If you're a souls-like fan, you owe it to yourself to check this out. It had a few frustrations at launch but the multiple updates have made it top notch. Tons of variation and great gameplay
I think they should add a way to upgrade the lamp that allows you to plant more seeds. And when you plant it, if you exceed the number you can choose which to destroy. I think 2 or 3 is a perfect amount
My bro and I picked this up about a month ago, and play together on and off for about half of the game. It's a good game, frustrating at times but not unbearable. It's also beautiful and I enjoy the camera mode. I always laugh at how there are so many different environments in the game even though the whole game pretty make takes place within the same 5 mile radius.
This game is my Favorite Souls-like . Only one I've played several play throughs with different builds and will play more as time goes buy . Love the developers and hope to see a Second Part or DLC
I want an option to have enemies in Axiom not appear in umbral once you transition. Nothing worse than dying to a squad of enemies, just to have them, plus an infinitely spawning squad of enemies now after you...while on a timer, until the red reaper shows up to 1 shot you.
As much as I know I sound like a soulsy nerd saying this, I really liked that. I loved the idea that you might not die truly the first time... but you are on a timer now, and shit just got a lot harder. Kind of like a souls gulag that sometimes you just have to go into, even if you know it means death.
I downloaded this game at random with no knowledge of what it was and immediately fell inlove with it. Its insane seeing these videos and comments talking about how buggy it was, I'm glad i came across it after it was fixed because the game is so freaking fun. Im playing Sekiro and Elden Ring next!
@@alserretteidk. Combat wise I've been enjoying the souls likes more than elden ring. The camera and combat is just so annoying on bosses like maliketh when he's jumping around the arena. As someone who enjoyed the game when it released both solo and co-op. I loved it and the issues/bugs were frustrating but didn’t hurt the experience much. Recently came back to play NG+ and co-op with a friend new to the game and it’s in so much better shape than it was on release. Very stable. Tons of quality of life improvements and additions. Very stable with very few frame drops both solo and co-op. If it came out in this shape people would have loved this game. I am looking forward to a full on loot and enemy randomizer on CONSOLE! First time I think a console souls have had these features. Pre-upgraded loot, no vestige decay, original ad density are the modifiers on my NG+ playthrough and it’s great. Will be doing double randomizer next. Too few people have given this game a receive after the improvements.

I love this game honestly. I Love the seemless co op. I also love how you can change your armor colors. If these developers and fromsoft got together and made a game I can’t even imagine how good it would be.
I put over 100 hours into this one at launch. Loved it. Jumping back in for a replay now and I forgot how much I liked this game. Really looking forward to the announced sequel and I’m glad the devs are committed to improving this one. One of the best non FS soulslikes out there, still the best looking (at least as far as visual fidelity, art style preference may vary) and the Umbral mechanic really made for interesting exploration. Lots of great ideas and an extremely solid first outing for this studio. Looking forward to what they do with the sequel now that they have a solid foundation.
I loved this game but got busy and know to come back I was gonna have to re learn what I was doing. These updates kinda make me excited to get back into it.
Couldn't get into Fromsoft games and the only other souls-like games I enjoyed are Nioh and Wo Long, but those deviated a bit too much from the traditional souls formula. Lords of the Fallen is the first "traditional" souls game that hooked me completely. Something about the atmosphere and lore intrigued me and the gameplay itself is faster than Dark Souls, while still not being completely different like the games made by Koei. Overall an extremely underrated game which I personally hope will grow more in time.
9:28 something nice I noticed is that the game will drop you a higher level upgrade once in awhile to increase the levels of all the weapons you find so you essentially never have to upgrade manually if you so choose but upgrading will still rapidly increase efficiency
I really wanted to like this game. The art design and world building was enough to get me to pre-order it, which is something I never do. Totally worth a try. Never played the 2014 version so I avoided all those problems, but this is a little gem. Some bosses are very...very...VERY frustrating but there are some truly satisfyin combat mechanics, like the double weapon attack or the umbral concept.
Never felt the seedling system was an issue. And enemy density never bothered me. Loved the game. My only gripe was the momentum of attack. If you perform a combo you would move past your enemy and make a wierd turn-around attack.

While watching the video they were explaining how these mechanics worked and how they effected play and I was just thinking the whole time doesn’t this just sound like good game design.

