More people need to experience Dreamcast! Such a unique console!
👆 THIS! ❤️
Totally agree. I had one back in the day, and I totally regret selling it. Such a capable system, cool game library, and that sexy look!
Agreed
I really wish I could.. it really seems a cool console!! 🤘
I call it the sonic adventure player
I love when you cover the Dreamcast. It is hands down my favorite console of all time.
UA-cam should allow you to _'Thumbs Up'_ a video twice if it's about the *Dreamcast.*
Agreed. I've been playing a ton of Elemental Gimmick Gear and Maken X
@referral madness joke, no joke bruh
Or throw up some devil horns!
Amen to that!
We need a Dreamcast Classic/Mini with a color HD VMU. The technology today would make it a fantastic purchase.
@Critical Unity Ima have to agree with you, on that one.
Looks and works like piracy gone wrong.
The Dreamcast is great and it’s sad it failed
PlayStation destroyed it. , good times..
It was slightly more powerful than a PS2, had better network connection, 4 controller ports, kickass memory cards, ran on Windows...
It failed in a commercial sense yes - but will always be a legendary console - the first to truly bring an affordable arcade experience into our homes. It was ahead of its time, influenced future gens and its ports are still awesome!
@@XR1000 Also boasts the first ever Console MMO
If they would of agreed from the get go of the DVD ROM drive I'm sure it would of lasted longer. They were working on a prototype in the mid 2000s seeing how successful the PS2 was with the DVD it would of been like Xbox 360 with the add on hd DVD
My favorite system. Still playing PSO on private servers to this day.
Wow, really? That’s fantastic.
There is literally never going to be enough content from this glorious channel! I absolutely geek out anytime a new video is dropped, my favorites being the game pick-ups with Reggie. One of the few comforts in the midst of such an odd time. Keep it up dude! You seriously kick ass!
Dude you really do rock. Thanks to you and the MJR crew I've found amazing games over the years and accessories. My Dreamcast need much more love. I appreciate you so much and glad you're safe and well.
Just hearing you say SKINEMAX brought a smile to my face...haven't heard that term in .like 35 years...
OMG, finally somebody appreciates Speed Devils. That was probabably my favorite racing game on the system,so much fun. It is a shame it was never loved as much as it should have been.
Great video as usual Metal Jesus.
Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱.
I've been using the Dreamcast keyboard and mouse to play first-person shooters on the system during quarantine :) it's clunky but surprisingly fun, and nostalgic of course.
Good tip!
Do you have a Dream Pi too? I'm considering getting one to play online again.
Fucking covidiot! still falling for the hoax!
Thanks for covering Heavy Metal Geomatrix! You're one of the only UA-camrs I know that have covered it. I followed that game for a couple years. It almost got cancelled and got a limited release without much advertising. I loved that game and made all my poor friends play it with me when they would come over to play some 2K sports lol.
Just bought a DC last week, but I’m still waiting for my copies of Hydro Thunder and Crazy Taxi.
Good luck getting 1st on Nile Adventure. You'll need it lol
Hydrooooooo Thunderrrrrr
I have it on n64 ya I remember that I used damn the torpedo I was lucky to get first
I used to play the hell out of Hydro Thunder for PS1 and later on DC.
No sonic adventure or adventure 2
Soul Reaver
DarkKnightMare I was thinking the same thing while watching the video, please say something about the voice acting, he didn’t!!!!😂
YOU ARE WORTHY
I probably spent hundreds of hours playing Toy Commander as a kid when it was released. This video is definitely going to make me jump back in during quarantine. I remember getting used to the physics and controls was a challenge, but it was so rewarding to stick it out.
Wow thank you a lot for your reviews and recommendations. I played most of this games with my first Dreamcast during the 2000s, I really enjoyed with Crazy Taxy 2, Soul Reaver and they looks like a new game! They come to my backlog to replay soon :D. I remember that Heavy Metal geomatrix and I was very surprised. You rock!
A nice list of Dreamcast games right there. I am interested in playing DUX 1.5 and Expendable.
Good seeing ya Jimmy! I miss hanging with ya buddy!
MetalJesusRocks Same here my friend. Hope you are well in your new place. The game room looks incredible.
Dreamcast probably had the most "quality titles' for a small library size, of any console ever. Considering how bad Sega's reputation was in the late 90's it's amazing that they got so many developers to make quality games for the system.
that heavy metal geomatrix is up their in price. damn
Underrated gaming system.
Not really. It was cool at the time but couldn’t hold a candle next to ps2 once that really got going
Not underrated
Incredibly underrated
@@lamBETTERthanY0U It was definitely still a badass system
Had one and loved it
I love the gang shot at 0:28 where everyone is watching the gameplay and the players (Especially MJR,) is really getting into it. Then there is Reggie at the back who seems to be more interested in something else. It would be fascinating to see what it is!
