    I think that every OD model should have a clean volume that act as a blend. Their multi effects have them.

    You didn’t need the tri mixer, there’s actually a clean blend within the od200 already if you run parallel mode and select the clean boost setting.

    I won't say that I've tried every bass distortion/overdrive pedal out there but I have a few of them.
    This unit may do the job with a guitar, but on bass it sounds "meh" to me.
    In my GT1000 core I run a clean unprocessed signal and then two more parallel signals : one with a compressor and another with the drive, a LFP to cut the highs and the amp simulator.
    A totally different result than just adding a blend knob

    Great demo!🤟🏻 Sounds VERY VERSATILE pedal.👍🏻

    I liked the tones from the passive basses better with this pedal. The active basses tended to have harsh and brittle upper mids to my ears.

    I just got a Helix delivered this week and my biggest issue so far is not being able to get the right distortion/overdrive/fuzz. Currently have my pedal board running through FX loop to compensate.

    Some of those sounded pretty good. I'll have to give those drives another chance in my GT 1000 Core (with the advantage of getting to mix in the lows without an external mixer)

    Lots of haters in the comments for this one. I think it's a pretty badass dirt modeler. And the demo technique was a bit over done but the result was some really cool sounding riffs! This video also made me realize we need the Kill'Em All full album cover now....and maybe even a St. Anger one 🤘

    • @TheBassChannel
      @TheBassChannel  2 роки тому +3

      The thing I find interesting and funny is that we ran this pedal the same way we ran the Iron Horse, and there wasn’t nearly as much criticism on the clean blend as there is here 🤷🏻‍♂️
      I would be so down for a full St. Anger cover!

      @@TheBassChannel the drum loop you guys are using when doing the St Anger riffs sounds better than the record 🤣

      It’s not actually modelling the analog models like the sd1 ts9 etc, those are actually analog. It’s just the pedals that are actually digital that are digital in the od200 like the power stack.
      (The signal does always pass through its ad/da converter though).

    Why don’t use the boost in parallel with tone rolled off?! You get the same result

    Could you make a cover on ‘Israel’s son’, by Silverchair?

    I wanted to listen to an OD pedal not a load of filtered cack what's the point of checking when I still won't know what it sounds like. Raw sound comprenday!

      Dude, be the silence you wish to see in the world. Some reviewers talk, some don’t. If it bugs you so much, find another one. Some of us who listen to the audio of these exclusively appreciate the descriptions.

    Folks, two things: 1) if you upgrade the firmware you get 128 presets. Though cycling backwards requires that alternative switch assignment to make the on/off switch a back function, or an external switch. Not ideal with an OD pedal. With my EQ-200 I sacrifice the on/off switch without problems. 2) The AD/DA conversion is still happening so this carries with it all the negative effects (real or perceived, up to you) of digital processing. The Boss hybrid analog/digital circuit design reads like marketing bull to this engineer and there is no circuit diagram provided in the manual, so assume the worst.

    • @kanesmith4961
      @kanesmith4961 2 роки тому +2

      Btw. a long switch press can be configured to change between the alternative switch assignments. Why not make the long press a bypass instead and make the 128 presets a breeze to work with? Oh Boss...

      @@kanesmith4961 My band has always used boss gear for pur digital stuff, my guitarist recently switched to a Boss MS3 switcher to make his rig more compact and the AD/DA conversion is barely noticeable, our studio engineer couldn't even tell there was any going on

    • @kanesmith4961
      @kanesmith4961 2 роки тому +1

      @@ileutur6863 Like I said, perceived or real. I use digital pedals including the Boss EQ 200 and have no issues with going digital. Others are free to disagree. None of this changes the fact that we have no idea what's happening inside this pedal, and the analog/digital hybrid language on their website is smoke & mirrors. I don't like that sort of thing, I like data and facts presented transparently. We are smart enough to make a decision on our own.

    I like the work you guys put into the video. But the thing sounds pretty average - on bass at least. A clean blend wouldn't have saved it. It's tuned for guitar.

    So, a product demo that's not going to be real world applicable to most people and not representative of what this thing sounds like? Just stick with the classic Boss bass ODB-3 that can be had for 1/5 the price AND has an actual blend knob.
