    Thank you! I'm jealous of that foot, they don't have one like this for my machine and binding does tend to run away to the right on the curves.
    I'll be waiting for the binding in a round video too, I'd love to master it. So far I strongly prefer binding for pocket edges and crossover fronts where it's open by design.

      It was that way for me to but be precise on cutting the strip, feed it in like I did under all the tucks and you should be good. It took about a dozen attempts for me until I realized where things had to go.

    Thanks for another helpful video. I am looking for advice now. Once you attach your binding to the neckline, how do you complete the perfect seam when attaching a raglan sleeve. So what I've been doing is sewing raglan sleeve to both sides of the front and one side of the back, then add the binding. My problem is that seam at the neckline when attaching the sleeve to the back after the binding is attached. I hope you understand my question, Thanks

      I hope this is what you are wanting and referring to!! To close the area after you attach the binding, I recommend Hilde's method. Practice until you feel you have it down or you'll get frustrated!!!

    Hi Jeanette, I have just stumbled across your tutorial and i am most impressed. I have had my foot for over 10 yrs and have never used it. Your instructions and how to use it was very concise and very clear thank you so much. I do alot of leotards so my questions to you are:- to use this attachment to sew bindings on a leotard will it stretch the binding enough to do so without elastic? In your opinion can i used this binder to make straps? At the present, i sew and stretch my bindings on with my overlocker, turn them to the back and then coverstitch them down and cut off any excess binding on the back, if this binder works similarly i would be one happy sewer. TIA Sue.

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  3 роки тому

      I found that binding is different from banding. Banding is what you do when you stretch as you sew, binding does stretch a tad but not on the level to use on leotards without elastic. Binding encases the edge of the garment while banding you are attaching a band to the edge. You can use banding on leotards but I wouldn't do binding. Hope this answers your questions. I'm glad the videos are helpful!!!

      I actually don’t have this attachment anymore because I don’t like the thickness of the binding. I sold this attachment and bought a generic on eBay called top clean bottom raw. It’s half the thickness and you do have to tape it to the machine but the results are so much better, besides the attachment being so much cheaper as well. With a top clean bottom raw, basically the top is being folded while the underside is flat and the raw edge underneath is covered by the stitches of the machine.

    New to cover stitch machine brother cv 3440. can you speak on cover stitch setup for very stretchy fabric for projects like swimwear body suits and leggings. Do I have to change the needle or need a special thread or foot. Your videos are the most helpful. Thank you!

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  4 роки тому +3

      I'm glad my videos help but I'm not familiar with the Brother 3440. As for sewing stretchy fabrics, I use 80/12 sharp needles, you don't need a special foot but I might suggest you use maxilock stretch thread in the looper when sewing stretchy fabrics. The stretch thread helps from popping. I think the 3440 is similar to the 2340 and my settings when sewing stretchy fabrics is usually set at 2 for needles, 0 for looper, stitch length at 4 and differential at the first dot past the 1. Also, if you haven't adjusted your presser foot, try adjusting it so the top of the screw is 1/2" of the machine and just leave it there. I find on the 2340 that has been the sweet spot. There's no issues with going over seams. Let me know if any of this helps.