As a huge fan of the soulsborne game, I really enjoyed this game. I'm playing on the Series X now to get all endings then might also get it on Steam since the PC port sounds better now
I played at launch on series x and had a blast with it even went as far as getting all the achievements. This and lies of p are some of my favorite souls like games
i remember playing the game when it first came out and less than 10 minutes into the game my character fell through the map and got stuck under the ground, i couldnt move or do anything and I tried closing and coming back and loaded in under the map again, i cant remember how but i found a way to die, it crashed my game and i loaded back in alive under the map again. I decided to make a new character and every single time i did my game crashed the second the first UNSKIPPABLE 10 minute or wtv cutscene finished. I let the cutscene play 8 times after restarting 8 times and kept crashing, so i put the game down and have yet to try it since. But after this vid I might give it another try here soon.
beat thr gsme in 3 days on release day was top 0.1% to finish even with all mobs, bugs and glitches nd I loved it. the exploration nd world design was great
I played this a year after it came out so I can't comment on how bad it was initially. It's not dark souls 2 bad. It's not dark souls 3 good. Thank fuck they're making a sequel because there's always baby teeth for a first game. It deserves a sequel and if they iron out some of the gimmick boss fights they'll be good
I'm one of the many players who bought the game day 1 and got put off because of the performance and balancing issues, I recently went back and try the game and man, it's incredible to play now. i'm glad the devs fixed all of the problems and made the game great. it's probably my fav souls like game now.
played it at launch and i dint have any issues. For liking a challange even if bullsh-t, im sure as damn gonna get trough and get to the next area. So happy that it dint get left in the dust tho and it changed for the people of well not of same insanity level as myself.
I was farming the mobs/bosses with my build at fast pace once the build was up but it got real mundane real fast after realizing that this game has a % based damage under the wraps and same move-sets for a given weapon type, and that killed it for me.
Thanks for the video, i deleted Lotf after i got to the second boss, should have given it more time but, decided to come back to it later, definitely will give it a go again, glad to see the developers work harder to make it a better experience for the players, anyway keep up the good work my man.
yeah jumping in the game is a bit jank, really wish jump just had a dedicated hotkey like in Elden Ring, as opposed to having to run in order to jump (like in dark souls)
I'm one of those players who gave up on Lords of the Fallen after about 20 hours. It was just frustrating because of the absurd enemy density, but above all because of the miserable performance on the PS5, even in performance mode! I felt the potential everywhere, I WANTED to love it, but it just didn't work. But your video convinced me to give the game another chance. I'm really excited. By the way, very cool video! Greetings from Germany!
@@maxonaroll I've played the game for about three hours so far, defeated the first boss (I started a new game), and only had a few frame drops during the boss fight, but they were nowhere near as dramatic as before the patch! By the way, I'm playing in performance mode, the graphics mode still stutters (it‘s playable, but i need 60fps 😊)
The changes sound great. I wish it was chosable, if the attack animation stops at an edge. I kind of like the strategic placing of attacks depending how close an edge is, but I guess that's just me. I liked the faster pace this game has over my usual Eldne-Ring, Dark Souls characters
Ive been with this game since the second it went retail, as im sure some of you here have been as well. As of July 25th 2024 it is in the ultimate state of Lords of the Fallen. The game was always good, now its sick. If i could offer some insight, I have this on both PS5 and Series X. One series x the lock on is still infuriatingly inaccurate. PS5 has wonderful enemy lock friction. Preformance has plenty of overhead on Series X, but its still a bit droopy in Quality mode. But if your on the fence and you like gross, fucked up imagery and violent combat then LOTF got you.
I bought the collectors edition, and what made me decide that the launch trailer had “Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden” and sold me instantly lol. I think that marketing ploy executed perfectly 🤣🤣 When they introduced Ironman mode, I made a fresh character and the first mob enemy was the lady that shoots the radiant laser beam… I was like Steve from the office “please, no. God, no” 🤣🤣🤣
I'm currently playing this Lords of the fallen now and it's awesome and loving it but only issue I have is trying to kill the scarlet shadow (red reaper) he ridiculous OP and damn hard to kill especially when have constant annoying mobs of enemies aswell attacking you and didn't help at all they constant patches ways of defeating it are stupid also they didn't fix the lock-on it still terrible and sucks
My only 'critique' would be is that once you start an area, the colour palette doesn't change for the remainder of that area.. or there was no sense of wonder around the corner. Otherwise, I enjoyed the game.. played it from D1.
