I'm glad Tom Hanks finally got to play a superhero.
Second time. First was Apollo 13 when he played Jim Lovell but Mr Rogers was known to everyone, not just adults.
What about sully
@@ajusino2324 I had to Google it but you're right. Lol
@Reagan Dionneit's called humility, and that is partly what makes mister Rogers so great. Most selfless people don't consider themselves superheroes.
@Reagan DionneI was agreeing with you. If I misspoke, then please tell me where I was wrong.
mr rogers talked so slow because he said kids needed time to take in information and process it, so he gave them the time they needed.
Personally as a kid, I found Mr. Rogers a little creepy. But hearing about his philosophy as an adult makes me appreciate what he was trying to do. Maybe I did not like him because I'm one of those kids that preferred Road Runner at the time. Lol!
tamara I was the same way as a kid. I thought he was creepy and boring. Now I know, he was a great man.
Teddy James it wasn’t a biopic of his life.......
Yeah !
what makes him such a great man like he made creepy videos for kids and made hella money probably. he is a weird guy and whats weirder is how much this movie is being promoted everywhere (even on jeopardy) and like why
In these hateful times, I wish we could all live a little more like Fred Rogers. We really really need it.
Yesssssss!!!!!!
Amen
The past wasn't what you may be imaging it to be...
You know, the best place to start is with you. Guaranteed to spread that way :)
🍕🍕🍕 TOM HANKS IS A SATANIC PREDATOR
Some day there will be a movie about Mr. Hanks as well.
I'll be first in line to see it. I would love for that to happen eventually.
Wait. I'm not ready for that. I hope that's for the younger generation still.
christiannielsen I was thinking the same thing!
I am sure it will be a dark and creepy movie about his fetish with children!
I'll tell you one actor who wont be playing Hanks. Issac Kappy, know why? Cause he's dead. If you want to know why he's dead just research him a bit
"You put on that red sweater and those blue shoes, you might as well be putting on Batman's cape and cowl." Yes, Mister Rogers was a hero. No question.
Batman's not much of a hero, he's a rich dude who beats the crap out of mentally ill people lol. Love the character but I don't think he's a hero
Beadlovable1 I just said the same type of thing on a different video about Mr. Rogers. A real superhero he was!!!
@@Milk88488 He is also fiction.
We take Mr. Rogers very seriously in Pittsburgh. Yes we do.
Seriously though. Kudos to that dude on the elevator lmao.
but mr. rogers himself wasn't that serious a dude?
What about Mac Miller?
So does the people at WQED-TV Channel 13, the PBS affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA!
That bit made me laugh so much.
Tom calling Jimmy "idiot" is priceless 😂😂
It came from the heart, I’m sure.
Indeed. Best part. Tells it like it is & down to earth real !
Yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one.
we don't see him again, he ruined his career
Jimmy calling Tom "a little slow" is worthless
Only Tom Hanks can act shocked that someone didn't know him and not come off cocky
It would have been the only jeopardy question I got right lol.
"YOU ARE A such a jaded talk show host!"
He was great!!!
Great movie. I'm a one man band on youtube.
He come off concetied instead.
Mr Rogers was actually a father to me. I learned alot from him. On his last airing, i actually cried all night.
I loved “Its a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” It made me look inside myself and the person I am. It also made me think we need more Mister Rogers in our world, especially now! 😢
Too true, but unfortunately, "I doubt his kind will come along again anytime soon."
Yes the movie made me cry on the plane! As someone who doesn't have a good relationship with their father it definitely hit a chord within me!
Same here.
I'm so glad Fred is still being honored. I grew up running to the TV to watch this magical man.
Fred?
Fred?
Agreed same!!!
@@mayookhsekhar5663 Fred is Mr. Rogers first name.
Allie Kuma I’m pretty sure it’s a bit better to respect him with a - “Mr.” Fred Rogers.
Mr. Rogers deserves to be honored for all of his dedication to the proper development of children in this nation spanning over a 40 year career. A sincere thank you to you Mr. Rogers for all you've done for us.
AJ Louviere yeah my great uncle was friends with him so one day when my dad was a kid he got to meet Mr Fred Rogers in person at his great uncles house with him 😇
@@katherineterzian71 that's an awesome story!
AJ Louviere thank you!
I met him twice myself. My brother was good friends with his daughter and was attending college with her. I was attending a different college. Back then she had study groups at her house. I attended only twice, when I was in town.
Robert F that’s amazing my dad also got to meet him too as a child since his uncle and Mr Rogers we’re friends! :)
Watched “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” today and cried. Multiple times. Such a massive part of my childhood. Thank you Tom 💗
Yes. BRAVO!!! 👏👏👏👏
Same it was such a good movie
Tom Hanks : Most loved treasure
Agolf Twittler : Most hated embarrassment
I feel. exactly the same way. I’ve seen it twice already lol and love it. I needed this
Can't wait to have the time this weekend to go see it. I grew up in Pittsburgh and we have many many MANY memories of Mr.Rodgers there. He has a whole neighborhood in our amusement park called Kennywood where you can take a trip threw his neighborhood. I absolutely loved him and love Tom had a chance to play him. No one would do it better
When he yells, it reminds me of Woody from Toy story💞
" YOU ARE A TOY!"
All I hear is woody
Omg I was thinking this lol... yes
same it’s all i hear!
Rachel A omg I was gonna write this lmao. Truth
I like to think that one of the reasons why Mr. Rogers spoke slowly was to allow his words to sink in. And also to allow none native English speakers to understand him easier. When I attended Uni a few years back, I was recommended by 2 professors to be a tutor for their classes. What I realized from that experience is that foreign students who came from none English speaking countries who may have learned it at school but didn't speak it on a daily basis had difficulties following lectures or conversations when the speaker talked too fast.
And not only that, it seems that slowing your speech a tad also makes it easier for your words to sink in for both native and non-native English speakers.
I used to have to go over a topic 3-4 times before my fellow students understood it, but when I spoke a bit more slowly, they were able to absorb my explanation more easily.
Thank you for that info. I will keep it in mind when teaching Non-English speakers.
Ben Carson must be a great teacher - when he's awake.
That makes perfect sense.
Watching interviews with the real Mr. Rogers, there are also long pauses between words. I think he really wanted to choose his words very carefully and be completely understood.
I couldn't agree more as I didn't speak English when I came to the US, it was much easier to have a conversation when someone who put the effort to speak slowly to me, same when I teach French, I take my time with my students :)
Tom Hanks and Mr Rogers are both National Treasures!
So is Opus.
Opus 313 I can’t believe he’s related to Fred
They couldn't have picked a better person
^This!^ You beat me to it.
Tom Hanks : Most loved treasure

