I still have a 2010 B6 2.0TDI that i have owned since new. It now has 168,000 Miles or 268,800 Km, and still drives like new. The turbo actuator failed at 70,000 miles, and the starter motor at 165,000. Other than that, its just been normal wear and tear items. It also suffers from rust on the front wings, which is common on this model. I've been very happy with its reliability over the years, and are now thinking about upgrading, as the air-con compressor has failed and the cambelt needs doing again.

    Great video !
I have a 2006 Passat 1.9 TDI 105 with 222.000km on the clock, I was unsure about the performance but it has loads of torque and is very pleasant to drive ! It is my first VW and I have to say the build quality is very good, and it still looks very cool even with its age !
I haven't had any problem so far, the only complains I'd have would be the parts and insurance that are not cheap, and the CD player that is not working fine, but apart from that, I am very happy with this car !

We have a simple Passat B6 Wagon and we are from Austria. My mum will pass the car down to me. She bought a new Volvo not long ago. I drive it daily to college.
-I like the fob design, simple and easy to use.
-Ours almost got 200.000km and still runs fine, regular oil checks are done.
-Also had a B5 Wagon before, the B5 was more fun to drive while the B6 is kind of a daily driver or 2nd car. It brings you from A to B and uses acceptable amount of fuel. Up to 1100km per tank. Needless to say. I want to drive the car till it breaks down, I am considering soundproofing it and adding some optional gadgets it doesn't have but are avaible at factory.

I have a 07 pasast with 170,000 km. A very solid vehicle. Just a wear and tear due to age (i.e. battery replacement, timing belt change, cv boots, etc). However, I had encountered one problem with this vehicle which was electronic brake failure that costed me ~$200 to fix and ~$120 for towing.

I also had this problem luckily my brakes didn’t lock up so i could just drive to the mechanic. I heard this is a common problem with the B6

    Common issue
    1. EPB - electronic parking brake - the casing cracks on the motor, the motor seizing your brakes on/off
(when you try to fix it - either new motor or new calipe r- the parking brake ECU can be damaged very easily! and thats not cheap!)
    2. Fuel pump cam follower wears and damages the pump
    3. Oil pump failure
    4. Door locks, when unlocking the door and the outter handle is pulled the bowden cable moves in the inner handle, resulting in the door being unable to open unless you give it a twack (if you're alreadying hitting your door... its gonna deadlock itself - fix it now whilst you can get the door open!!)
...and i'm sure theres loads im forgetting
    apart from that -
oh and its massive - most people will bump a corner trying to park so expect scratches on every corner
    comfy and great mpg

Owned my B6 saloon 2.0tdi 140ps DSG for 5 years now. It's the most comfortable and reliable car I've ever owned. Will be replacing it with a B7 in same gauze shortly. The B6 2.0tdi are fantastic and can be picked up for peanuts now in UK. So relaxed on long journeys, a real mile muncher. Worth the buy.

I recently got hold of a very clean B6 estate 2.0 tdi 170 ps. I'm very tall and this is the first car I've bought in which I can stretch my legs yet still leave large amounts of room for the passenger behind me. 80 mph/130 kmh = 2100 revs - it's a continental cruiser.

Carsforlife -India Hi, ive still got my passat. I notice my last post on here was 2 years ago. Ive not had a single issue with it in that time. It gets a fairly easy life though.
The regular 3.6. Well its the same engine, which is a real beauty. As a cruiser, it would be just fine i think, though its quite thirsty.
If you like driving fast on twisty roads, it will struggle. Mine is not the best, even with uprated and lowered suspension and 4 wheel drive. Its ok, but if you really push it, it develops understeer and roll.
So, it depends what you use it for. Cruising about, with the odd burst of speed, no probs.

Frank Miller Sun roof can collect dirt and debris making the draining system to get blocked. If you have a leaking sun roof the floor will get wet. I took mine to the VW dealership for a sun roof cleaning and the problem was gone. I couldn’t find any video on how to do it yourself, thus I ended up paying $60 for the fix.