If I remember right (it was 2017), Reggie was glued to the latest Limited Run releases and we couldn't get him off his phone! True story LOL
Excellent choices, MJR! The DC is my personal favorite console of all time. So many fantastic arcade-y type games that can be played in short bursts without feeling overwhelmed.
Love the Dreamcast. Its my favorite console ever. Currently playing Shadow Man and Alone in the Dark. Those are great games.
Toy Commander is my favorite child hood game on the dreamcast alongside Airforce Delta, and wow speed devils and legacy of kain are two others I haven't played in so long.
So glad he included Toy Commander. I agree that the controls can be finicky at times, but definitely one of my all time favourite Dreamcast games. So atmospheric, and just love flying around the 3D environments
Always love your videos and digging the retro dreamcast action!
Dreamcast is one of my all time favorites, and is is one of my largest collections.
Wow nice! I had 153 games at peak but now down to 16 lol
That’s awesome. I miss mine!
I'm a simple man, I'm quarantined, I see Metal Jesus posts a video, I watch it instead of tackling my backlog.
Dude I love that modded out Dreamcast controller. That’s fire. Bro I love your videos they definitely cheer me up from a long day’s work. I can always count on your channel to perk me up😉
You rock dude! Been a fan for years. Thanks for all the great episodes.
Ah yes - Julie Strain. Spent a lot of my youth watching "Bikini Hotel" with the sound muted and Cartoon Network set on the recall button ....
Hehehheeh
I’m glad I never sold my Dreamcast that I’ve had since like 2000. Ive built up a decent collection of games for it over the years.
That's an awesome Dreamcast, Metal Jesus. Take care Metal Jesus, You Rock!
Man, I have been playing Heavy Metal this week and am so glad you gave it the mention. I dig it, and my band actually did some gigs and festivals back then with the Halford band together at that time. Toy Commander is definitely a must play. Soul Reaver, you will want the sequel on hand immediately upon finishing. 🤘🏻on
Shadow Man on the Dreamcast is one of my all time favorites. I just finished it for the 23rd time. I love it. Play it loud, in the dark, and damn it's a thrill.
You counted? How did you keep track?
@@twh563 I dunno I just remember. Like, the anime One Piece I'm on my 38th time watching it all the way through. Guess somethings you can remember ya know. I have a hard time remembering names of people so I guess it's just a give and take of the brain lol.
I actually started playing LoK: Soul Reaver this week on an emulator. Pretty good stuff. Heavy Metal: Geomatrix is good as well. Played it with my kid about a month ago.
I always enjoy watching videos about the dreamcast! Thanks MJR
Glad you like them!
Metal Jesus-you rock!!! Thank you for all your great videos.
Oh Jesus, you forgot to mention Soul Reaver was created by Amy Hennig and just how mind bogglingly fantastic the actors are in SR.
Toy Commander looks interesting! Currently playing Skyrim.
I’m replaying shenmue right now on the Dreamcast. Such an unique experience every time!
Man I love your videos I always come here to see what’s up and would you believe it I just got a Dreamcast for the first time and I came here to see what videos you had on this console like I do with all my consoles and you just made a new video about it wow what luck
The Dreamcast will always be my favorite console
Check out Redline Racer (by Criterion, yes THAT Criterion). It's a lot like Super Hangon, but in 3d!
Also, Super Runabout. It's just crazy and stupid fun.
I used to play a TON of Redline Racer on PC!! Completely forgot about that game. Thanks!
I AM a huge fan of super hexagon. How is redline similar to super hexagon?
@@MetalJesusRocks Suzuki alstare in us
Cannon Spike, Dynamite Cop, Zombie Revenge, Typing of the Dead, man, the list just goes on and on.
just got myself a dreamcast very recently! So thanks for the DC content! mostly just playing Seaman on it since that always intrigued me the most. But im also playing some Crazy Taxi and NBA 2k1 since i do enjoy sports games from time to time. went ahead and ordered Speed Devils thanks to this video though.
Speaking of logs, a big dude like you must spend a good bit of time on the toilet, what's your top games for playing on the throne?
