I’m so tired of people asserting that if two men are close, they must’ve been gay. Men can have incredibly close friendships, they are called best friends.
I guess those people are unaware and/or ignorant about platonic love since the Ancient Greeks believed in four types of love which include Eros that is erotic love obviously, Philia which is the love of friends as well as equals, Storge the love of parents towards their children then finally Agape that's essentially just love of mankind as a whole aka unconditional love.
Don’t you know? If men have male friends they are obviously gay, if men have female friends they are obviously cheating on their girlfriend. So the only solution is to be friendless i guess.
They genuinely don't believe that. That's why there's this weird push to say any historical or even fictional figure who had any kind of friendship with a member of the same sex was gay.
These people have never had friends. Likely because they are simply too narcissistic.
@@georgeray1906 Actually they thought the ancient Greeks was a gay paradise
“Half the children in Brian’s class are non-binary!” That’s got to be the most horrible movie quote of all time.
Because trans is the new emo, a fad & nothing more.

I’m gay and this movie makes me understand why people are homophobic
I don't understand how this movie was shown in as many theaters as it was; did they not see the trailer?, or were they not given a choice?
@@chcarroll5164I remember seeing trailers for this, and was immediately turned off by it.
I'm glad I waited until it was out on a streaming platform that I had so I didn't have to pay for it. It felt way too preachy. I watched it for the hot boyfriend.
"I don't fear the gay, they fear me" -Sun Tzu
Even if it was good it was going to bomb. The problem with a very gay centric film is that it simply doesn’t have a large enough potential audience to produce $140 million + that this movie needed to break even. The straight audience is just that much larger. That said, if I heard this film was good, I might watch it on streaming, but I’m not paying $15 to see it in a theater when I don’t know anyone else that wants to see it in a theater either.
It’s just simple financial reality.

I'm gay, and it isn't. And none of my hundreds of gay friends think that way either. This is a product of woke Hollywood, and nothing to do with gay men.
Worse yet. Every single line of this film sounds like it's a parody of the LGBTQ Communty(tm) from their mad obsession with sex to their sole tactic being rewriting existing things to be LGBTQ to never EVER STFU about LQBTQ. But it's entirely serious.
This movie's writing is more than just terrible. *_It's insulting,_* especially of the very demographic it's trying to pander to.
When an Adam Sandler comedy about two straight men pretending to be gay, makes for a more pleasing and endearing couple than the actual gay couple...

I’m a… elder millennial gay man. This movie is basically a representation of my worst nightmare come true. Growing up was difficult for me because i was constantly made fun of. I was quiet, sensitive… I didn’t really like “boy stuff” mainly because I didn’t relate. I knew I was different at a very young age but I was always scared to bring it up because it was frowned upon. One thing that always bothered me was when I came out, IMMEDIATELY everyone thought I was sexually promiscuous. Everyone assumed I was having butt sex…. I tried my whole young adult life to convince people that as a gay man, I was more than my sexual orientation. I’m an artist, I love being creative, and I love everything beautiful about this world. I love my family and friends.…. Everything was going so great around 2015 and I was starting to feel respected as a human being, and not just some gay guy…. I don’t know what’s going on today but current LGBTQ+ LMNOP123 non binary, gender-fluid…. What the FUCK! It’s overwhelming… just like this movie! I literally wanted to have a panic attack every single fucking minute of this movie. It was horrible!!! trust me. There’s a lot of us out there who don’t agree with a lot of this crap and we’re just watching everything we’ve worked for crumble down to the ground. This is a nightmare.
Bro, men can have deep and meaniful relationships with one another without being gay. I'm sure women can too, but gays have queered the pitch. Gay men look on real male to male relationships as straight men look at a relationship with women. And they aren't the same at all, and you wrecked that for us. To someone who only has a hammer everything looks like a nail. Straight people are not one dimensional.
gg
Well put. The vast majority of people have no problem with gays, only the pushing of transsexuality on minors has upset people, not transexuals per se. When people- mainly egomaniacs- talk as if they're the spokesperson for all gay people, they're taking liberties not with straight people, ONLY gay people. I think it's for gay people to discard every letter that comes after LGB in the ever growing alphabet of "Anything but Straight". Even being gay is seen as bigoted in a system where certainties can no longer exist.
Unfortunately its the loud ones that are heard the most. Its stupid to think that gay people are any more promiscuous than straight people, I mean we have shows like love island with a bunch of straight people being absolutely bonkers about s€x.
People are people and they shouldn’t form their personalities on just the fact they either want to f other people or don’t.
You aren't gay. You're a person with deviant sexual interests, which have either been spurred on by influences in your life or just purely spontaneously. Either way, it's up to you to choose whether or not you give into these things. Also pretty strange how gay people still have sex organs.... none of it makes any sense.

