweeping with its Moxie ability (I think that's what it's called in English) in one of my BW1 playthrough
Friendly Reminder: It is getting Close Combat, STAB Darkest Lariat, and for doubles STAB High Horsepower Now all it needs is Dragon Dance and Gunk Shot, well those and the ideally buffed Fire Fang (ideally to 75bp) and give it Ice Fang too whiling we're at it
It's odd that in this gen lots of Mons that aren't remotely horselike get High Horsepower. I know horsepower has nothing to do with horses, but come on, the move's animation literally shows a big horseshoe. XD
Oddly fitting for Mother’s Day and I have no idea why. Maybe it’s because of how crocs let their young ride their backs? Maybe it’s because my mom bought me Crocs? Hmm...
Honestly, Ash's unova team had the most diversity. It had the grass-fire-water core, it had boldore for being a physical wall, palpitoad for more bulk and coverage, and krookodile as his variety mon. In theory, this diversity is better than his gen 6 team. But again, just as you said, if only he had gigalith and/or seismitoad. This team's potential was severely wasted. This team couldve hit almost every single pokemon with a super effective move. This couldve been one of, if not, his strongest teams in the history of the anime.
I always love using Krookodile as my team whenever I play Unova. Having Moxie as it's ability, sweep away the Ghost & Psychic Elite Four and other cool things brings an joy to my face. It may not be the world's best beater. But for my playthrough of every Pokemon game, this thing can wreck havoc. Hope it gets some buffs in the future. I would give it Dragon Dance, Sucker Punch, Gunk Shot & Ice Fang for it's new moves and I would switch Intimated into Strong Jaw as it's other Ability.
One of my favorite pokemon to come out from Unova! I really liked it's design, the versatility in competitive scene and also *Ash's Krookodile* was one of his coolest and best pokemon during Unova run..... Despite what you may think, Krookodile isn’t actually a crocodile. It has a U-shaped snout and only its upper teeth can be seen when it’s mouth is shut. Both of which are traits that of an alligator.
A common theme for many of these videos is how generation five seems to be the toughest generation for Pokémon in the competitive scene with only a handful of Pokémon that did good to great in this generation. Given how stats became better for some Pokémon, new abilities and other factors that would either keep a top tier Pokémon in OU or drop to a lower tier.
That special typing really set Krookadile apart from the crowd, but those typings don't synergize together like other dual types, which leads to a myriad of weaknesses for pokemon that can outspeed it.
If I recall correctly, there was this Battle Tree team I had downloaded in my version of Sun that abused Power Trip and the fact that Krookodile could also have Anger Point as an ability. The goal was to use moves that always crit on your own Krookodile or Crabominable to trigger Anger Point and then proceed to decimate everything that existed. It was also a Trick Room team for further degeneracy that had a Staraptor with Final Gambit and maybe someone with Explosion. I believe it also included an Oranguru. Fun stuff, and effective.

Pfft. It's gonna be a livestream.
1 Gen 1 episode
*_Back in my day False Swipe Gaming had 4 pictures of Pokemon in the thumbnail_*
I remember using Krookadile for my Black2 first playthrough dude was a monster lol
Moxie krookodile with earthquake is a good in any play through
I was very surprised that you didn't mention its hidden ability Anger Point. I always run it on my Krookodile and it's very useful if you have one bulky enough to take a crit.
I like how these unova Pokémon are getting the longest vids ( scolipede plz)
Imagine the timeline where we got that blue, red and orange shiny Krookodile. That Kaminadile.
How good was Drapion actually?!
Waiting just like you buddy.
The virgin Landorus-T vs the Chad Krookodile.
03:00 why is that amoongus lvl 100
De Eendentemmer woah
I had a krookodile with moxie once in black and white named EZ E and alongside my archeops was one of the nastiest offensive duos I had ever used.
I love Krookodile!
Edit: The Gen V VGC section is all, "Krookodile could, but unfortunately it didn't, except when it did another thing, although lamentably it was not perfect, HOWEVER it did do this thing, even though--" 😂😂😂
this channel is so smooth
It's just not a FSG video without mentioning Landorus.
One of these days, that time will come.
That video maybe an hour long
They didn't call him the Abundant Pokemon for nothing!
Same with ferrothorn and the tapus. And incineroar.
3:26 Vgc never changes
I don't know how helpful it would be for it competitively but the fact that Krookodile doesn't get Dragon Dance when other crocodilian Feraligatr and freaking Whiscash do bugs me to death
Pretty neat! Thanks for uploading!
How good was Unown actually? I’ve been asking for months
Pretty sure he already did that video
Black&white the year of competitive Pokemon
Watch it on Auraguardian's channel (I think that's his name?)
@@Bronzor_ can you give me a name of the video? Plus black/white and black/white 2 given us hidden abilities and the largest staples pokemon that was use pass it generation.
@@majesticgothitelle1802 "How good was Unown actually?" and I checked, this guys username is TheAuraGuardian
