I can't say whether or not your fender bulge happened on its own, but I can say that my fender bulge happened only on the passenger side after I hit a 2ft pole in a parking garage at low speed (on the passenger side). Chances are good that yours is from the accident also.
Hey man let me ask you one question. If you take the fender off, does it give you access to the frame piece you pulled off? I touched a tree offroad and have a small dent right behind the blinker I'm trying to fix