Mr Rogers wasn’t just for little kids. He spoke to all of us. As a latch-key kid (Gen X), he was my homework is finished reward every afternoon. I can’t imagine my childhood without him.
Fred Rogers was the real deal. He is missed today because kids go through so much.
holygroove2 - Mr. Rogers was beloved by my son and I confess I watched him as well and often learned a lot from him.
@@shirleyrombough8173 we all learned from him. I thought Fred Rogers was the way that most people should be.

Born and raised in the steel city of Pittsburgh. Yes, we DO take Mr. Rogers VERY seriously here.
👍
Yet you aren't calling out this communist pretending to be a combat marine for money.
Curious to know how you think Tom Hanks did. I admit I was a little disappointed, but there’s only one Mr. Rogers so I guess I can’t expect too much.
@@DH-uw3us I'm so happy at least someone else is seeing that too. Everyone is fawning over Tom Hanks and he just seems like a mere shadow of the saintly man that Fred Rogers really was. He seems jaded in the trailers too and the way he's looking at the reporter is not that loving and patient look that Mr. Rogers really looks at people w/. He's always looking at him sideways, like he's judging and finding him lacking. I don't see that he captured him at all.
All I hear is “YOU-ARE-A-TOY!”

Hajikero Valentine lol me too
All I hear is "WHY TO THE NORTH POLE OF COURSE"
I hear “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”.

