They are sitting in a room with at least 5 monitors plugged up behind them just for show. Not to mention the mobo's lying around. I thought it would end with Logan using that old GTX card as a coffee holder.
I have Asus Z97-pro, i7-4790k, air cooler Arctic i30. First i loved this application. It was easy to overclocked, but then realized that CPU fan allways runs at full speed in OS mode. That was annoying, also at 4.5 MHz the core volt was above 1.33V. Then i clear CMOS and manualy overclocked in BIOS. I had to remove 5Way optimization aplication from PC. PC now runs at 4.6MHz, 1.280V ,44°C CPU fan speed is 1190.
My AI suite 3 doesn't look like this. It's the ROG version. There is no option to chose a max temp or target cpu frequency. All I can choose is 4.4 4.6 or 4.8
***** I also made the mistake of buying a RoG Hero VII because ASUS had the auto-tuning feature... It never crossed my mind that only the mainstream boards would have that option and not the RoG ones... Why the hell you do not make it available for the enthusiast line if you already have the technology... It makes no sense... That way we would have the option of doing it manually ot automatically I was hesitating between ASUS RoG and MSI Gaming, I've chosen RoG because you had this feature.... Guess I made a mistake, MSI Gaming line has OC Genie... RoG has some predefined unoptimized profiles... I am really disappointed with this... :( Any plans on making it available for RoG MB's?
Mast3r Race apart from that, why remove features from the higher line MB software, it makes no sense... I'm not an overclocker, I feel safer doing it with the software and choose ASUS because of it. :| Any idea on where can I get decent info to overclock in this MB?
***** There is really nothing unsafe about it. The only thing you need to change in the voltage and the multiplier. If you really MUST use software AI Suite can auto overclock it for you I think.
***** about to click the order button for my Skylake build and doubting whether I go for a ROG or MSI, I think I'll go for the MSI. ROG was maybe a big thing when it came out, but the MSI gaming boards seem better now.
Hi guys, can you help me? I'm trying to recognize my top and front fans in this program to manage their speeds but i cant find where i enable this option. in your video i saw you have 5 fans in the fax expert menu, how didi you get it? In my Al suite 3 dont show the advanced mode, did you know why? Tnks for your attention! Ps: i'm from Brazil, so excuse my bad english!
Thanks ASUS for not having the same features on your TOP TIER line. Not that I need it but it is ridiculous you would purposely leave features out of your best MB.
+Casual Player On the website! Search google for Asus Z97-P Drivers; And go to software or something similar. There you'll see AI suite 3. way Optimization is just a technique and not software ^-^
1. Does this work in an esxi (bare metal hypervisor) enviroment? 2. If not, is there a plug-in that does? 2a. Or does it require a virtual machine to have vt-d functionality to allow direct access to certain sensors or modules?
My laptop gets to 105 C watching UA-cam videos ._. One of those situations where the entire line of products is defective (I would consider that defective) but the manufacturer won't do a thing about it.
Re: duration of the load test: Nice, and maybe in the next version they will find out, that they could have easily automated that setting too, by monitoring delta T over a period of time (and eventually allow people to define what the delta T and the period of time should be) - so that they can get the guesswork out of the equation, and make a more generic solution, fitting people with stock air coolers, as well as with custom water coolers with multiple 480 mm rads (cooling systems with different thermal inertia).
Little stupid question here but here we go , do i have to turn on some switches on the motherboard to get the 5way optimization . Thanks for any sarcastic or funny answers .
Question for JJ. I just bought a ROG Hero 7. Based on comments below, this auto tune is not available for the ROG series! What auto tune is available for the Z97 Rog boards. How about a tutorial.
i have a Asus z97 Sabertooth but the 5-way optimization tool is not included in the installer. Can we expect these tools to be available in the future?
Just a question regarding which motherboards have this feature. Does the ASUS Z97-m Plus have this feature to auto over lock the CPU? I'm planning to build a micro atx pc
Is it worth it to buy a z97 board and a k series part from Intel if I might overclock?I say might because if the motherboard has a one click overclock I'll use that, but I'm not really keen to mess around with numbers for hours to find a sweet spot for the cpu.
