  • I've owned my 2007 VW Passat for over 7 years now. This review tells how my ownership has gone and the best points of the car as well as a few problem areas to look out for when you're buying a 6th generation Volkswagen Passat
    Update 2021 - in the end I owned this Passat for 10 years and sold it with 200,000 miles on the clock. It's still going well and I now own a 2008 Passat CR TDI

    I remrember my dad had one of theese. So mamy good times in that car, learned how to drive in it aswell. Had a 2l TDI 140bhp with lowered suspention. You forgot to mention the fact that in the rear seat. The seat portion on wich you sit can be folded in such a way that allows the boot to be compleaty leveled when folding down the back support. Not at an incline as shown in the video. There should be a handle or piece of string to grab hold of underneat the seat, between the seat and the floor of the car, that allows you to do it. Gives you some extra space. And makes moving big stuff from places like ikea alot easier since you dont have to worry about fragile stuff breaking in half

    I recently bought a very clean rust-free 59 plate one lady owner 2.0 tdi 170 bhp estate with 115k miles. I paid an independent dealer £3300 plus £600 for new cambelt/water pump. I avoid short journeys as much as possible and I leave it in gear rather than use the parking brake when parked. These cars are large extremely comfy long distance load carriers.

    This car has been a nightmare it was a 2005 model.. never again I said then 10 years later I bought the 2011 version Passat 2.0 Tdi much smoother much quicker and quieter in the cabin and long journeys.. best car I owned..
    The faults on the 2005 2.0 Tdi
    Was all 4 fuel injectors because faulty
    Fuel pump
    control unit switch basically he dash display was flickering
    Total cost roughly £3900
    Numerous bits to VW during 2008-2010

    • @ajvw
      @ajvw  3 роки тому +2

      The fuel injectors were replaced under a recall in the UK, all mine were replaced at 125,000 miles by VW for free so they definitely knew there was a problem with them. Sorry to hear you'd had to pay for replacements

    Because those aren’t cup holders in the dash. They’re just extra space for like coins or matches or bullets! The driver and passenger cup holders are in the center console. There’s no need really for four cup holders upfront and it’s pretty snobby and pointless to design a cup holder that doesn’t hold cups while a car is in motion doing what it’s supposed to be doing and then to line cup holders with felt or whatever that liner material is is just doing way too much! Know what I’m saying?!

    • @ajvw

      The button can fail although that's a cheap fix. On early cars pre 2008 the rear caliper motors can corrode and fail so worth checking if they've been replaced. Design was changed in 2008 which resolved the issue

      Thank you so much for the reply you good sir! The one I'm buying is 2010 so hopefully thats all sorted! I cannot wait to drive it away tomorrow. Would you recommend using 'seafoam' in the oil, fuel tank and carb?

    • @Danilopg1
      @Danilopg1 4 роки тому

      I got the problem with handbrake motors, it's a really common problem, but it cost me 50 euros to replace, and i can't imagine it will happen again in another 6-7 years at least. On the other hand, I am very satisfied with this car, so my recommendation is to buy it, if you have a nice one there.
