St Charles Square
I fucked up
I’m not the first to do it
Must forgoe now, your smile
Off the wall, beige
I’m fixtures and fittings
Call me out but call me
‘Cause there is something down here
And it’s living under the floorboards
Its grabbed me round the neck with its long and slender claws
Don’t leave me here baby don’t leave me completely
‘Cause I might not get back to myself at all
St Charles Square
This year’s migration
Basement flat with window bars
Pauli’s outside
Spare me the gloaters and the pain
I don’t want it anymore
‘Cause there is something down here
And it’s living under the floorboards
It’s up and down the clock of the townhall back in time
Oh I’ll ride with you baby, I’ll ride with you forever
But we might not get back to ourselves at all
No Tesco disco
The room is shrinking fast around me
It’s grabbed me by the ankle
And pulled me under
Loneliness I’ve been here before
‘Cause every generation has its gilded poseurs
Weird vibrations in the basement
I don’t like this scene
Pauli’s ghost come back to haunt me
Think I’m going to …

Those guitars. Graham Coxon's guitar tones are just wonderful. Blur is back. The guitars are heavenly. And Damon is the best Alternative Brit rock vocalist around.
the guitar sounds to Pixies + Tortuga San Sernin (the Dave Rowntree side project)
Also Robert Fripp's playing on Bowie's 'Scary monsters' album
Totally. He's also using Fripp's new standard tuning, which have this name because Robert Fripp came up wit It in the early 70s.
Yeah...he just needs to tune them before he starts though...🤣
@@sd8974 Pardon? Graham is using new standard tuning in this. Very easy to tell if you're guitarist.
Very Bowie scary monster era type vibe, Graham’s Robert Fripp guitar sound only makes it more so, love it.
Fripp-Santiago
Yes it sounds a lot like It's No Game, love it!!
very far away from both of them
Sounds very Bowie’Lodger’ period too
Great minds think alike! Good to see risk in getting this out there ❤
this is like the blurriest blur song blur has ever blurried
what a time to be a blur fan
Indeed
@thebeetle1656
Absobloominlutely 😎👍🏻
Roll on Saturday evening 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
we're so lucky to have them back
It’s always good tbh 🤷♀️
Remarkable band.
I was here. I saw history happen. Long live Blur.
Same
Oh shit I was too late
same!
Bugger 😢
Me too ...Still buzzing 😂😂
Graham Coxon is to Blur, what Johnny Marr was to The Smiths, James Williamson to The Stooges, and Mick Ronson to Bowie. A vital element of their sound and a modest genius.
What a fantastic track. Welcome back.
Even though I'm an atheist, I'll just say it. God bless Damon. For being such a steady provider of joy and beautiful music in my life since I was 13, going on 30 years of happiness now. Thank you, sir! Please don't stop. Ever.
Damon's been so consistent with his music for various projects over the years but blur, that's pretty special, so glad they pulled another album out of the bag! 💗
Amen!
@@prismonthethehorizon5793 oh yes, Blur will forever be extra special, because there is where I got introduced to him. But whatever he is up to, I've not yet heard him do anything I dislike. So as long as he keeps going, I'll be happy.
You are wonderful. You are welcome to call God..Klaatu One. Lchaim. I'll teach you some Aramaic. It's the slang of Hebrew. Schlama means peace. Malkuth means heaven. Hubba means love. Hubba to you and yours.
This sounds more like a pure Graham's song. But yeah, long live our favorite music workaholic
Very different kinda groove for Blur. The guitar sounds Bowie-esque and I’m digging it.
Was thinking exactly the same earlier!
Scary Monsters👍
@@bobwoolerOriGinal or lodger, but yep.
@@robridgeway1964 That one also, along with the Boys Keep Swinging/M.O.R. connection.
@@robridgeway1964nah, Lodger’s guitar is different from Fripp’s Scary Monsters contributions which is what this song sounds like.
This band is one of the absolute best things to ever happen to me, BLUR FOREVER!!!!
💗💗💗
Me too!
I have never been so hyped about a song that is about to be released.
Only two songs released to date, and I’m calling it: this album is bringing home some awards. ❤
I'm pretty sure the band doesn't give a flying fuck about award shows
@@kristofferlind753 true
@@martygeneEvery songs on the album is great. The Ballad and The Heights are my favorite.
@@Schlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff has it leaked?
never mind - yes it has, just found it - well i already bought the pre release cd and record so i reckon im ok to download it
Damon Albarn is the man. Very rarely I've seen an artist who's been in the business for 30 years being able to stay relevant throughout the decades like this guy. Blur, Gorillaz, solo...it doesn't matter. The dude always stayed on the grind. And it paid. Bless him.