You don't have to mess around with numbers in any of the Z77, Z87 and Z97 boards. All of them have auto features in the UEFI. It's super easy. This just takes it to another level.
Honestly, at this point, pick the one that looks best for your build and one your budget. All the mid-to-high end boards are great quality and have lots of features (slight differences).
Video is a bit old but hey I am just learning about OC cpu's and gpu's. Think I have it all down now. Manually through bios and well AI Suite. The problem I have with AI Suite is that it is giving me a high voltage that is not needed to oc my cpu. You all were talking about staying in the 1.27v correct. AI suite had me at 1.32 with there way of over clocking. I have an i7 4790 and at stable setting the volts to 1.27 I can hit exactly what Ai suite does with way less voltage. Hitting 4.7 ghz at an average of 32c. I like the program but just wanted to point that out.
This alone makes the ASUS boards worth it. Fucking amazing. A lot of other UEFI's have similar abilities but this is the best and most thought out software solution.
need a little help, i have an maximus hero VII and i dont get any type of sound from it all clear even in bios and says everything working properly any help?
Will all these features be present on the 100 series board coming with Skylake? Or should I upgrade now to a z97 with Haswell refresh or Broadwell I have a M5A99 with FX-6300 (@4.7 GHz)
Oc'd my 5820k to 4.6ghz, but it blue screened during benchmarking on Real Bench's video encoding. I'm a noob. Can I downclock what the 5 Way Optimization chose for the CPU or do I have to go into the BIOS and do it all manually?
is this software is motherboard specific ? do I need to download it from the motherboard page or can I download the latest version I can find for Z97 M"B ?
Hey, I have the z97-ar and the suit 3 does not install fully. I have the Pentium k prossesor and a asus r9 280x. I can't se the tpu of the gpu for an example.
How do i even get 4-way optimization to work like this with my Maximus VI Hero? It's pretty lame in comparison to this or even the way the 4-Way was supposed to work.
my hp envy m6 over heats when i run games when i enable the IGPU + GPU and have the cpu (a10-4600 quad core) frequency to its' default at 2.3 GHz. So i have to underclock it to minimum at 1.3 GHz.. help
I need a little help. I have an ASUS Z97-A USB 3.1 and every time I try to install AI Suite. All my USB ports stop working. This prevents me from using my keyboard and mouse. All my USB ports on my mobo are 3.0 except two which are USB 3.1. Then when I uninstall AI Suite, all my USB ports go back to normal and start working again.
So, I want to try this with my i7-4790K cpu in an ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO motherboard but the 5-Way Optimization is grayed out and I cannot click on it. Is there any way to enable 5-way optimization? I can go and modify each component but the auto overclock option is disabled.
Can you please explain why the ai 3 rog edition don't have the same advanced options for overclocking also I do all these steps on my 4790 k, Windows 7 64 bit, asus maximus vii formula, corsair vengeance pro 16 gig 2400 mhz and after all the steps are done when I check rog cpuz the core speed still siting at referenced 4 ghz I tried it many times what I'm I missing?
Mr. Shrekt are you connecting the H100i fans straight into the motherboard or do you have the y splitter and connected to the corsair pump head? I am using the asus z97 a with the corsair h100i but I connected it like corsair showed in the manual with the y connecters on the fans & straight into the pump head not the asus z97a. When I OCd I used the asus 5 way optimization & feel like the temps are a bit high & wondering if asus software is not adjusting the fan speeds of the h100i since its not directly plugged into the mobo,,,if anyone can help I would appreciate it as this is my first water cooling rig & first z97 board with a 4690k cpu.
I have 2 asus graphics card crossfired. Using this 5 way optimization, on the report the second card isnt overclocked and remains the same 640mhz low profile for all the levels. How do you use this 5way optimization with crossfired asus ati graphics cards? It seems the program only works the first card.
hi, having i5 4690k , asus z97 deluxe i run the 5 way optimisation successfully but the big issue is when it reaches 4.8 about 30%⬆i have blue screen and after pc restart , the hardware continue testing til the ebd normally. do u have any idea please ? thanx
asus z170-E , Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000mhz memory , i5 6600k 3.5ghz running now at 4.7ghz stable with a cap on cpu volts 1.3v memory at 2993Mhz , I have 4 chassis fans and a corsair h55 liquid cooler and artic silver paste , corsiar 750w GPU the 5 way optimizer made it easy. Playing a game like WOW its a very nice 40-45C temp. GPU ASUS geforce 1060 Very happy with it.
