  • Jack and Sawyer go over some of the advantages and potential disadvantages to appendix carry and strong side carry. Some people prefer one over the other, and some can pull off both. There are a lot of variables that can determine which method of IWB carry will work best for you. We highly recommend trying multiple ways of carrying and picking the one that works best for you.

    The motions are much bigger for strong-side draw. And lifting the t-shirt around the hip definitely seems a bigger challenge.
    I carry strong -side when I wear a suit with the shirt tucked in, but appendix the rest of the time. Now I need to work on the sub-second draw from each of them.

    Great points to both types of carry. I'm 1.05 on average from 3:30 carry. I say get a sidecar appendix rig and strong side carry holster to see what you like more. The sidecar spreads out the pressure against the stomach to make it more comfortable. I like having the gun appendix more for retention purposes and strong side for safety reasons.

    As a taller thinner framed guy aiwb is about my only realistic option if I want to actually have a full size gun on. With my Agis and Axis holsters the go to combo is dcc clip on mag side and plastic clip on gun side. Creates a flat profile on the belt for the shirt to sit against. Not necessary for everyone but a winning combo for me.

    • @shawnjefferds9411
      @shawnjefferds9411 Рік тому

      @@carryeveryday910 The challenge I've found is I have a comp (PMM) and light (Olight Baldr Mini) and there doesn't seem to be a AIWB that will accommodate them. Both my current OWB and IWB were built for this combo. If you know the PMM, it takes a special block fixture to put it on and off, so simply removing it a few times a week isn't practical, I almost never do, and I do not want to invest in a second light just for the sake of a holster manufacturer uninterested in supporting my setup. My 509T is set up for 50 yards, and my OBM's laser is set to 25 as a backup should the battery die unexpectedly in the RDS.

    It's actually much easier to stop you from drawing with the Appendix Carry, especially on the ground. I can literally pin your hand to your belly. Strong Side is farther away from your opponent especially if you turn your body sideways. On the ground, it's probably better because your opposite will not be able to easily get it, if you're opposite is on top of you they might just be sitting on it or they might feel it and go for it while in a dominant position.

      Thats a great point that I've never considered, I guess the trick is to find the method that has the fewest negatives and the most positives for you, seeing as no method of carry is perfect. I'm 5'10 175lbs, AIWB in a t-rex sidecar does the trick for me. I can carry a G45 / Holosun TLR7, with a 507C X2 with a flush fit mag in the gun and a 19 round spare and I feel good with that setup.

For sure it's a more natural position, but if you're walking or avoiding danger you would have both hands to a side. Also, if you need to take cover fast, the first thing you want is a car, behind the front part, probably, and crouching wouldn't be that comfortable.

      How tight do you wear your belt and do you do any adjustments prior to sitting? I usually wear my belt to where my holster is just snug and I pull up on my belt line just before sitting down. Shouldn’t dig into your gut unless you have your belt on too tight. Carrying a 5” M&P 2.0 w/ X300U and I’m 5’4” 175 lbs.

    Let me preface with i carry AIWB and Strong side depending on my clothing. Why would the reload be faster when you can carry your secondary mag in the front just like appendix when you carry strong side? That comment made zero sense. Who carries their mag anywhere but the front? Even if you carry strong side, your mag is in the front. Yes, the Draw can be faster, but what 0.03 seconds faster? Negligible and irrelevant unless you are running something like the fast drill. Even then, strong side doesn't prevent you from passing. Only down side with AIWB if you have a ND it will probably hit an artery and you are in serious trouble. Strong side, with my EDC, that is not a concern since the barrel is never in line with my body. Strong side, holstered, if my EDC goes off, not a big deal. AIWB...you are screwed, especially if sitting.
    will it happen, probably not. but you are throwing out a ton of what-ifs.

    • @Tier1Concealed
      @Tier1Concealed  Рік тому

      A lot of people do carry a spare mag on their hip or just behind it, some people carry it appendix, depends on the individual. And we've all seen pictures of strong side carry guns going off and hitting their hip, butt, or leg.

    • @ponraul1221
      @ponraul1221 6 місяців тому +1

      Empty chamber is stupid. The attacker won’t wait for you to chamber a round. There’s easily found examples of where this has gotten people hurt or killed. It only gives the enemy more time to have the drop on you.
      You’re not at war until you are, and as a defender, you don’t have the luxury of deciding when the war starts.
