Great video. I remember Clem’s seafood. I grew up on caswell beach in the 80’s. That road directly across from Clem’s led to a dead end and there was a car path that went along Dutchmen creek that ran into the rock jetty. I remember fishing that jetty with my dad and catching lots of red’s during the fall into December. Looks like a lot of growth in that particular area now. Last time I fished OKI was in October 2012 on caswell. Buddy hooked and landed a 44 inch bull red from the surf. Closer to the lighthouse. Anyhoo enjoyed the video 🤙🏻👍
@@SandsintheSurf definitely. I will get down there this fall. It’s been a few years. I live just north of you in morehead city. Decent surf fishing around here. Fort Macon etc
Nice video. I have always released all the puffer fish I catch. Now I need to keep the larger ones to eat! I occasionally fish Oak island. Great place. 🎣
Back in the 70 s we found a deep hole about a quarter mile from the end of the ft Caswell Pier it was about 50 ft deep we could fill a cooler in 30 minutes with 1.5 pound Crocker's.
there are several good shops but you can't go wrong with Dutchman's Creek. They have everything you need and the staff is great! Tell them I sent you ;)
Some people like to use light weight so the bait move freely in the water. I however like my bait to stay right where I put it. In the surf, I’m either 3 or 4 oz.

Growth everywhere. You probably wouldn’t even recognize it.

I even recall seeing croaker at the grocery in SC about a decade ago
What local shop near OKI would you recommend to buy a rod/reel/rig/hooks?

Hi, is a NC fishing license needed for surf casting in Oak Island? I have a VA license.
Yes, but you can get a ten day coastal license for I think about $11. Here’s a link www.eregulations.com/northcarolina/fishing/fishing-licenses
@@SandsintheSurf Fantastic; thank you!
I don't think the guy at the newer shop wanted me catching anything. Told me to get 1oz weight. Was getting pushed back up everytime.