I ended buying the gtx 970 and amd 8350 and so far am happy with them, I recently bought a monitor and the size 24' is the right for me but at 1080p I don't like the look its matte display and letter look sort of blurry for me, honestly I hate right now anything you would recommend? I have a old lcd matte display but not as awful is that new 24' one, stuff on new one look like blurry like paintings of things
Is it important that all the fans are connected to the motherboard while doing the 5-Way Optimization? I'm wondering because I have connected 3 of my fans to my fan controller in my case. They are not registred on my motherboard.
Hey, great video. I just built a new PC. Asus ROG Maximus VII ranger on an intel i7 4790... I installed the ai suite III and everything seems to be working, but my 5 way optimization doesn't show all the details, especially inside the TPU part of it. I can't select a target cpu temp, or a frequency... I have 3 options only and they are all 4600mhz. Can you tell me more about it ? Why don't I have all these options such as cpu temp threshold, cpu freq, per core, etc ? I'm running the last version of ai suite III (.079) that I found on the asus ROG support page. Thanks a lot
Because you own a NON K cpu, its locked, you can't overclock it. You don't need those settings. The i7 4790k is unlocked and can be overclocked. About the target temp, idk why it isn't displaying, but must be because of the same reason.
I don't know why but JJ always makes me feel like he is just overselling something, but at this point I honestly refuse to buy a board that isn't made by Asus. The AI suite II is actually really freaking amazing.
I really really want... however I'm having a hard time convincing myself that its worth $150 for these features when I can spend $80 - $100 and just do everything manually.. I dunno.. maybe when they start showing up on ebay for $120 used.. or goes on sale.
Even cheaper boards, like my ASRock Z77 Pro4 already have auto features in the UEFI. This is just a much more feature rich and expansion solution; impressive. But I have no doubt that if you go into your UEFI, you can do the same stuff overall. I set my CPU to 4.4ghz turbo overclock and put all the options on Auto. I've had zero problems.
***** well no, what I mean is I really want is that program... I'd love to be able to OC or down clock for specific programs, so for example if I were to play a single threaded game say minecraft I could OC one core at 5GHz because thats all I'd need then if I wanted to play crysis or something it could adjust itself to 4.5GHz on all cores, then at idle/web browsing 3 cores could sit at a low 1GHz while one core at 2-3GHz handles most the work, thats what I would like... so really if they offered that 5 way program to their lower end ($99 isk) z97 boards, I would probably have bought an ASUS board by now.
vgamesx1 You know Turbo already does that though? The Intel bump up their turbo speed when they need to and then downclock when they don't need it. You basically feel hard for the marketing speak and the coolness of the program but you literally already have ALL these features.
***** not quite the same.. also turbo only kicks in at a certain point, so for emulators for example it won't work because its not using enough CPU power and games will still be laggy thus makes it a somewhat becomes a pointless feature....
vgamesx1 You're going into a niche thing when talking about emulators so there's definitely that situation. But for everyone else this over kill. You also made it sound like these features aren't available in any other platform & software suite. Again, this is just more marketing to get you to buy ASUS. Which is totally damn cool but not necessary in 90% of cases.
So i just installed my motherboard and cpu. I have the asus z97-A and now i want to overclock with asus 5 way optimization. But when i try to start it, it tells me to get the mei drivers before running asus 5 way optimization. I have no idea what mei drivers are. I googled it and downloaded some mei drivers but they didnt want to install. It told me that i didnt meet the requirments. I tried to start asus 5 way optimization anyway and overclock with it but when it was on TPU it just shut down my computer and skiped that part all together. So i was just wondering if you anyone of you guys know anything about Mei drivers and asus 5 way optimization. And now i just blue screen as soon as the overclock reaches 3.5 which was the default for my damn cpu. so now my cpu is downclocked :(
one thing you could try is putting in the drivers disk that came with your motherboard and click the button that says "asus instALL" i believe. that should give you any drivers you forgot to install at first
Love ASUS' boards. Just wish they'd update the Z87 line so we can actually use Wi-Fi GO! again -.- They updated the mobile app but didn't update the PC app for Z87 so made the app a potato.
