I was there. I heard about this secret show at Mount Rushmore and drove about 90-100 to get up there. Someone pulled out of a parking spot just as I arrived, it was fate! I opened my door and just started running through the woods because I had no idea where at Mount Rushmore they were playing. I could hear Lump being played in the distance, so that is when I arrived. I followed that kick drum and then started seeing signs tacked to the trees that said: "This is an MTV performance, entering this area permits you to be filmed, blah, blah, etc. etc" Just then I came up over a rise and there they were! I was shocked at how small a crowd it was. You can hear Chris mention that it was 572 of their closest friends, I would be surprised if it was that many. I was up on the hill stage left and you can barely see me raise my arms at one point. It was a magical time for sure. The weather was nice, not too cold, no wind, felt like you were indoors. They had a roped off area by the time I got there, and I couldn't go past the roped area, but regardless, I was still quite close. They also sang a song about the Seattle Supersonics basketball team that poked fun at them, but they must have cut that from the show. I also remember someone through a paper bag on the stage and Chris stood at the mic and said, "I would like to thank whoever through this McDonald's bag on the stage!" It was kinda funny. Thanks to VanessaSNK for posting this, a great memory of my childhood, thought I would never see it again! CrazyBear65, sorry to break it to you, it was 1996. I was there.
