Did you add equal parts of the toning shades and how long did you leave it in?

Yes, equal parts, it can stay for up 20 minutes but it all depends on the porosity and other factors just watch until it gets to a desired level. Keep in mind wet hair looks darker so a little darker than expected. I did mine for 10min.
