- Hi guys today Blake is making a humane snake trap so we can catch that snake and move him elsewhere.
Update!!! It worked check out the update video here:
• The Snake Trap Worked!...
Omgeeee! Your son is getting so grown and very professional on video. W2G Marilyn & Garret! Blessings, Dee
Just saw the video…very informative. We have black snakes getting into our chicken coop eating the eggs, so we are researching what to do.
Edit: I found the next video for anyone who wants to see if it works! So cool!
First of all, what a SUPER SMART young man you are Blake! Thank you so much for this because I need to make something like this and I already have hardware cloth and zip ties so I won't have to go buy anything extra.
That snake looks HUGE! We have been moving the rat snakes we've had to deal with for 3 weeks (4 total in that time) but they are starting to stress out my rooster and hens so we need to figure out something else. I guess just relocating them to the back of our yard isn't a great idea since they seem to keep coming back.
I hope you posted a video catching this slithery thing. I'm going to check your channel and see! If you did, maybe you can edit the description here and link that video for future viewers. ;)
Thank you so much Blake! Great job!
Thank you I will link it. I was actually talking to an exterminator that catches and relocates snakes and he said you have to move them several blocks away because they will find their way back. He did an experiment where he marked them and sure enough they found their way back from several acres away. 😱😱 Good luck we’ve caught at least six this season!
@@MilkAndHoneyAcreage Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm curious though,. I've read so many snake lover's comments on other videos and social media that say it can be deadly for the snake to move them more than a mile from their home? Do you know the truth in that?
Going to be making these ASAP. Neighbor found a rattlesnake in their yard and I have been freaking out ever since. This will be so much simpler than the wooden armadillo trap I had the hubby make. We didn't catch an armadillo but we did catch a squirrel. Armadillo left though so that's good. I had seen a video using a minnow trap for snakes but this will be cheaper to make a few of them.
Update: Soo 5 hours and some bloody knuckles later, I have one. Advice: if you're only going to make one, just buy a minnow trap. The wire ends are very sharp where it's been cut. They have to be bent back so they aren't poking the snake as it enters. And they bloody your knuckles. Not convinced it will catch a snake but will update if it does.
We cut the wire Ed’s as far back into the cross section of wire as possible. No more scrapes! Did you watch our update video? He caught a big one!
@@MilkAndHoneyAcreage no I haven't! Never did catch a snake. Not the traps fault. It's a large area and it's hard to know where to put it. I was pretty rattled when I learned we had rattle snakes so making it made me feel like I was doing something.
Thank you for a very good tutorial! Gonna give your trap a go in my chicken coop 👍
Thank you SO MUCH!!! Last year, we had a TERRIBLE snake problem. We'd shoot one and within a couple days ANOTHER would show up! Some were really wily and difficult to catch.
If you end up catching a snake with your trap, you KNOW that we are going to build SEVERAL! Not only do we get egg eating snakes but, also, both our dogs have gotten bitten by copperheads!
Oh my goodness! Well we really hope this trap works! Will definitely do an update if it does!
Thank you for the video. You make it look very easy to do. I'm going to make this right now.
Hi Blake, I hope you catch that rascal. I will check back and see. Tfs Carmen
Perfect solution! Thanks for sharing!
Great work on the video guys !!! Good luck on catching the snake, you hurt the ducks you def have to go.
Awww cool, he did great! Zip Ties & Duck Tape are my favs! Lol
💟Thank You!💟
Absolutely enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you William!!
Smart young man! I have the stuff, will make one soon.... I found at least 2 large black snakes in my coop today.... they are thieves.
Did you see our update? He caught a big one just two days later using the trap. Hope you catch them!
Here is the update!! ua-cam.com/video/QmWMPilH1wQ/v-deo.html
I appreciate the good idea.
May I ask, how do you k1ll the snakes without contact or having them go outside the trap?
Thank you so much we not only caught one but two of the suckers. Great idea.
Great news!! We’re so glad we could help you!
Amazingly similar to a minnow trap! good luck with it. By the way Blake... have you thought of a Granny Grabber Reacher? pick up the snake and have a five gallon bucket with a lid handy.
Check out the follow up video it worked like a charm!
Zip Ties are good for short term. But in the sun for 1 year. The sun will Deteriorate the Ties and they will fall apart. Maybe add Wire between the Ties . Once together.
Don't want you to get bit. Down the road.
I made Trap follow your video. Worked very good. Accept for one Flaw. Need to add. Feet/Chocks/etc. I had a 3 foot Copper Snake in it. And it Rolled the Trap over and got out the first time. Lol
I like that trap. Thanks.
I can't find the link to the next video, can you put it in the comment section or did I just miss it?
Did it catch the snake??
How did you make it the cone this hard wire I bought is not very flexible
You may have bought the wrong kind you want the one on a roll.
I’ll be sure to give this a try!
Did you happen to see the update video? He caught a big one!
Hi! Why exactly can't the snake get back out??
Not really sure something to do with how they see and how their bodies work. I think he explains it in the video.
Where are you relocating them ?
In the back pasture away from the chicken barn.
It's venomous
