Well I know what I'm buying. Actually useful motherboard software is a new concept to me. As someone who was worrying how I was going to manage all 8 of my new Noctua PWM fans, I'm so glad there's this awesome solution.

I've gone with Gigabyte for a long time and I'm not sure if they go this far in their software, but this could really sway me to go Asus next time. My last Asus board had a loud pop and smelled like burnt electronics during a stress test, but it was just defective. (it was only running stock volts with higher frequency)

I was running the AI 5way optimization stress test, and I opened task manager and it was only utilising 8% of my cpu. Later the system crashed whilst I was running real bench and it indeed was utilising 100% cpu power. Shame that this doesn't really stress test.

My 5820K stress test crashed at the 4800mhz 2/3 stress test after locking it at 3.80v and showed a maximum of 3.79v with a max temp of 67 degrees. When the results came in it showed 4700mhz at 70 degrees. It recommended 1w so I guess I will lock it at 3.9mhz. by default it stays at 4950-low 4600 so may increase when in use, not sure. Aida64 Extreme stress test was also stable at 100% First time overclocking. Ant small tweak recommendations?
It was my first serious overclock and had it for a year. I tried to do it before but and got it to 4370 with easy tuning, had to reset bios and easy tuning always crashes. The tutorials I find are usually in Gigabyte Bios (which looks more simple) and not the ASUS X99-e WS bios which looks too different and harder to understand what you are reading in order to tweak. But the 5-Way Optimizer is Amazing!
Edit: it gave me that extra 1000mhz (4700mhz) after increasing it to 1.39v but lowered it back to 4600mhz for extra safety even though it went half way through the 4800mhz stress test lol.

Guess I got lucky. My 5930K Hits 4.7 GHz on the auto overclock tool, though its unstable. 4.6 seems to be the sweet spot, however its not clocking my RAM at its XMP setting of 2666. I had to do a BLCK OC to force it to stay at that 2666 instead of the lower clock the auto OC was doing.

    1. Wenn i connect my WD 1TB Green drive the systhem boots but is stuck at the Press F2 to setup screen. Mouse and keyboard arent working

    3. Asus auto update isnt working.

      - Whole system optimization with a single click! 5-Way Optimization tuning key perfectly consolidates TPU, EPU, DIGI+ Power Control, Fan Xpert 3, and Turbo App together, providing better CPU performance, efficient power saving, precise digital power control, whole system cooling and even tailor your own app usages.

Huge question - Does Corsair Link (water cooler, psu monitor and controller in my case) - is this going to be over ran by dual intelligent processors 5 (asus x99 deluxe usb 3.1) -- I can't find anything about conflicts but i with my H100iGTX water cooler, I have to have the settings all the way up for the fans to even work - I dont want to ditch corsair link because it's how i monitor the visual if the cpu is overheating because i can have the heat sink change colors. I hope this makes sense - no fan control is corsair link (software) the issue - i used the expansion fan controller that came with the mobo - it shows extension fan 1 2 3 but hitting the fan to test and figure out which is which, it does nothing. -- this is my system -- pcpartpicker.com/user/AEON_Artistry/saved/ ---- also, the case has a fan controller on it as well and either dual intelligent processors 5 or corsair link doesn't let it do anything or it's not hooked up right. Boost DOES work on ramping up the speed. Power saving is set to auto at the moment on dual intelligent processors 5.

    Hi JJ,
Do I need to leave the XMP profile on if I want to oc the ram? Mine is currently running at nominal 2133mhz.
Also, do I need to turn the XMP profile from bios or the XMP switch within the board itself?
I would like to OC my ram up to 2400mhz.
What could be the best option within the Asus software to OC the ram and the cpu
    Thanks.

Honestly, any motherboard with the word "gaming" in it will work. Even the B-chipset works quite well. If you can get a deal on a good B81 or B87 motherboard now, go for it. If you already have a crappy Dell or HP computer at home, you can take the windows license ($100), hard drive ($50-$120), and maybe the RAM out. You can also grab the DVD player ($20). With those covered you can build a solid computer for cheap. Get an i3 with a B or H series MB for under $200 (Microcenter, always buy CPU+MB at Microcenter), a PSU+ case for $100, an entry-level graphics card for $80-$100 (or a better one for the same price on Ebay), then you only need RAM (or some extra RAM).
The modular aspect of PC's allows you to add and improve over time. Keep in mind that all of these components are far better than the garbage you get in a store-bought computer.,

    Used the software, hit 4.7Ghz.
Performance was WAY worse than my manual overclocking use the buss at 125. Plus it wouldn't allow me to take the Mem up to 3000Mhz, which it's spec'd for. 4.5Ghz, memory and buss gave me way more performance. Typically software that can find your OC sucks. This software sucks, too. Blah, avoid it
Plus I think the Asus X99 board is the worst board Asus has released. It's simply garbage. I hate mine with a passion

Why would you run the case open? do you not realize you're actually reducing the cooling potential by creating turbulence?
Oh right, nvm, this is just about showing off an not about any kind of practical testing. Carry on newbies.

Rigtht so we agree. I preferred the closed case demo's. :P

Open source your software and have it run on various OS's or gtfo.

Given you can't even get this software for ASUS ROG boards, which is their high end overclocking line, I wouldn't be worried that you can't download this bloatware on anything buy windows. Honestly I'd recommend anyone looking to overclock to do it from the bios, if you don't know how to do that chances are your not going to understand the significance of each option in configuring this automatic tool, which wouldn't be a problem if the default was the most conservative option, but its unfortunately not as it only does 15 sec tests and not the additional productivity workload.

Hamish McGregor Indeed, all overclocking should be done in the BIOS but for me that feature is useless anyway. I mostly want fan controlling software as my BIOS sucks for that, they have it on Windows just not anything else.

You can get fan control software for Linux just fine...the most common (and basic) of which literally being just called "Fan Control", which works fine and will use a fraction of the system resources of a larger tool like the one in this video.
Would open source have been nice? Yes, but its hardly an expectation, especially when Asus motherboard technically can do everything this program does from the bios, so you don't even loose features for not using it.
On a final note, ALL of the settings the auto overclock plays with (inc fan control) are stored on the motherboard, so you could boot to windows off a sata HDD (remember it can be download it from the Microsoft website for free and it runs for like 30 days before it requires authentication), download this software, run it then wipe that HDD, all your settings will remain.

***** If it works then I congratulate you because I've had issues with my previous motherboards not working with PWM fans very well through the BIOS.

ASUS doesn't meet my professional needs because they don't make Linux centos drivers and software. Disappointing
