Seems she's been training you guys as of late! She presses 'want' and just goes over to her object of interest instead of pushing its button (first fan toy, now food)... what a brilliant girl, so smart, so efficient! 😄

And, it might also work on a laziness level too. It's easier to say no if we're farther away. But if she is ambiguous, the humans try to understand... And boom.
I also like how Billi doesn't know it, but while she was sitting there and waiting for the food, she was showing all of us her hungry belly. It's like she's training us, too.
Perhaps she's trying to teach them her language. It might be good to tell her "yeah, we know." Or probably "understand" so you can do "mom understand" "dad understand" "billi understand" "squirrel not understand" - does she have a "not"?
Billi knows what to expect from either of you. She plays her strategy accordingly. "Dad!" "Want!"
It's pretty interesting, I believe most human kids do about the same thing and learn who is best for permission or help based on the circumstance.
@@En-Jon-eer I definitely think you're right on this one. The smarter the child, the more you have to really be careful with them. 😂 My daughter is/was considered gifted in school (she's 29 now, so no longer living at home) but when she was a teen/preteen she learned that if she asked me permission to do something when I had been sleeping, I probably wouldn't remember it later and would usually say yes. So we had to make a rule that she couldn't ask me if I was asleep because there was one too many times that I wasn't sure that I agreed to something but she was positive I did. (I slept a lot, just to clarify that, because I was disabled with major chronic pain syndromes and anytime I did anything around the house or out of it like grocery shopping...it took me time to recover.)

Billi's been mixing her body language and buttons lately! I wonder if this is a sign that she's integrating the buttons into her communication system and picking the bits of communication she likes to use best, or if it's something else completely different? Also, love that she specifically asked dad for food even with mom right there lol, she knows who's likely to say yes!
reminded me of a child that does not want to get scolded by their mother for wanting an extra snack, so they just go to dad instead and say "I want this" while pointing at a cookie jar instead of saying "I want more cookies"
Dad serves the BEST meals. Dad is food and fun, and Billi has him charmed. Which, to be fair, is Billi's job. A smart kitty knows which human to flirt with at any given moment and Billi is a very smart and savvy kitty. 💖

@@mariantreber8055 Yep, I'm old enough that I grew up with a set of encyclopaedias! My Mum still looks at them with my nieces- some things haven't changed since the 90s, & they have good pictures. Books generally- if I'm wondering about something, my 1st thought is to check my books.
I know. Cat tummy always gives me the urge to go tickle tickle and nuzzle it with my face, which is risking my life if the claws haven't been recently trimmed... 😂
@@suitov My cat has always loved having her belly rubbed or nuzzled. In the evenings while I'm watching tv she will be purring and going to sleep while I rub her belly, but open her eyes and glare at me if I stop. How dare I?!
It is interesting how similar she is to a child. Including which parent is most likely to get a snack from.
Not offense to Mom or Billi (or Squirrel) but I think Dad is my favorite. Seems like such a nice guy and his relationship with Billi is so wholesome.

I had a cat who loved to watch golf. The way the ball seems to twitch around on the long tracking shots was endlessly fascinating to her. She'd stand up in front of the TV and paw at it, or sometimes sit on the top of the TV and lean over and bat at it. Either way, she'd block my grandfather's view of the TV. RIP to both Willow and Grandfather Bud.

I had a cat who was like that about hockey. Calleigh loved patting at the TV screen as the puck slid down the ice. She was often just as entertaining as the game.

It's so funny with that "want" button. We have no buttons, but our cat certainly "wants" a lot many different times every day. Sometimes he doesn't know what he wants. He' s just meowing and meowing and looking at us but when we get up to go with him to see what he wants it turns out he just wants. That's it, but often he knows what he wants and he is able to show it. I love being friends with someone of a different species. We are different but still alike. So much love. ❤

What we need to do is breed all these cats that are excellent with these buttons til we get super button cats, the we need to bread all those cats that can actually meow real words, the we combine them into a legit talking cat that just full on responds to you in conversation.

Billi really is training Dad. She stood there, nonresponsive, and forced Dad to, "use his words". Edit: Autocorrect took over and changed "Billi" to "William?" I didn't notice.
Billi’s a girl. Billie is usually a nickname for Wilhelmina, Wilma, or Willa. Rarely, it’s a name on its own, like Billie Eilish, but it’s like someone’s given name being Jack instead of John.
In fact, "billi" is the Hindi word for "cat".
(I saw a couple of others mention it, and looked it up. 😄 )
"Use his words" 😁 But I think you are right. Mom doesn't seem to use the actual bottons as much anymore to communicate with Billi. I do think Billi often has higher expectations than that: let's both communicate in a foreign language.