Got this on release, and i did really like it, though thete wete definitely some hiccups. I had to sell my PS5 because of financial issues earlier this year but i intend to get a new one by Christmas. Can't wait to jump back in.
I wish this game had more enemy variety. Feels like we fought the same enemies from the beginning to the end. I still loved many things about this game and really love the Umbral/Axiom concept
Everyone on UA-cam automatically gives Lies Of P and Wu Kong the unfromsoftware souls likes crowns. This is one of the video that points this out. I make sure to add this to everyone's comments all the time. Yes there are some things to get used to, like the gravity thing. But I kind of liked it. It made those areas even more dangerous. I think their spell system is something fromsoftware needs to upgrade to. Instead of clicking up, up, up, up, while dodging enemies fast as Radahn/Miquella looking for a spell, and down, down, down, down, trying to heal, find your blue flask, I think LOTF nailed the hold R2 system with all your spells easily seen on the bottom corner with the face buttons.
Tried this game at launch, and I could hardly get through the tutorial without losing interest. Decided to give it another chance the other day and now I’m just completely hooked. This game truly deserves a second chance from everyone, and it seems like a crime to not pay respect to its Aesthetics.
This games cool. A very unique system with the umbral world. Haven’t played much of it since black myth came out. I’ll go back to it at some point Liked using the spear for its range against the enemies
It’s too bad it still doesn’t always run very smoothly on consoles still… especially during multiplayer. Meaning on PS5 and I think it runs even worse on the Xbox. Not sure about PC as I haven’t upgraded in like 10+ years. I will say it is pretty cool that you can get loot from other players worlds and can get upgraded drops from their worlds if they have the upgraded loot modifier. At least I think that’s true. I was accompanying lamp bearers a lot recently and I’m pretty I had a bunch of random weapons that were upgraded after I checked my inventory.
Maybe if we haven't played Elden Ring or Dark Souls, we MIGHT have liked it "a bit". But regardless there are some stuff I couldn't digest. Like the umbral lamp thing and how much we have to use it. Also being able to sprint like Usein Bolt is also annoying. Gave this game more than one chance but not only did it not hook me, it frustrated me...
I played the game several times at launch, and I'm in the middle of another play through right now. My take, if you didn't like this game at launch, you won't like it now. Yes there are fewer enemies, and a lot of other little changes, but as far as the minute to minute gameplay, and combat loop goes, it's virtually the same game. You'll appreciate the updates if you already liked what the game had to offer, if not, it's just not for you, imo.
honestly, the game dont know if it want to be a hack and slash or a soul-like. I hope they decided on the genre more carefully for the next game. those two genre seem alike, but they are completly different, and do not go well with each other.
Is this supposed to be a negative or positive comment? I can’t really tell and as a person that loves the souls trilogy very much, this game was amazing and incredibly fresh and fun. There are of course differences, but the games never felt like a hack and slash, just a easier or more forgiving game
@@Rank17Legend honestly I dont like the game, so i might be biased. ut I dont feel like the game is committed to the soul likes genre. it take some systems from soul likes, but its not really a soul likes. its more akin to a hack and slash game, given how much enemies they throw at you. not to mention the enemies dont have a limited agro range, so they will chase you to the end of the earth, so the game dont want you to do the quick run pass enemies tactic either. I feel like the game take aspect from souls game, but didn’t commit to be a souls like, and it feel half ass.
Haven’t beaten the game quite yet. Started it a while back(before most of the updates) and I’m about to start playing it again. Is the Conjegator boss harder now?

Enjoyed playing it when it initially launched. You have inspired a second playthrough sir👌🏼
Just bought this beast dirtcheap and looking forward trying it out.
I've wanted to try it since the launch but never get the time to do so. Picking this up as soon as I finish Final Fantasy Rebirth and Astro Bot. 😭
I think I'll give this a try
Im so glad you can keep enemy density on if you want. It makes for a fun challenge.
The Snipers in the back of every second encounter sure are recognizable
beat thr gsme in 3 days on release day was top 0.1% to finish even with all mobs, bugs and glitches nd I loved it. the exploration nd world design was great
This game is now for sale on GOG for the lowest prices u'll ever see
I played this a year after it came out so I can't comment on how bad it was initially.
