This is one of the funniest interviews I've seen in a long time.
The great memory I have of Xmas is the boxes of Woolworth glass ornaments that would come up from the basement. So beautiful, delicate. Unfortunately a few would break every year. And the placement of tinsel was all important. Our bulbs were red, gold , green, blue.
And every year Dad had to spend hours untangling miles of electric bulb cords and replacing burnt out bulbs. Now, THAT was Christmas!

The blue/gold dress fiasco was not a fiasco. It was a sociological study to see how America could be manipulated. If you saw a blue dress you could not be convinced it was gold. If you saw a gold dress you could not be convinced it was blue. If you believed it was blue and someone insisted it was gold you called them uneducated, racist idiots. If you believed the dress was gold but someone insisted it was blue you yelled "Fake News" and chanted "Lock her Up". Dems love the blue. Trump loves the gold.

Never seen tinsel do that, but I have seen a candy cane wrapper do that once. And easter grass. I mean yeah... no more easter grass. Or candy canes. Ever.

Hanks is a great actor, but it is not like famous people on TV are now our only source of inspiration (it is messed up if true). It maybe hard to believe but heroes exist outside showbiz/politics too. Most of them are not millionaires and/or do not have to wear makeup to appear glitzy on screen.

I have the exact same Tinsel that I used on my very first Christmas Tree after I got married in 1972. Every year I carefully take off each piece and store it for the next year. Until my husband died in 2018, we always got a live tree. That was a very important tradition for us.

I have an 8 foot, fresh tree with colored lights on it, but it has the newer miniaturei bulb lights on it with a remote that has 3 different setting to shine different combinations and one to make the lights flash. That's the best combo! White lights are more 1970's-1980's.
Need to take the president to the national archives and show it to him. I'll guarantee he's never even seen a copy of the constitution.

I do the white warm lights a strand of twinkling, and only like a strand spaced very sparsely spaced multicolored lights that to me look like little candies so that we get the ultimate Christmas tree
Tom Hanks has over time become one of my favorite all time actors, he's timeless for me because he's been around for awhile. I was playing in a band living in motels when he was in Bosom Buddies, a sort of weird show I used to watch up in my room in between sets, it , and Mash, and avariety show, these seemed to be back in the days of post Laverne and Shirley ya know, but he come along way, variety of roles, The Burbs, to Saving private Ryan...on and on, what a versatile actor, and still a likable guy, so many celebs 'go south' at some point where they depart and become unrecognizable, that is from what originally one found fascinating, Tom is still tom, like you can sit and have a normal chat

Who could possibly not be in awe of Tom Hanks? From the 70s show he starred in, where he had to dress like a woman so he could live in the apartment that didn't rent to men. From thst cheesy sitcom, to the outstanding performances he has given for us, including: Forrest Gump, Philadelphia (Tom played the part of a gay man that is infected with AIDS, the voice of Woody in all the "Toy Story" movies, and "Saving Private Ryan".
