I think the standard dark blue African violet is the prettiest. I have been a lover of these plants for years. But have never purchased one. So, with that being said, next week I am going to buy a couple of them. I am fairly new to being a plant owner. I own cacti, succulent plants, one orchid, and starting next week will have two of these beauties. It's been sort of a therapy for me. June of this year, I lost my brother to suicide. And I needed something to occupy my spare time. Before I lost myself in a dark hole of grief. And it has helped me tremendously to own plants. I just take one day at a time these days.
This makes me want to get some african violets again. When we move I had to give away half of my orchid collection and I'm finding it hard to find a good place for them in our new home. I have thought about the light panels for them but they are just too expensive at the moment. Morning coffe with you is the best.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I love all of your videos and I especially love that you include African Violet videos. They really do complement orchids very well. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!
I just separated a bunch of babies “Buckeye Nostalgia”, from their parent leaf, a few weeks ago. These 4 little plants are very vigorous; they’re in reused Keurig coffee pods, but they’ll soon outgrow these little pots.
Beautiful violets💜💜💜If you want all your flowers in the center just move the stems in between the leaves to the center. I think it looks much prettier that way looks like a bouquet of flowers 👍🏾
Thank you for sharing this! Have you ever looked into starting a Streptocarpus collection? They're closely related to African Violets but are a lot more interesting in my opinion 😄 I have a bunch of them and they're so beautiful!
Good timing. I have two leaves that have sprouted several babies each. I've been really hesitating to separate the babies because I'm afraid to kill them. They are so tiny. I know it has to be done because they have filled the tiny pot I was using to propagate.
Hey, today I realized two of my phals have some white veeery tiny dots on some roots (those roots look bad) and the dots move around but only on those roots. The healthier roots look fine. I am not sure if those are spidermites or what they are, my phals are very healthy looking though, one is even growing a flower spike. What can I do dont want to disturb by repotting. They are both in leca
I’ve found the fastest, surest way to propagate AV leaves is a half and half mix of perlite/vermiculite, but some people in my club say algae water works best!!!
I have been looking to buy LE Aramis everywhere and the only one I can find near me is on an Etsy Store that is shut down for now. Do you know of places I can get LE Aramis?
The only issue I have with leaf propagation is that fantasy types don't tend to propagate true and those are what I collect. I do have some propagating for sports though.
Hi, yes I've heard that too and I have a fantasy which didn't bloom true sadly and a few that did. I think they should be treated as chimeras by sellers really, but the price would be bigger too.
@@MissOrchidGirl I do treat my fantasies as chimeras, not really propagating them by leaves, but rather to try and pollinate it. I have a Playful Spectrum crossed with RS Margarita, but the seedpod has not swelled up yet. I also have ordered fantasy seeds from Ron Nadeau, who I have heard produces some pretty good plants.
hi danny, love your videos, and as a non english speaking person myself, i also love your english. one thing though, please watch your adverb at the end of your sentence. you ll be perfect if you do, sorry i didn't write properly today. love all your flowers.

What does sports mean?
If I purchase peet moss do I have to change the acidity of it before I use it for the violets?
Could you recommend any treatment for mildew? My violets flowers always develop it. The leaves are fine it's just the flowers.

Hi, I like good old tap water, roots in 1-2 weeks 😆

When would I be able to repot a baby violet into a bigger pot?
How long do blooms tend to last? No one really seems to talk about that online
Hi, well mine lasted for about 3-4 weeks I guess, maybe a bit more. They last a long time and I think people lose track of them :p
Hey girl, really enjoy your videos. Could you send me link to lights features? Much appreciate it. Nora B in Brownsville, TX