Already loved the game. Going to pick it up for ps5 on payday ❤
Bro is on sale ps5 rn
It's on gamepass too if you have that.
played it at launch and i dint have any issues.
Game is super fun. The umbral infinite spawns was rough af though
Truee
Thanks for the video, i deleted Lotf after i got to the second boss, should have given it more time but, decided to come back to it later, definitely will give it a go again, glad to see the developers work harder to make it a better experience for the players, anyway keep up the good work my man.
That loot upgrade sounds amazing
Turning out to be a good game, I've had no problems wit it, except for the keyboard controls for jumping.
yeah jumping in the game is a bit jank, really wish jump just had a dedicated hotkey like in Elden Ring, as opposed to having to run in order to jump (like in dark souls)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you enjoy your playthrough 🙏
Please let us know how does it run on the PS5 right now 🙏
@@maxonaroll I've played the game for about three hours so far, defeated the first boss (I started a new game), and only had a few frame drops during the boss fight, but they were nowhere near as dramatic as before the patch! By the way, I'm playing in performance mode, the graphics mode still stutters (it‘s playable, but i need 60fps 😊)
Played the 2014 LOTF, and liked it. Never tried this one though
pointless comment wtf😭
I beat the 1st game and i really like how the 2nd turned out, very different than what it was before 😂
This is by far one of the best games in its genre, I loved it, the aestethics and dark fantasy setting together with the umbral world, a 10/10 for me
I bought the collectors edition, and what made me decide that the launch trailer had “Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden” and sold me instantly lol.
I think that marketing ploy executed perfectly 🤣🤣
When they introduced Ironman mode, I made a fresh character and the first mob enemy was the lady that shoots the radiant laser beam… I was like Steve from the office “please, no. God, no” 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, Lucky. I'll have to check this one out.
This vide is essentially a paid advertisement. The game still runs like ass (especially on higher-end PCs). Wait for a deep discount.
Now I need this!
Been waiting for these updates to play again, the game was great, but had some flaws, seems like they fixes most of the issues.
i think this is one of the best imo
Agreed!
@2:08 how did you slide?
I need to replay this sober, I was hammered pretty much every time I played.
I’ve just finished the game it’s on game pass Brilliant game going start new game plus now. 👍
That’s was fast! What build? I’m currently on a strength. Big hammer and a Great sword.
I tried playing this game back then but my laptop couldn't handle it now that I have a high end pc I'll most likely come back to this game.
Man..imagine...now go with me on this...imagine if games were done BEFORE they came out...
I had a unlimited stamina bug that let me spam dodge and attack forever and i just beat the game in one sitting without dying
I want to see this lol
The challenge runs will be crazy
Everyone on UA-cam automatically gives Lies Of P and Wu Kong the unfromsoftware souls likes crowns. This is one of the video that points this out. I make sure to add this to everyone's comments all the time. Yes there are some things to get used to, like the gravity thing. But I kind of liked it. It made those areas even more dangerous. I think their spell system is something fromsoftware needs to upgrade to. Instead of clicking up, up, up, up, while dodging enemies fast as Radahn/Miquella looking for a spell, and down, down, down, down, trying to heal, find your blue flask, I think LOTF nailed the hold R2 system with all your spells easily seen on the bottom corner with the face buttons.
well I will re-install and give it a try again nice to see all these updates, cause it was fun but exhausting.
Lot ranged enemies in the vanilla. I love the game though. I want to get back into this game but I’m preparing for Metaphor!
the updates were free? what game charges for updates
Almost all games nowadays charge for content updates, They call them DLCs so they can get away with it.
I’ll go back to it at some point
Liked using the spear for its range against the enemies
Personally as someone who has an unhealthy amount of hours, the game is still really fun
Will be there a DLC soon? i really enjoyed the game
Been saving this for my pro
4:21 if you r watching this in a dark room on your phone. Beware the fn flash.
Most underrated souls game to date
Haven’t beaten the game quite yet. Started it a while back(before most of the updates) and I’m about to start playing it again. Is the Conjegator boss harder now?
This is one of the best soulslikes out there. Everyone should play it.
This is supposed to be the Dark Souls 2 with unreal engine 5 version
How does the randomize loot work with quests items. Are they random as well or are they the same?
I might play it now it looks better for sure