This movie had me crying through most of it. Fred Rogers really reminds me of my grandmother. Wish he was still with us and that I could have been his friend.
I love how sassy Tom Hanks is in this interview 😂😂
He's always sassy lol. Watch him in Graham Norton and Jonathon, he was even more sassy.
Tom Hanks is one of the most genuine dudes ever

My son had a liver transplant in Pittsburgh at the age of 2..We lived there for 6 months .The people were so caring and wonderful .It made a very stressful time much bearable .this was in 82 ,he is now 39 and has 3 chlidren of his own .
just that 10 second clip from the movie literally made me cry. lord help me get through this film without a full blown break down
A vortex of wholesomeness - Tom Hanks looking like Santa Claus discussing playing Fred Rogers.
Thank you for being there for me as a child Mr. Rodgers. I will forever be grateful.
Silence is a beautiful gift. I think he talked slowly to show how peaceful life can be. All other shows felt they needed to move faster and sound louder, but it just ends up becoming madness. There is a beautiful simplicity to Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
When Tom yelled oh my god at the beginning it sounded just like Woody from Toy Story!
No way. You mean if I watch toy story and Woody yells, he would sound like Tom Hanks. Did not know.
Hearing Tom call Jimmy a "jaded talk show host" was so satisfying. I played that at bit at least 10 times.
Me too!

i love how he impersonates almost everyone he talks about here..lol.
Love Tom Hanks.
substitute91 - We so need a Mr. Rogers in our world today. What a contrast between him and that orange menace in the White House. This movie could't be more needed today.
Great impression of Bruce Dern!
Shirley Rombough You know, the most amazing thing was that The Reverend Fred Rogers was a lifelong registered Republican.
Tom Hanks what a legend. I've grown up watching this guy in so many movies from Big to Splash to even Sully.

Great comment, couldn't agree with you more
Maybe what Mr. Rogers said wasn't just for kids. I know some adults who should listen.
Liquid Todd some adults who need love
I'm not even kidding, a week ago I was super depressed and weirdly enough an episode of mr. Rogers neighborhood came on TV and I instantly felt a million times better
Andrew Crane it’s funny cause I’m the exact same so like whenever I’m feeling sad and paranoid I put on an episode of mr rogers and I instantly feel happier. That’s the magic of watching him.
Yeah, I disagree with Mr. Hanks there. When I worked on the show, there wasn't a production go by when at least a couple people in the crew would be staring into space after something Fred would say and you'd hear someone say something like, "Whoa, I never even thought of it like that."
🍕🍕🍕 TOM HANKS IS A SATANIC PREDATOR
Tom Hanks is the best actor of our time. Ethos, character and skills. A remarkable person. An example to most new (and old) actors out there.
Everyone deserves love and understanding. I didn’t want this interview to end! We will always treasure and cherish Mr. Fred Rogers
My favorite part of all these videos about this film is reading the comments from people who were touched by the grace of Mr. Fred Rogers.
Thank you, neighbors.
We got Mr. Dressup in Canada, but seeing Mister Rogers movie yesterday gave me such an appreciation for him
Dale Wilson im Canadian also but I grew up with me Rogers far more then me dress up both lovely guys and bob Ross but mr Rogers is everything but mr dress up was lovely too
Canadian here i loved mr dressup
He’s got it nailed about Pittsburgh. Grew up there. My mother taught early childhood education and met Mr Rogers. You’d have thought she met God from how my friends reacted.
It's not just Pittsburgh though. Joan Rivers interviewed him on the tonight show and she was the same way. He's so loving and kind, he just disarms people. People rightly don't expect him to be as kind in person, no matter how many people come up and bug him to talk and fawn over him.
Tom Hanks and Fred Rogers are both of my idols!!
His son Colin also played Fred Rogers in an episode of Drunk History!
It’s like it was meant to be....
this film no joke is one of the best pieces of cinema for the decade, the cast as a whole is so moving and the story is so well crafted i can't even

I loved the Tom's spectacles, Stunning looks as well
Tom Hanks said “a$$”! 😮 I’ll never be the same!
Being British I never got to watch Mr Rogers but after having watched this movie I feel as if I really missed out. Tom Hanks played such a beautiful part in portraying a true soul. We DO take Mr. Rogers seriously here in the Burgh.