Could we not just have the old app back available for Z87 users...? My mobile app is now a potato because you've updated it assuming that everyone is on Z97. (sorry, didn't realise this was an ASUS channel)
Hmm it seems I can still use the old "WiFi" go app fine without NFC express. Thankfully, I don't use NFC so it's okay, but seriously ASUS, this is not a way to get people to buy your hardware again if you bum them out after a year on software. I was a near day one Z87 buyer, so I at least had a year of functional use, but those that bought later in the cycle have really been done in.
Yeah as I said, I am now, but there's no real reason I can't use the version above. I've used it for a long time and it's buggered anyone that's got the NFC express add on for their Z87 board.
Why is it that Intel CPUs seem to run so hot, compared to my AMD? I am not sure how Vishera AMD does or what the idle temps on Intel are but my T_limit is 62 C on a phenom 2 X6. I run it at 4 GHz with a closed loop water cooler with 45 C at top loads, AND with 1.44(ish) Volts. It uses more power but runs cooler, so it seems. Great CPU you by the way if you can get one.
well intel is a few steps ahead in manufacturing process.. their transistors are way smaller and more packed in a small area which presents new problems... also of course the stupid tim issue they have since ivy bridge... hopefully will be fixed with haswell refresh and newer ones
mazinais31 Intel CPUs are also MADE to run at higher temps, and have a better performance in overclocking, if you would compare an I5 running at for example 4 ghz, it would beat an 8350 running at 4.5 for example, and the i5 most likely will be cooler as well.
***** When will we see this type of technology tested without a cherry picked chip? Also, why do you advertise this on your ROG series boards when you don't provide the technology for them?
i am unhappy with asus, even at stock it seems to overvolt my 4790k, i own the z97-A i had switched from asus years ago to msi because i had nothing but problems, so i gave asus another try and once again i was let down.
I wish that JJ wouldn't make it sound like AI suite is going to work like this, all Asus software is garbage. I have a ROG z87 and AI suite hangs boot all the time, the cpu temp is just strait up wrong making fan tuning almost worthless. O, and these are common problems reported by users of all RoG z87 boards. My RoG board before that aisuite would never even load, lol. Also common problem for that board. The cpu temp on AI suite is literally over 10c off.
JJ rocks; Logan please bring us more industry experts like him!

After I clicked the 5 way optimization and started it my pc beeps 3 times is this normal?

is it normal, when you OC with this tool, that the settings in the bios does not change?
4.8 ghz on an air coolerXD 212 Evo is great for the money, I'm running 4.8 ghz and staying at 25 idle and 50-65 under 100% load.
still got that system ?
how to go back to original clock ?

Ok thanks for the help. And yeah the h100i uses SATA power connector for the pump :)
***** Some CLC's like the new NZXT X41 and X61 have a variable pump, unlike the Corsair's constant pump. So does this also keep that in mind?
asus z170-E , Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000mhz memory , i5 6600k 3.5ghz running now at 4.7ghz stable with a cap on cpu volts 1.3v memory at 2993Mhz , I have 4 chassis fans and a corsair h55 liquid cooler and artic silver paste , corsiar 750w GPU the 5 way optimizer made it easy. Playing a game like WOW its a very nice 40-45C temp. GPU ASUS geforce 1060 Very happy with it.
Where can i download it? :)
Do all of their z97 boards have these programs and options?
***** does the z97m-plus come equipped with this feature?
I ended buying the gtx 970 and amd 8350 and so far am happy with them, I recently bought a monitor and the size 24' is the right for me but at 1080p I don't like the look its matte display and letter look sort of blurry for me, honestly I hate right now anything you would recommend?
I have a old lcd matte display but not as awful is that new 24' one, stuff on new one look like blurry like paintings of things
Is it for the maximus vii hero to ?
