  • Hi! My name is Morgan and I am a neuroscience graduate student. I have been studying the brain for 5+ years now and today I am reacting to Elon Musk's Neuralink. Join me on this journey into a dystopian nightmare that I think only exists in Elon's head. He has a lot of big plans for the Neuralink right now, but from what I've seen he just invented a fitbit that goes in your skull. But hey, if you want to let him track your every move, that's your own personal decision and I support you!
Link to the original press release: • Neuralink Progress Upd...
Link to the video I'm watching: • Neuralink Update 2020 ...
Let me know what reaction videos you'd like to see next. I have some fun ones planned that will give you fewer dystopian vibes, coming soon!

this isn't how the machines take over this is how we take over the machines.
he made this so we can stay on equal footing with ai so humanity doesn't become obsolete

I like that you are skeptical but remain open minded.

The reason I can see this working is that he has gotten neuroscientists, engineers, surgeons, software engineers and all sorts of sciences involved in this. It is not necessarily a business venture headed only by business people trying to coin a quick profit over installing brain chips. People dont realise that all the info big corps would want from you is already provided in the phones and websites we use. We are technically cyborgs already, your phone and social media already reflect the exact person you are. The mission of this project is to first help those people who need it - brain and spinal injury victims. This is all tested by the same federation that tests every other electrical and technological devices you use and give your personal information to. We have gone through this cycle of "this tech is all dystopian and couldnt work" before. I appreciate your concern but I trust people that try to help the world over profit hunting companies.

Lmao, one of the founders spoke against Elon's claim. Elon worshipers are amazingly stupid. At best the actual neuralink product will make prosthetics amazing and at worst it will be nothing.

@@agentprismarine2778 ex co workers spoke against falcon 9 rockets landing themselves at all. Said the company would completely shut down. Now we have them landing frequently and they have NASA contracts as well. But oh well I guess, imagination means fuck all to some people 🙂

@@averageyoutubeuser5537 except, this "co worker" ( actually a founder, musk wasn't a founder ) still holds a few patents associated with neuralink. Spacex was almost bankrupt. Elon invests in Innovative companies like Tesla and neuralink and then drives the founders away from the company. He's a modern day Thomas Edison.

@@averageyoutubeuser5537 also also, NASA and spaceX have different goals. Also also Tesla stocks P/E rating is 1000 which is an indicator of whether a stock is overvalued or not. For context that for apples is around 40.

@Joseph NOPE, musk isn't an actual founder what he has is the title of retroactive co-founder which is just a title, he didn't find tesla. He was approached by the founder looking for investment but he was not one. And once he was on the board he basically took over by the fact that he had invested it. MUSK TOOKOVER THE COMPANY WHICH HE DIDN'T FIND. And once Tesla was on the brink of collapse he blamed the founder but the problem was his fault not the founders ( the problem was the roadster was too expensive because of how MUSK wanted it to look cool and that nearly bankrupted the company ). Similarly Musk has the title of founder of neuralink. What musk does is do this kind of shady things to have the image that he some innovative techno god but he is not, don't be fooled. Plus Musk doesn't actually hold the patents used by nerualink but the actual founders do, one of whom has spoken against musk. Edison and Musk are a**holes who just took away stuff from the actual geniuses who didn't know any better.

I think the sound wouldn't be processed as vibrations, but rather as electrical signals directly. So your brain wouldn't need to process the vibrations into electrical signals. The elctrical signals would be served directly to your brain if that makes sense.

Thank you for giving your point of view as a neuroscientist. I am doing my thesis in transcranial direct current stimulation and I am glad to know I am not the only one who finds this shady! I doubt he would be able to stimulate/record activity from multiple brain areas (other than indirectly). But if he could, I can see a very dystopian future ahead. This is why we need bioethics

Hi, I know this video is from a while ago so you may have some different thoughts but I saw in the big bang video that your channel is relatively new & you are trying to grow subscribers. I just wanted to give some constructive feedback that I found it really hard to continue watching the video with the audio quality the way it was, with the background noise and the loud spacebar pausing of the vid. I heard that it's better to invest in audio quality over video quality because people will watch a low-quality vid with high-quality sound but not the other way around.

Hi there! Thank you for the constructive criticism, you were way more polite than some people on this platform(: I actually got a fairly good quality microphone shortly after filming this video and the audio quality has improved a lot. I also got better at editing out some of the annoying sounds but I am still learning lol. I hope you enjoy my more recent videos more!

Hate the neuralink absolutely despise it, very dystopian. however, if he can predict almost perfect accuracy where our limbs are and what they are doing, the potential for vr or normal videogames is, incredible, instead of wearing big haptic gloves you could just move your hand as your hand. It could tell how hard you squeeze an object in game or how hard you punch an enemy, you could play games that require small motor movements like building a motor in game using to scale tiny tiny parts, flawless potential, for SURE gonna be used for evil lex luthor stuff tho

honestly i think your perspective is biased, you think he'll control your brain?? well, that depends on the software. i myself wouldn't allow this if i wasn't 100% sure the software wasn't evil.
i understand the risk, they exist, but you should play at the best side of the opposition to try to be non biased and give fair due. i think this tech will be great.
I never saw elon musk as evil, i learned today some people do. I am glad you made this video and good luck!