Bros has got to be one of the most mean-spirited movies ever made. If their goal was to make people homophobic, they succeeded pretty well at that.
I'm only 9 minutes in and yet I've seen almost every negative stereotype about the gay community. All that's missing is a rampant STD epidemic and hamster abuse.
As someone in middle school. This movie feels like it was made by teenagers whose only mind set was gay=funny.
I'm bisexual and I agree with you, this film was purposely made to breed homophobia, this film is nothing but disgusting hateful propaganda and anyone LGB person who enjoys it should be branded a traitor!
"If their goal was to make people homophobic"
That seems to have been the goal of the entire gay movement for at least the last decade.
I always saw homosexuality as a sexual preference. This director managed to make it political AND sound like a conglomerate of political extremists.

I wouldn't be surprised if Billy Eichner's resumé read as follows: "I'm gay."
There is absolutely no chance that the word "gay" doesn't appear atleast once.
Billy´s Wiki has "gay" 17 times, IMDB 7 times. If I searched various combinations of "lgbtqjhfd+-*/" the number would go up massively. You´re welcome :p
Is it time to stop treating this as if it's a lie and just admit the truth?
'gay sex in front of kids' 'teach 7 year olds about sex' 'it's not that young' 'I was shown gay things as a child and am fine'
Because this feels like an accidental mask off moment for William here.
You forgot "we're talking about gay kids here"
Yeah I noticed that - they so often end up telling on themselves.
The P has really wormed their way into the Rainbow Mafia, haven't they?
And I'm not talking about so-called Pansexuals.
This is disgusting, would still be disgusting if it was about straight sexual content and there are many gays trying to distance themselves of people who think like this groomer. Yet we can't ignore that this really exists and is a threat to our children. Not the gay people, the groomers.
Teaching kids regarding this topic should NEVER involve sex…imagine asking your dad/mom how you were born and they explain process of sex to you at 7 years old…that’s gonna cause damages to you…
"That's actually the best time to teach them, when they're young, you know, that way they develop an appreciation for queer people..."
Right there. That line right there hits a bit different now, doesn't it?
Bro say less. I did a double take.
Saying the quiet part out loud.
saying that they want to introduce gay people as 'part of life' so that people feel compelled to be gay to fit in or whatnot...it's a combination of social engineering and societal grooming, only their cause is so stupid that it doesn't feel like a big deal even though it really is.

I'm bi and I'm honestly sick of this self congratulatory attitude many people in the lgbt community put forth. Being gay or lesbian or whatever is not interesting, it's not a personality, it's a sexual preference. People making into their entire identity are usually very shallow and uninteresting people, which is why this movie sucked and nobody saw it
My cousin is gay and has been married to his gay husband for like 15 years now. I asked if they were gonna go see Bros. He said he and his husband had no interest in seeing a rom com. They said the great thing about being gay is they don't have to watch girly movies.
I think it's possible that men, even gay men, don't necessarily enjoy romantic comedies.
He should've made an action movie full of shirtless men. That'd probably get gay men in seats.
Exactly! Like claiming that if you are heterosexual, you *have* to like Tommy Wiseau's "The Room."
A romcom about 2 men has got to cater to the smallest niche in cinema; men aren't known for liking romcoms (and being gay doesn't automatically switch your other preferences), straight women wouldn't be able to drag their partner to it, and lesbians wouldn't be interested. It was going to struggle even if it wasn't godawful.
@@CarrionCrow993 agreed. This film had quite possibly the smallest target audience in the history of mainstream cinema releases, and it had a larger budget than Godzilla Minus One - without even adjusting for inflation. This whole concept should never have been more than a quirky theatre play.

It's funny, they tried so hard to make the gay characters seem normal but they made them out to be offensive caricatures with their sexuality being their defining trait.

The Birdcage was brilliant and hilarious, even if I was technically too young to be watching it but... I loved Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, may the former R.I.P. but even that movie did well in addressing the struggle of being LGB, not including drag in the T, but the whole thing was handled so much more tastefully. Probably because Nathan Lane wouldn't settle for a trash production, as he was the BEST version of the Camp Gay archetype.
It doesn't help the movie's name and poster didn't scream romance when it looks something out of a porno ad.