Imagine waiting to see one of your fav bands come on stage, the crowd goes crazy as they enter, then they play this
That was what I experienced, it was epic
Saulter White
You are a lucky man !
This is definitely a grower. I wasn't sure about it at first, but now I'm convinced. The instrumental really elevated the song for me.
Same
Just like my willy
This sounds a lot like The Great Escape era, very similar to stereotypes and the charmless man in my opinion. I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH ALREADY!
Haha yes, except this time Graham is happy to be there.
@@wakudastudio yep the day that country house became number 1 he almost commit suicide
@@wakudastudioI saw them in Amsterdam last Tuesday and Graham looked like he was really enjoying himself. He even gave a small wave to the audience as he walked off the stage.
@@kellydalstok8900I saw them in Newcastle and Graham was really happy he was throwing his guitar in the air and Doug lots of tricks with it! I’m seeing them in Wembley next week which will be a very big performance
I thought the intro also sounded a little like Elastica at their peak. To me this is a blend of monsters-Bowie, Elastica, The Great Escape and 13. I like it.
Great new track loving the Bowie influence.
Scary monsters
Bit of fashion too in there i'm hearing
Temaso. Graham increible
1st listen - Oh God this is jarring
2nd listen - Oh this isn't so bad
3rd listen - This is fairly good
4th listen - this is a real grower!
5th listen - Classic blur, brilliant stuff I LOVE it. 🥰
I remember following these guys all over the uk in my mid to late teens !!! I was definitely in the superfan camp. Modern life will always remain one of the best British albums ever recorded. So many memories of drinking too much and taking E too often. Going to festivals all over Europe and living up every second of 90s pop culture. I was there when it started and blur will always have that special place inside me. No mobiles , no internet, no instant messaging and folk following every move u made. U enjoyed the experience and you didn’t need a picture to show the world. Didn’t matter what anyone else knew. I was living in those moments and if I was told I could go back and do it all again I would. Without thought. Glastonbury 98 seeing this lot on main stag full of E. after about 20 of us sat round campfire playing guitars and just soaking it all in. Was a moment in time and now it’s gone. But I’ll never forget it. Even if I can’t remember half of it.
I feel 13 again with these singles. Narcissist is hard to beat in my view, but this is another good one. Feels like forever waiting for the album to drop through the door!!!
Sounds like Damon has remembered how to write killer choruses for Blur again. This sounds like 90s era.
Definitely making to my The Real Best of Blur playlist.
Vintage blur! Graham coxon is such an underated guitarist ❤
And such a lovely bloke. I've met him several times and a nicer chap you couldn't wish to meet.
Popscene call backs in the video with the repetition 😚👌💯
Fantastic, classic blur sound. Reminds me of Magpie, a b-side from Parklife days. Albarn is as cool as ever, and coxon is just as amazing as ever, love it
Classic Bowie/Fripp sound
Another brilliant track. I can't wait for my vinyl copy of the album to arrive.
talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before
I feel so privileged to have been at this venue . Being a massive Bowie Fan this song sends tingles down my spine. Damon/BLUR you've done it ! ❤❤ Can't wait to see you again at Wembley ❤❤
I love that Blur still has that 90's sound - love the guitar!
Awesome! I even get emotional and happy to see that Blur continues to be extremely creative. Wow! Hugs from Brazil!
Essa música é ruim demais, cara, a voz do Damon tá péssima, refrão fraco, letra ruim... Sugiro ouvir os discos bons dele, ou até mesmo o Magic Whip, porque essas novas músicas estão fracas demais
@@rike94hahaha jura? Falow
Imo this is one of the best blur songs to date!
ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER FROM BLUR. YOU GUYS NAILED IT.
Best song on the album for me, I hope they make more of this stuff.
Graham is a monster guitarist. Easily in my top 5 British guitarist of all time. Up there with Kevin Shields, Johnny Marr, Will Sergeant and Jimmy Page.
Nothing British about Kevin Shields..Hes Irish.

Qué nivel de Blur, por favor... A pesar de los años, Damon y compañía no pierden ese toque genial que siempre han tenido.
So excited to be here. I work midnights and stayed up for it. I haven't watched the live performances of this yet. I always wait for the studio version first. That said, can't wait to watch the live performances after this. Blur is the best!!!!
Me and my sister are in it! Amazing ❤
Wow! Cool! 😮