I poo pretty fast, so for me it's all about quick and dirty games like Atari compilations on like the PSP/Vita/Evercade. 💩
@@MetalJesusRocks 🤘💩🤘
LMAO wtf
@@MetalJesusRocks Fearless, it's all about playing a match of Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros with ur buddies in the other restroom stalls 😂
This was the best anwser to a ridiculous question
Expendable is lacking just one thing besides dual sticks: Bruce Willis as main character. 🤣🤣🤣
I was watching this on my TV but had to jump to my phone to say YES!!! Toy Commander!!! Bro me and my friends and brothers spent HOURS playing this game together back in the day! I'm so glad you got to experience it! Great memories for me here 😁☀️💙. I agree, the controls take a bit getting used to in modern times (and especially for flight sim fans...it's just ODD) but it's fantastic! Good stuff!
Found my original boxed set of Samba de Amigo controllers in my parents' garage last month. Need to hook it up and play it again, it was my favourite game on the DC! It's one of the few games I kept from that era.
Praise the ROCKIN lord!
I miss my DC! I had to leave it in NYC for the time being.
Currently playing Yakuza Kiwami & Tekken 7.
Have you tried Maken X for the DC?
The soundtrack is god-tier
@referral madness I was referring to Maken X, my bad
Great video ! I just bought a Dreamcast because of Starlancer and other gems. You are right about the fact that the story is not as good as Wing Commander, there is not alot of videos making us feel the story, but when in space, it is just as good as Wing Commander. I am happy to discover Toy Commander, it looks really cool.
Playing some Dreamcast games right now. This will really help to find some hidden gem. Thanks!
I absolutely loved the Dreamcast (Stood in line at EB Games to pickup my bundle on launch) and have sold and rebought the system multiple times... eyeballing another one (especially with the HD mod would be cool). Loved Shenmue and Skies Of Arcadia... played a ton of Soul Reaver, Soul Caliber, the 2K Sports games, Power Stone and Sonic Adventure... so many great games. Super bummed when it failed. Thanks for doing this!
Damn, the Dreamcast had such good textures for its time! Ive always seen it as a hybrid between PS1and PS2 because of the graphics!
Awesome I'm still collecting on this system too and don't have any of these games so got to get e'm because it looks like I been missing out. Thank you for posting this and letting us know about the new controller for it as well looks awesome.
Those Crazy Taxi mini games bring back memories. So many hours destroying UFOs and trying to complete the courses.
Time to blast the soundtrack again
Dreamcast is the best console ever. I've bought a "renewed" one from amazon and I feel like a kid on Christmas
9:22 Ray Tracing on the toaster. Dreamcast was first! 😄
Kev Klopper Lol damnnn
Really good episode. Keep up the good work.
The ONLY thing better than playing games from my Dreamcast collection:
Listening to METAL JESUS talk about Dreamcast games! \m/
Dreamcast games are becoming so hard to find now and many are extremely expensive.
I would love to start collecting and own Marvel vs. Capcom 2 along with the other Capcom games for the Dreamcast, but so expensive now
I should have started back in 2014 when it was still relative cheap and easy to collect for....Sigh.
I bought up all the dc games I wanted couple of years ago and spent ALOT of money on them, I’d say just download the roms/isos and burn them to disc or if they’re over 700mb invest in a gdemu and an sd card set up, less noise and heat, quicker load times and less money.
tom11zz884 .... or this ua-cam.com/video/IVpnjd8QVks/v-deo.html
@@GR-ir2bu GDEMU is the way to go, save your disc drive! I put one into my dreamcast a few months ago, it works really well. Way more convenient than keeping track of burnt discs.
Greg Orszulak Yeah if you’re not into the authentic, original, proper way to game on dreamcast it’s a good alternative, you can get some nice 3D printed brackets for the sd too to fill in the gap for the missing drive, personally I’m not a fan of the UI though I don’t like any 3rd party, generic, unofficial menus and interfaces, or homebrews, just looks like cheap piracy to me and devalues the experience but each to their own.
Download Redream and a romset.
I've only got an old duo core PC and it runs perfectly.
Guys I’m going incognito. For the team.
😂 FOR SCIENCE!
Enlighten us!
Absolutely love this video!!!
Dreamcast is my all time favorite system. So ahead of it's time IMO.
I recommend giving Streets of Rage 4 a go. Perfect for a playthrough with Reggie!
I used to play a lot of Speed Devils Online on the Dreamcast! It was a awesome game to play multiplayer (up to 5 people)!
There was a gambling system with other players and you could bet your car on "Vendetta"! This was a really nice game!
Wow this was great. I'll have to check these out!
Glad to see u still kickin dude; great vids
Always!
Top quality content per usual MJ!
Just started watching your videos a few months ago and I became fan every since.
Nice video! Those games look super fun ❤️
That’s some really good games on this list. I’ve played one or two, wanted to play some of the others, and never even heard of a couple of them. Can’t wait to try them all out.