I’m gay myself and literally couldn’t get through the first scene. Wtf were they thinking with this?
They weren't thinking at all. This is simply the few radical on your side.

This whole movie felt like a parody trying to portray gay people as the most sexually promiscuous, non-committal, and annoyingly insistent people in the world. It's no wonder that both sides of the aisle hated this movie.
I remember when I saw ads for this movie. I knew immediately that it was going to be a failure but I had absolutely no idea how much of a disastrous failure it truly was
I didn't know it did that - well. That over a million people saw it leaves a portion who aren't cynical UA-cam reviewers needing content.

It basically paints the LGBTQ community as a bunch of sex obsessed, not committal, narcists who can't go five minutes without talking about being Gay. It really does feel like a parody you'd see on South Park.
And family guy. I remember that Brian's cousin Jasper was a hated character for being so stereotyping and the Gay marriage episode was controversial. Same with Family Gay. Now these episodes are spreading everywhere but more obnoxious

Note "The Whale" was about a gay character, but done right. The majority of gay people can live their daily lives without flaunting their gayness. They live the same lives as straight people, but like men. How many opportunities do the majority of us discuss our sex lives with friends and co-workers? Either not at all or very rated G.
Great point. I wasn't even thinking about that when I included it in the video, because the Whale's sexuality isn't made a big deal of in the movie; in Bros, it is the movie.
What's funny is that WOMEN do that more than men. Men might go as far as "I tapped that" or "She's wild in bed" but that's really it. It's women, especially like nurses and such, who will have conversations about how pulled a guy into the bathroom to suck him off. Weird how straight men, the supposedly sexual predators, are the ones who are like "I don't really need to be part of this conversation."

I'm gay and I can say mouthful that "Bros" is a humongous pile of crap, filled out with stereotypes, cliches, and unnecessary drama. A very small % of us live our lives being gay 24/7. The vast majority of us live normal, regular lives, have standard jobs, and deal with daily stuff like everyone else. This is why most of us had a really hard time identifying and sympathizing with this shit. No one lives "as gay" every single second of the day, being gay is just part of who I am, but it is not who I am as a whole.
If you're only homosexual, you need a job and a hobby, if you're writing a gay character for the love of god do not define them only by their sexuality.
There's nothing wrong with being homosexual, just don't define your life by it.
You are obviously homophobic...
I would assume it’s the equivalent to those frat boy stereotypes of straight men who only think about “boobs” and are creepy with women.

This movie was doomed the minute it had Billy Eichner involved as star and writer. Billy was by no means a draw nor was he particularly well liked or respected. It just makes no sense. The fact that the film mocks Schitts Creek is a riot because Dan Levy would have made a more endearing lead and probably would have written a better script.
If gay people related in the least to this, there would have been support. He forgets that gays have impeccable good taste, the fact they stayed away speaks volumes
One of the things i hate about characters like Billy Eichner's self-insert is that they are written so that they entire character is completely centered around their gender, sexuality, race, with them having absolutely no personality besides that single characteristic.

If nothing else, that scene where they are all sitting at the table whining about various stuff perfectly encapsulates them as a people. Miserable, always wanting more, always bickering, always correcting each other, talking over top of each other, screaming for no reason, throwing around buzzwords like they were conjunctions, worried about representation... and, of course, being as unfunny and unlikeable as humanly possible.
I was thinking the very same thing and that there's often more infighting within the communities instead of doing anything good.

There is a BIG difference between being gay and being Billy Eichner.
Finding out that Billy basically made himself an echo chamber in the people involved makes SO much sense now. When I saw this film watching any scene where he’s spouting his theories and beliefs I was thinking “Wow, this guy is talking like ‘ this is the way it is and everyone agrees with me.’ “ probably because everyone around him agreed with him.
They really missed a great opportunity. They could of shown the struggle of a middle aged gay man who wants to find a serious partner to share the rest of his life with and finally settle down. Unfortunately, all he can find is hyper sexual younger gay men that are only interested in hook up culture and one night stands. So now he is in a panic that he will grow old and die alone, especially when his physical attractiveness diminishes.
Every single gay friend my age is going through this same exact struggle in their lives, and I think it would have been a great way to address a real world problem.
Would actually be a interesting movie not gonna lie
That's really no different than any other person who worries about that though. And it's not as if being gay is a handicap either. The story has been done to death. It's boring when it's specifically about what is now been pushed to the absurdity it us now - KINK & pedophiles on display & drag/tranzing being forced onto kids as a normal gay thing to "progress" into.
You wrote a better movie in a comment section. How is no one else in the industry creative enough to do that? And that idea has universal appeal because a lot of middle aged people have had similar experiences with trying to reconnect with people after the death of a loved one or a divorce. They don't want to engage with hookup culture at that age. That would have helped the movie make money.