    • @GamingAplication
      @GamingAplication 4 роки тому +1

@@oseboodigie8406 The gasoline engines are generally more reliable than the TDI engines. 130k miles is not that bad, but definitely check for rust and be ready to change a few bits and pieces (like with every car that has driven that much or more). 2007 is pretty good but generally the newer car you get, the better the experience usually is. The 2.0 FSi is pretty good, it has good fuel consumption for a older gasoline car (especially 'extra urban), the acceleration is quite decent also. But the other stuff is pretty much same as I wrote above this comment 4 months ago.

btw I have a 2010 2.0T 2 wheel drive standard and this is performant enough - got it used, invested couple of thousands after purchase (turbo valve around 100$, waterpump around 500$ + labour). It drives well but electrical makes me unsure of it, often getting warnings on and off about lamp issues, aribag issues. I had to unplug the stereo because it is under the seat and it was rusted. Started to have a ground problem drainig the battery. I would recommand buying it but only if you can afford to have it fixed or if you have a garage, tools and are a bit savvy about cars. So I will try to salvage that radio amp that goes under the seat too. Hope it helps you decide wether to guy or not a used one.

Hi, just got a 07 Passat tdi 140 hp dsg. I don t really like the way that the engine works with the transmission. Is definitely a highway car. Not a city car. I hate it on bad traffic and it gets around 10l/100km witch I find it a lot on a Diesel engine. Everybody talk about the PD engines that are not good. They say that the CR are much better but you will find it only on the 09 up models. What is your opinion on the PD engine? In my opinion the Passat is NOT a city car. Just long rides/highways !!!

    • @EEPRODUCTIONSKLB
      @EEPRODUCTIONSKLB  6 років тому

With PD engine you refer to the older diesel engines ? I see some PD engines being used in the Golf Mk3 and Polo Mk3 with both TDI and SDI configuration. I think apart from the oil usage, these engines are built proof. The non turbo SDI can be a bit slow, but the TDI needs some maintenance on the turbo from time to time. Checking the oil level is vital for these (TDI) engines. Also replacing old oil every service will do the engine some good in terms of longevity.

Now i have a 2.0tdi cr 140hp with 140000km..the main differences for me reside in the cabin noise..the CR is more refine and with better technology. If you have the chance go for any one of them..you will have less power with the 1.9 but its enough for 130km/h trips..both engines do 5 to 5.5 L/100km.

Bad EGR due to cheap motor stuck in place, suspension front and rear bushes failing after 4 years, blows it's own inlet pipes off due to poorly designed hose clamps, leaks oil like a sieve, window regulators failed door locks disintegrated when replacing window regulators, engine bonnet release broken, position of transmission prevents removal of LHS lower wishbone without removing entire subframe, lights are no better than fireflies in jam jars, wing mirror glass detached spontaneously, engine bay designed to defeat any tool you put near it making it horrendous to work on, rear ABS sensors lunch themselves rapidly, rear brake assemby/hubs stupid design to prevent simple replacement without knowing a none VW sanctioned trick, strut top mount captive nuts break off requiring drilling or angle grinder to remove. Oh and erm that dieselgate stuff too. Apart from those things, yeah about as reliable as your average chocolate teapot!

I've found that the Passat B6 promises so much more than it delivers.
    I have a 2006 3.2 DSG 4Motion with 125,000KM, and my Dad has a 2008 3.2 DSG 4Motion with 70,000KMs
Probably the lowest quality cabin I have ever seen in the 2006, the 2008 is better but still not great (even my 1989 1.3 poverty spec Mazda Familia has far less rattles and movement of the dashboard when pushed on)
The 3.2 VR6 with the 6 speed DSG and 4Motion is a good driveline, when its working properly (which is never in my case)
The servicing costs and reliability have been appalling (I've owned mine from 60,000KM to current 125,125KM and it has cost me $9,000 NZD to get it that far in unplanned repairs, and that is with a warranty!)
But get the car on the motorway, or get it on a twisty road and I can't help but smile as the VR6 roars, the DSG pops and the AWD system endlessly grips the road. :-)