Is it important that all the fans are connected to the motherboard while doing the 5-Way Optimization? I'm wondering because I have connected 3 of my fans to my fan controller in my case. They are not registred on my motherboard.
Same exact thing here, any1? Lol
AISuite 3 refuses to install for me... halp!?
Hey JayJay! Yo mah swag boiii!
hi after overclocking how i get it back to normal ?
you need all fans with 4 pin connectors ! you cant do it with molex connector, 3 pin connectors can't see the software eather
Damn! I feel sorry for you...I just bought the i7-4790K 4.0 to 4.4
Hmm mine is differant for the CPU level, i just have 3 options for mhz speed, did they change it and take away all these options?
TheFewzz Yeah, mine is the same. 4.4 4.6 or 4.8. Do you have the Vii Hero?
Randy Moss Yes i do actually
I don't know why but JJ always makes me feel like he is just overselling something, but at this point I honestly refuse to buy a board that isn't made by Asus. The AI suite II is actually really freaking amazing.
Does h97m-e can work as z97
Which is totally damn cool but not necessary in 90% of cases.
does this kind of overclock avoid your CPU warranty?
Yeah it really tries to avoid your CPU warranty, It run from it.
Nopiw Yeah I get it...
Rog Hero VII Z97 has 5 Way Optimization also?
yes all z97 asus boards as said on the tech of tomorrow channel
And now i just blue screen as soon as the overclock reaches 3.5 which was the default for my damn cpu. so now my cpu is downclocked :(
one thing you could try is putting in the drivers disk that came with your motherboard and click the button that says "asus instALL" i believe. that should give you any drivers you forgot to install at first
Kk
I am just joing us! how did he know..
Such an awesome thing but the only mistake they made was not having this on every motherboard that can be overclocked...especially ROG.
+Obababoy So.. You are telling me that this doesnt work with the maximus viii hero? Damn!
4.5 GHz on a i5 4670k... thank you :)
Love ASUS' boards. Just wish they'd update the Z87 line so we can actually use Wi-Fi GO! again -.- They updated the mobile app but didn't update the PC app for Z87 so made the app a potato.
ASUS updated their app for Z97 boards with new AI suite, doesn't work with the old versions of AI suite on Z87.
Nope, not if you try the WiFi GO and NFC express version. Just check the Android page:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.wifi.go.nfc
Yeah as I said, I am now, but there's no real reason I can't use the version above. I've used it for a long time and it's buggered anyone that's got the NFC express add on for their Z87 board.
What Cpu Cooler is that?
Antec KUHLER H2O 1250
The camera does not like JJ's shirt...
Nice videos!!!
right
I love JJ
Overclocked my 4790K to 5,2 mhz with an coolermaster V8 gts and started gta V up. didnt even go over 50 degrees C but... i live in norway:D
5.2 mhz, bro you're so lucky. Fellow nordmann here too :D
I think it is simply the Crappy IHS and Tim
vishera will be hotter... but i can keep my FX-6350 under 60c on stress tests easy @ 4.5ghz and similar voltage on air (cnps12x)
Yes but the T_junction is lower than Intels, am I wrong?
well intel is a few steps ahead in manufacturing process.. their transistors are way smaller and more packed in a small area which presents new problems... also of course the stupid tim issue they have since ivy bridge... hopefully will be fixed with haswell refresh and newer ones
mazinais31 Intel CPUs are also MADE to run at higher temps, and have a better performance in overclocking, if you would compare an I5 running at for example 4 ghz, it would beat an 8350 running at 4.5 for example, and the i5 most likely will be cooler as well.
Well, next mobo will definitely be Asus X99 WS..
***** When will we see this type of technology tested without a cherry picked chip? Also, why do you advertise this on your ROG series boards when you don't provide the technology for them?
Hey ! New to building computers amd it sounds like JJ is speaking a other language. Dude goes off! Ha
i am unhappy with asus, even at stock it seems to overvolt my 4790k, i own the z97-A i had switched from asus years ago to msi because i had nothing but problems, so i gave asus another try and once again i was let down.
check this out, dawg. first of all you throwin' too many big words at me, and because i dont understand them, im gunna take 'em as disrespect