What is ironic about the "Jar Jar Binks" effect, is that Lucas had already run into the same issue with the Ewoks. It could have just as easily been called the "Ewok Effect."
Ewoks were George Lucas's self insert character....🤔🤫🤭
The Ewoks actually compromised a story thread that started in Empire with Chewie rescuing C-3PO and carrying the droid on his back for safety. Though technically it starts in Chapter 4 with Chewie not tearing C-3PO's arm off after losing at chess, but I digress. Anyway, the Ewoks were supposed to be Wookies, but they cut their costuming budget literally in half and had built in toys for Kenner to sell by adding them.
Chewie was supposed to return home, essentially bringing God with him, and would be eternally revered by his clan. A huge life-changing aspect of the character shaved off for budget and marketing purposes.

It is not an audience's responsibility to "show up" or "support" your film. It is YOUR responsibility as a film maker to make films that an audience actually wants to see and is willing to plunk down their cold, hard cash for. Hollywood has a ton of waking up to do.
Being an out gay man myself, I've never seen the appeal in a movie such as this. My view is that if a person wants to see a romantic comedy, they are lacking something in the romantic department. Eichner seems to have deep-seated and unresolved issues regarding his sexuality that likely started when he was young.
Festering over the years until they have all but eclipsed his psyche, his Personality now revolves around being gay....and being gay is his personality. Thus to not accept his homosexuality is to not accept HIM.
This unresolution of himself has also manifested into an encompassing and critical self-loathing, either at a conscious or even sub-conscuous level, thus he absolutely must have the acceptance of others to fill the vacuum of never quite being able to accept himself.
On the one hand he seems to admire straight, confident males, but on the other he hates them and is jealous of them. This may be why he seeks their praise in some situations but throws veiled putdowns and exhibits passive-aggressive behavior at others.
He is possibly quite dynamic and assertive sometimes, but most of the time suffers from a complete lack of confidence and paper-thin ego. This is why he must surround himself with those who agree with him at all times.
In the end, it is HE that cannot seem to reckon with his homosexuality, but in a desperate attempt to compensate and self -love, he constantly externalizes this inner-conflict to the outer world. Being completely self-absorbed with his problems of himself, he lacks self-awareness and doesn't realize that most people don't like him, not because of his sexuality, but because of his own preoccupation with it which makes him pretentiously insufferable.

The actors are amazing, i've always loved Nathan Lane and Robin Williams, everyone is so funny in it, all of the characters are great, the story is great, the messages are great, everyone has great chemistry, it's really heartwarming and endearing, super funny, the relationships in it are realistic, i've probably watched it a hundred times over the years since I first saw it, and it's something I always watch when I need a pick me up because it's just that funny and enjoyable. Yes there was a time when LGB actually did useful things not pointless provocation only.
Bill Eichner did zero market research for the male-male romance genre market. He got his target demographics all wrong. For starters the romance genre is mostly consumed by women. The male-male genre in particular brings in straight women. Where did Bros appeal to straight chicks? Nowhere. He made it clear it is a movie purely for gay men. Straight women do not care about the LGBT museum or any of the commentary about the gay community. If anything a lot of the comments like introducing children to gay stuff is a massive turn off for most women. He needed to keep the social commentary out and the issues that were dealt with needed to be more universal in nature. Even most gays don't like the overly woke preaching. They want to actually enjoy the movie and not be preached at. The general formula for a successful gay flick is take a straight drama and replace the chick with a dude. That is all. Don't try to change anything else. Also final note: Don't make main lead look like a beta loser. He needs to look either cool or cute.
It's amazing how this movie even repulsed WOMEN, the sole demographic pushing the romance genre to the most successful genre in media.
Straight women have a big interest in gay movies, proven by call me by your name, heartstoppers, royal blue, call me by your name and countless anime. But you have to do it the right way.
