I wasn't aware there were multiple endings. I would guess it's to do with getting the skull knight cutscene down at the bottom of the dark zone in Machinarium. Then you should get a cutscene with skull knight in it when you interact with the anomaly after the Belisarius fight. In the cutscene, Skull knight puts down a black beam in that white space. You want to turn around away from the anomaly in white space and interact with the black beam instead.
You can get this sword by farming the great sword knights that spawn in the hub area. To the left of the Handler. But only at a certain point in the game will the great sword knights replace the regular knights in that area. I'm not sure what triggers that exactly. I think it's caused by killing any 3 bosses in the game will set your game to hard mode. And then the knights in that area should be great sword knights. But you have to kill them multiple times. It's not a guaranteed drop, so you gotta farm them.
