It never ceases to amaze me how complex shoe construction can be - even with today's shoes. Also, It seems the art hasn't changed that much in the last few centuries. Somewhere, floating around on the net, is a picture of a pair of shoes in some museum that once belonged to some Pope or some senior official of the church. They are amazingly well preserved so you can actually see how very well they were constructed and how beautiful they must have been when new. I frankly didn't believe they were as old as they were stated to be. Something like 500 years or some such. Amazing. I love craft.

My dad was stationed at RAF Woodbridge from 1976 to 1978. One of the girls I went to school with on the base now lives in Tring these some 40+ years later. I have asked her through FB if she had ever been to your shop. She had not but she does know where your shop is and drives by it quite often.
So, if you ever have to wonder why an American like me is interested in your videos other than the fact that you are entertaining and I enjoy your presentation - now you know. Keep up the good work...

Gaerne sg12’s are the top of the line riding boots. $550 boot there. Very durable, protective and stylish at the same time. I race xc quads and let me tell you it’s not fun slipping off a peg and having your foot caught between your nerf bar and rear wheel. Your whole back of your leg gets skinned up pretty bad. That’s nothing for these boots. Plus the boots are so strong you don’t end up twisting your ankle either. Been there done that not fun. Kicking a bike over with them is night and day too.

Watching this video (and others in the channel) I keep thinking "oh, so that's how they do that". It's fascinating to see how things work and how they're made, especially when it's such an essential thing that we all rely on almost every day yet typically take completely for granted without a moment's consideration.

It'll live. I dont think any damage is going to be caused from the nut pressing on the wheel too tightly, or the wheel pressing on the back of the bar too tightly. If anything the wheel might have an indent in it at the end of it's life span; luckily, they're disposable anyway.

I was watching another fellow it must be a common thing in your country for cobblers to also do keys. I think it’s a very interesting combination. Being that I live in the land of throwaway, we don’t have many cobblers left. My work conditions I destroy my boots uppers and lowers so they’re worn slick and the stitching is usually coming undone and have holes in both upper and lower so I end up just buying new boots

I had a pair of boots that had closed-cell compressed foam soles (like your motor cross boots) resoled by the manufacturer who is local to my area. I got to see a bit of the work being done, and they used a hot knife (which is really a hot piano wire) to slice the bulk of the old sole off before taking it to the grinder to remove the left over. Don't know if you do enough of those type of soles to justify the cost; but you could probably try with a cheap soldering iron to see if it cuts it without making a mess.

Inexpensive or less expensive sounds better to me than “cheaper”. I really like this video mainly because I do have designer shoes but I also have other shoes that I love just as much and am so glad to see they can be repaired, because I get attached to them. I know, sounds crazy but I never bought a shoe I didn’t instantly fall in love with and can’t part with them just because they have a little age on them. Those Rockports you redid is my point. Sure, you could buy another pair but these become old friends.
