Nice video about underrated parks. One primary reason why the 30,000 attendance at North Cascades NP is so low is due to the fact that the primary road passes through the Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Most people who think that they are in North Cascades NP are technically in Ross Lake NRA. One has to hike many miles from the road to actually get in to the national park.
It's weird that NCNP has so few visitors, especially since Hwy 20 passes right through the park. I've done the Cascade Pass trail, though it takes a little more driving to get to the trailhead. Even the trailhead itself is breathtaking, and when you break out of the woods on the top half of the trail, it just keeps getting better and better.
Found ourselves in Teddy Roosevelt NP 3 months ago, it was stunning, wind canyon was the single most beautiful spot I’ve ever seen in a national park, we stared over the river for almost an hour without saying anything, it is that beautiful 😌 great pick for this list
In your segment on Theodore Roosevelt National Park you have a picture of Sylvan Lake which is in Custer State Park in South Dakota. Also Badlands National Park is in South Dakota. Theodore Roosevelt NP has 3 units, all of which are in ND.
Thank you for the video! I like it a lot! I've seen here so picturesque views, so magnificent places which i dream to visit. So different nature, from what i got used to see. Btw I am watching you from Russia.
I have been to all of these except New River Gorge, and though I love them all, I must say that Teton National Park is not underrated and shouldn't be on the list. Instead, I find it to be very crowded. I suggest that another Utah Park, Capitol Reef, should be on the list as underrated and gets a lot less visitors than the Tetons.
I agree about the Tetons. They get almost as many visitors as Yellowstone, probably because most visitors visit both on the same vacation. I was surprised to discover that Capitol Reef gets a few more visitors than Canyonlands. I definitely want to visit either one a lot more than I want to visit the far more crowded Arches (so far in Utah, I've only seen Bryce and Zion).
Pretty sure the pic at 8:30 is not in TRNP .... looks more like Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park in South Dakota. Also Canyonlands and Grand Tetons are 100% not underrated on any list I've ever seen. They are well known and highly visited.
Of the less-visited parks in the lower 48 that I still haven't seen and very much want to see, many are on your list: Especially Carlsbad, Big Bend, Gunnison, and Teddy Roosevelt. Two island parks that I want to visit more than Isle Royale are Channel Islands and Dry Tortugas. Others I want to see which didn't make your list are Mammoth, Redwoods, Lassen, and Great Basin.
I need to burst your bubble about Grand Teton because it receives millions of visitors each year, almost as many as Yellowstone because of its proximity to yellowstone. I was there back in July 2024 and the overflow from the Jenny Lake parking area was at least a half mile long in both directions on the main road! Needless to say I do not think it's underrated because of all the people that visit there each year.
The big mistake made here is to confuse the North Cascades area, the North Cascades National Park Complex, and the North Cascades National Park itself. When talking about the low number of visitors, it is always talking about the park itself only, which has very limited road access. However the video showed a lot of places that are not inside the park and have a lot of visitors every year, like the Diablo lake which is located inside the complex, and the picture lake which is located in the national forest in the area.
I'm ready to take off to the national parks to stay awhile. I hope this gets around. I need company too. Xenia,oh. June dr. May 26,24. Anyone interested? We'd go slow with the walking.

Very nice list however the new river gorge national park is in the state of West Virginia not Virginia.
That's our goof! Thanks for catching that!
You should fix this it is a gem of West Virginia
Number 2 has still not been corrected. 🤔😕🤨
I was going to comment this.

That's great information to add, thank you! And thank you for watching!

You have to hike into the North Cascades national park. It's worth the hike!!
I am lucky, I have been to many of these parks on this list and plenty more.
Thank you for watching!

spent 1 week in capitol reef it was amazing. Capitol reef with grand escalante.. Deserves to be top 10. At least I felt it was better than zion.
I hiked Lower Calk Creek Falls in Grand Staircase Escalante and it is one of my favorite hikes. I’ve only been to 16 NP and Utah was my favorite trip.
@@gtrpkr2487 Calf Creek Falls right of gorgeous Scenic Byway 12

❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I love the Grand Tetons but there is no doubt it's overshadowed by Yellowstone, it's neighbor to the north.

great basin is the best
Easter island has horses.
New River Gorge is in West Virginia
Please make the following correction: The New River Gorge National Park is located in WEST Virginia, not Virginia.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any redtail catfish in Virginia.
I wouldn't call the North Palisade a cliff. It's the third highest peak in the Sierra Nevada!
And we can take mules on our hike.

Correction: SS Parks as in The Seperated States of America because every state is conducting their own business opposite of other states.