Yeahhhh love the 90s fuzzy sound! Long live Blur! Give us it!
This guy is invincible, with immense talent!!! Perfect in every sense of his words of music 😁😁😁
Another great track! Strong Bowie vibes, anyone else hearing hints of Dry Cleaning in some of the vocal delivery?
This sounds like the work of a much younger band. Very impressive. Hungry.
I wish you guys preformed in the U.S
I would kill to see Blur live
I second this!
Come to uk !
@@mikeadams7904 if only it was that simple
No because I love blur so much it's surreal.. I saw them live 2 days ago and I'm pretty sure that I'm never going to emotionally recover
It's a Shame he doesn't sing it as good in real life as he does on the record. I think he has lost the heart in singing the old stuff..
It’s a fantastic song! It’s going to sound amazing at Wembley! 😊
Discovered them in 1994. Been listening ever since. Wembley this year was the BEST gig I have EVER been to! ❤
They can still rock and rock hard after all these years
This was suggested to me from the song “Dupe - MOB” 🥵😈😈
this goes so hard 👌
Wow! I just went back in time 30 years. I'm 18 again and I just fell in love with Blur. Damon is my voice of reason and Graham's guitar riffs are my dream. Thanks guys. Now play the USA again!
i love blur so much
I'm so happy blur are back. The timing couldn't be more perfect
WE ARE HERE!! 🔥🔥
this has the sound of 90s blur ... that guitar omg
I think Blur are one of the only bands in rock history I can think of who have actually improved as they have aged. I never cared for them in their early years then Beetlebum came out and that was undeniable good and since then they have just gotten better and better. This is brilliant. The more scruffy shambolic and mischievous they get the better in my view.
Errrm...The Beatles?
@@Johnnybojangles664'one of the only'
I personally like their early stuff. I would say they've been wonderfully consistent. But yeah, they've definitely evolved a lot, and this new album seems like it's gonna be really really good!
Mannn this riff is gnarly I can't stop listening to it
カッコ良すぎ!!
I FUCKED UP!!!!
I'M NOT THE FIRST TO DO IT
MUST FORGO NOW
Great tune! Sadly, Graham says it's the only new one with a riff. I like blur more when he is let off his leash and blows my face off. Still very excited for the LP 😊
This is the Blur we need !
Amazing vocal, chorus and oh jesus, Graham Coxon's guitar ❤❤❤
What a fantastic track!
Coxon. Such a great guitarist.
i saw this live in Primavera Sound Porto about 3 weeks ago. It was my first concert ever, and i am just 14 years old. im going to see them again in august 31 in lisbon. im so excited
thank you for releasing this incredible single BLUR I LOVE YOU THIS IS A MOMENT IN HISTORY
I like this a lot, so good to have blur back
It’s like an outtake from Scary Monsters and Super Creeps. The guitar, the abstract imagery and vocal..
Heavy Great Escape era single B-side vibes! Always a good thing!
Kind of End Of Century video vibes, love it
Once again they showed me that they are the most important band.
This is a very important song.
This is a really nice version. Given how complex the recorded song is, you’ve done a great job of capturing things with just one guitar and one voice 👏
Oh my gosh, my favourite Blur song in ages! Loving the rest of the album too. Long live Blur! X
It’s been a long time since I heard such a good Blur title! With a fabulous guitar looking like Robert Fripp !
Graham sigbature guitar sound makes that classic Blur sound. Graham is probably the best guitarist of his era.
Fantastic song, loved this band since the start, and they still make great music 💙👌🏻
Blur played this song two days ago in Amsterdam ❤ aun no puedo superalo.
BLUR ARE BACK AT IT WITH ANOTHER BANGER!!
SOUNDS LIKE THE OLD BLUR TO ME :3
I've never heard such a wholesome beautiful album in all my 54 years. Not a track I dislike..Received my album the day before release and.im totally addicted . Such a powerful piece of bliss. From Wolverhampton warm up , to Wembley to this ❤ what an amazing few months . Blur please make more music for us in the future, Damon you're voice gives me ear orgasms !!! Whooooo

This is such a damn revelation - first ten seconds hooked me in and I literally went "WHAAAAAAT?!" 😍😍 Taken me back to when I first listened to them when I was a teenager.😍 Thank you so much for another cracking song, lads 🖤🖤🖤🖤

I can’t even describe how much happiness this brings me. A world with Blur in it is a much more joyous one to be in. ❤
Totally different from anything on The Magic Whip. Nobody can say Blur is predictable 👍
Blur brings back the cool
I am instantly back in the early 90s 😍
hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here
The video visually references the repeating style of the 1992 “Popscene” video, the music is very much like Seymour era Blur filtered through a “13” era sonic widescreen sludge. Very nice. The lyrics seem to gesture to someone (the band?) frightened of what it means to be threatened from beneath by something unseen. I take it as a metaphor for the four of them needing each other and feeling a bit like they aren’t sure if they’re still relevant in the context of today’s younger artists (the unseen things rising from under the floorboards). It’s cute and edgy and personal. Given the personal nature of “The Narcissist” it’s hardly surprising this one fits with it thematically. They’re all very articulate artists at this point.
i love it it has that terrorific distorted guitar that reminds me of swamp song. god we're so back
Great band ever!
blur stays on top
Already addicted with this one
It's no game, still love it
Oh man this song is absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!! How I missed the “real” blur…