The jump feature in Crazy Taxi 2 is not just for traffic, you jump over the roofs of some buildings for shortcuts, and there is fare up there sometimes too.
Nice to see some more love for Millennium Soldier. I grabbed it for the DC recently and have had a bunch of fun with it. Need to pick up Toy Commander, been on my want list for a while. Speed Devils looks fun; always on the look out for arcade racing games that actually control well and have fun tracks!
Aaaaand I just ordered Speed Devils lol.
The DUX 1.5 playthrough you showed looks JUST like SNES Gradius III. Even the little boss battle, which makes we want to go find my own copy. Awesome dude!
The Dreamcast was the system that had the most potential at the time, it was so sad when it failed to make the sales. I remember working in a store where we hooked it up to a big screen TV and people just couldn't get enough of it, it was just so fun.
Never tired Speed Devils. Now I want too. Thanks for letting us know about it.
The dreamcast has so many great games. Sick vid metaljesus.
I couldn’t remeber the nostalgic images in my head but I finally found out what they were from!!! It was Toy Commander!!! Thanks metal Jesus!!!
Love you man! Keep up the videos!
Thanks! Will do!
Still my favorite system to this day. Wish I still had mine and my multitude of games
Your videos are motiving me to be a retro video game collector 😀 Love your content my man
Another cool video!! Keep it rocking!! 🤘
Thanks! You too!
Oh Speed Devils! 😀 I played that game so much on PC back in the days. Had totally forgot about it. Did not know it was released for Dreamcast.
Great video! One lesser talked about Dreamcast game that I really love is honestly Looney Tunes Space Race, that one is surprisingly fun especially if you're a Looney Tunes fan or if you're into Mario Kart style racing games. Aside from that, another favorite of mine is Shenmue for how deep it gets and all the things you can do, not to mention a game you can sit down with for a few hours and really sink your teeth into considering the quarantine and finding ways to pass time.
Soul Reaver / legacy of kain has some of the greatest voice acting and story I've ever seen in a video game. Criminally underrated. I'm surprised you didn't comment on that lol
Hey I loved the video. I’ve been in a rut when it comes to games I’m trying to play and I’ve been starting and stopping games all quarantine until I popped in southpark the stick of truth. I wasn’t expecting to love that game so much but I beat it in like three Sittings it was so much fun. The only dreamcast game I own is seaman and I definitely want to make my collection bigger! Thanks for shining the light on such a strange console.
I like how the burners on the stove are Dreamcast logos in Toy Commander.
Awesome bro I can dig it.
youve convinced me sir. you do your job very well
I miss having my Dreamcast I had in my preteen years. I wish I never got rid of it. (One time my mom told me to go outside because I was luving my Dreamcast too much) so she comes home to me playing ready 2 rumble with my friends up in a tree in our back yard. I ran multiple extension cords, nailed a wooden plank, and set up a Lil CRT TV with my dreamcast up in the tree 🌲 so we could be outside and play videogames LoL. My mom admitted that even that was clever and she still gets a good chuckle thinking about it. I loved the Sega sports, sonic adventures, ready 2 rumble, soul calibur, tennis, the random arcade type games, the fusion frenzy/3D style super smash bros type games, bullet hell games. All the ones that were still so fun to play with one analog sticks.
Toy Commander was a staple of my childhood, and I'd forgotten about until now. I entered the cheat code A, B, X, Y, B, A so many times that I remember it in my late twenties and I haven't played the game since I was about six or seven.
as a gamer, i was already quarantined playing games before this pandemic even was announced. you cannot imagine the relief i got out of this realizing its NOW respectable and COOL to stay home play games instead of working or jogging :D
Crazy Taxi 2 was technically ported the original xbox aswell. In crazy taxi 3 you can play the cities from crazy taxi 1 and 2 aswell as the new city that was made for 3. So it's basically crazy taxi 1, 2 and 3 in one game.
I love Speed Devils...it was a fairly early Dreamcast game, and I remember putting lots of time into then, and I still play it quite a bit. I've completed it so many times I've lost count. One of my all time favourite arcade style racing game.
It's actually kind of nice to have an opportunity to play through some of your backlog, not just adding to it. Currently I'm playing through the Jak and Daxter trilogy, Goldeneye for the Wii, and Divinity 2 for the 360.
I love your videos so much. Would love to see more on the ds and 3ds
That Racing game reminds me of exótica for the N64. Just writing this comment makes me want to play it. Loved it!
Nice list. Totally agree on the racing games! I recommend: Zombie Revenge, Blue stinger, Dynamite cop, Dino crisis and Carrier
Blue Stinger is a must play if you own a Dreamcast
starlancer was an amazing game, I played it on dreamcast and really loved it.
