    This was the most effective video I’ve seen on the binder attachment. You said there is a notch on the binder that goes just to the left of the left needle. You solved a huge problem for me and saved me a lot of trial and error.
    When you spoke about the different sizes of binders I realized mine was made for wider fabric strips. I have ordered the correct binder attachment. I appreciate you and your videos so much. Thank you 😊.

    It's been a while since I used my binder attachment. Thanks for reminding me of it. Now to go use it again!

    My old Singer treadle machine has this attachment in different sizes. Fantastic machine and all sorts of cool attachments.

    My cover stitch machine stresses me out! Haven't mastered it yet but the binder attachment makes me want to have another go at it. Thanks, Melissa! Great instructions as always. Your long hair looks great too!

    Great job. I hate sewing stretchy fabrics. I mostly do leather but my GF ropes my into sewing some things for her. Usually something she doesn't want to tackle. Thanks for this very informative video.

    What do the numbers on the binders mean like 30mm-8mm, is this the width I have to cut the bias tape so it fits into the attachment? What’s a good size binder to order for garments

      Raw width and finished width. It depends on what your machine will accommodate and personal preferences.

    I'm curious, if I am creating a pattern for sewing, how much seam allowance would I use on the edge I want to bind with the binder attachment, and how wide do I cut my strip of fabric that I use for binding? Great video! Thanks!

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  10 місяців тому +1

      You leave no seam allowance on the edge you're binding. The width of your binding is specified by the binder attachment.

    Thanks so much for this. I’m still a bit confused about which fabric will get stretched when you adjust the differential? Will it stretch the binding and leave the body fabric alone? If the answer is in another video, I’m happy to go hunting.

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  Рік тому +1

      The differential feed will only stretch the fabric that is touching the feed dogs unless you put too much presser foot pressure on.

    Could I use an attachment like that and a twin needle on my regular sewing machine?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  Рік тому

      They do make these for regular sewing machines, but I haven't tried one

    Will that foot work on a Juki MO735 that serges and does cover stitch?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  Рік тому

      You'd need to get the one specific for your machine, but there should be one.

    Hey! Did you like this babylock coverstitch machine? Do you always have adjust tensions? Was it hard to adjust? I am in the market for a cover stitch machine but I don’t have the budget for Euphoria but I love babylock and I have their serger . I know many people upgraded from this machine to the euphoria. I don’t sew a lot and it’s just a hobby so not sure if I need a fancy machine and I also notice the new machine has a larger throat space but I don’t know what is it for? I am new to sewing clothes too. I just want a coverstitch machine to hem some clothes.

      @Mellysews  Рік тому

      I do like this machine, but the one thing I wish it had was more throat space. That space comes in handy if you want to use a coverstitch as the topstitching on jeans, for example.

    I have a video request .. I took a romper (dress, shorts thing) I pinned each panel down on paper and traced them. There is a seam down the front. That was easy but it has a half placket was all balled up in the bottom seam of the placket. when I went to adjust the pattern I had no idea how to draw out the pattern to make it work. At the neck it is a V. The button placket it in the middle. Please help.. thanks

      @Mellysews  Рік тому

      I don’t understand what you are describing or asking for. My best suggestion would be to search “placket” on my website and see if that helps.

    • @staciebell1532
      @staciebell1532 Рік тому

      In your past videos you did a Henley placket that had a single piece of folded fabric down the front of the shirt and you used a separate piece of fabric to make the placket. You also had a video of a button placket that went all the way to the hem. That video you drew out the pattern on the paper. Now: what I need to do is attach the left side piece with buttons and the right side piece with the button holes together. Where the button placket ends it turns into a seam I need to know how to draw that pattern so there is enough material on the left and right to fold to make the placket then go into the seam that makes the crotch of the romper. (Dress with shorts instead of the skirt part) hope you understand and can help me draw out on paper the pattern.

      @@staciebell1532 that's a very specific and time intensive question, and as I don't personally like to wear rompers I doubt it will become a video.

    Is it only for knit or can for cotton also?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  8 місяців тому

      Knit fabrics can be made of cotton; cotton is a fiber, not a fabric type. If you're asking if this one can do woven fabrics, then no for this particular attachment but they do make attachments that handle woven fabrics and do this.

    I bought one of these attachments but for my sewing machine. I‘ve been too intimidated to try it though 😆
