I'm impressed with how calm and happy-go-lucky you always are especially considering how big some of these repair bills probably are, really appreciate that energy
@@phantombigballs8165 I’m sure TR gets a good discount at Evolve but make no doubts about it a V10 M5 can make even people with a few quid cry salt tears if something serious goes wrong. 5 figure repair bills are not unheard of.
I’ve gotten lucky with cars for the past few years so whilst this July has been draining (both M5 and S3) there’s no point me getting down on it, just gotta keep moving forward 👍🏼
TR Hamza what a legend, managed to fix his entire car in just few days, honestly bro its like i fell asleep woke back up and the car is fixed, this garage is a amazing too
big ups for Evolve’s mechanics to let you stick around them while they were working on your car and they also took the time to explain the whole process while doing it.
Only recently discovered TR's videos, they are great, really informative for an M5 owner like me. Also fair play to the garage for letting thsm film, I'd happily take my vehicle there if they were nearer, know stuff there is in good hands.
The AUC sensor forces recirculation of air when the air quality gets bad. It's usually located near the driver side of the cabin filter in this era's 3 and 5 series, probably similar for the M5. Takes 10 seconds and is relatively inexpensive to swap.
Glad its back up and running. For what its worth my E39 Alpina B10 used to throw lots of transmission errors when ever the battery voltage was low, might be worth throwing a charger on it for a bit and give it a recondition.
The cogs of doom! If you know you know 🤣 love your in depth videos and I’m really enjoying learning exactly how my car works in detail and a rare chance to see it all apart. Hoping you get a chance to enjoy it now with no more dramas!
If you didn't know, the clutch engagement adaptation can be calibrated by doing a simple little trick. Roll at at least 60MPH, put the trans in neutral, and hold both shift levers for three seconds. then let go. Afterward, a tone will sound and you will see a calibration confirmation on the cluster display.
Good job in fixing the clutch. True you blew it up earlier but all is well now. You might want to go easier on the car. I don't really think it's designed for burnouts and low-speed power-slides and such. This is a high-speed cruiser. I mean it's like forcing an F-35 to perform low-speed aerobatics. It can do it but not well.
I had a weak battery on mine but never had the cog symbol. Time would reset only. That was the sign that I needed a new battery. I don't drive mine much so battery is low most of the time. Only ever saw the cog when I first bought it and the clutch needed to be replaced. BMW Haroldwood done the clutch. No problems after I got it back. Didn't have to go back for adaptation after xxx miles either. Battery was replaced few years later but was weak from the day I bought it
Great to see it back, the guys at Evolve are amazing! Be interesting to see what you can do with the iDrive to bring it up to date. As much as I love listening to the V10, it would be nice to have decent music on a long journey. I know you tried some Android device, is there anything to iPhone connectivity?
Just finished replacing the clutch and flywheel on my E60 520d, but there's only half a clutch engaging, and sometimes it won't start. I'll need to strip it down again.
TR... really enjoy your Vids, .... this latest project Car, your gonna need very deep pockets, it seams to spend most of it's time with something Broken🤔😮💨
I had a new clutch kit, slave cylinder and clutch position sensor installed but they can’t get the clutch to teach in. Keeps giving the same error message as you got (out of tolerance) and the process keeps failing. Car starts but the gear is blinking and won’t go into gear. 😭
I’ve got one going for sale maybe next year, bearings done, brand new clutch, brand new injectors. Waiting for that price to increase on these beauty’s.
You should have replaced all the o-ring for the solenoids on the top of the actuator block and clutch solenoid o-ring while the transmission was out because it is a wear and tear items as well and put in new chf 11s fluids. You won’t know how long these rubbers in the solenoid going to finally give out. Next week? Next month? Next year? Given that your car is 2008, it’s a gamble.
Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (Babvvo + Tebbvo laws ) !!!!!
you spend a lot of time at garages getting work done on your cars, why do you never share any information about the costs involved? would help other owners out.
Granted the SMG isn’t the best around town, but it’s decent when on max attack. I’d only ever change it for a DCT tbh, whenever the solution becomes more readily available. Currently it requires a standalone Ecu I believe
Got a bunch of OEM+ mods I’ve been lining up to do now that it’s back. S3 engine removal is next video
Yaa Man 👌🏻🔥
Good to see you got it sorted bro!!
U planning on getting a map done from Evolve?
It really makes a difference..
I know you’ve just done the clutch on the M5 but any plans to do a manual conversion to it? 😂
About to do my clutch lol did you replace the bell housing & fly wheel bolts with new?

Amazing content on BMW M5. Keep it up Hamza.
Nice to see someone commit to this beast. Ultimate dream car🚀🚀

Loving the plate mate.
When's the Volvo making its next appearance? This M5 is incredible though! Props to you for making the leap of faith for such a sick sounding car 😂
Love the video and all of your others but love the sound of the BMW even more 💯👍 so made my day and trust me I needed to hear that vqp raw today 👍
Alhamdullilah it wasn't a very expensive fix
Interesting, never realised there was a learning process for the new clutch.
Nice to see you got it sorted it sounds great mate i bet it was a big bill though .

Think he said £1500 last clip, which is not too bad.
Auc sensor is to do with ac ,little black box down side of the radiator
Yassa buzzing
The car sounds so good 😎
You are lucky to have good mechanics to hand.
@Tr Hamza my one had to get adapted nearly 6 times don’t be afraid of transmission warning light coming on again
Low battery will def throw a red cog, also low hydraulic fluid if that wasn’t checked.
Glad she seems fine now one saved do prefer hash over Aston but that's me
Love your videos brother :)
Just a quick question. For normal customers, how much would the rod-bearing/vanos fix cost + parts.
Also the clutch replacement?

Lovely motor Hamza! Did you not fancy doing a manual swap on this? Just seen Drive Tribe do a swap on a Touring.
Thanks mate! No never been too excited by the manual conversions, I’d do a DCT swap if it was a reasonable though
Yey
I've got the same smg error on my 08 M5 due to a low battery charge. After I stared using a trickle charger the problem never reappeared.
Interesting, thank you for the heads up 👌🏼
Plenty of Hand of Hamza in this video so it’s back to business as usual 😄 Glad it’s all sorted
Love the vids mate 👌
Great informative video
This thing is virtually bulletproof now, it’s ready for a proper thrashing!
Were these not sold with 6MT in the UK? I just can't help but feel so anxious about this gearbox haha

Keep up the content, cog of death, try changing the salmon relay. That is what I did on my M3 SMG.
I get transmission fault red clog too but it comes and goes here and there
Feel your pain dude.. had an E60 M5 for 12 months and it rinsed me of most of my cash! “E60 M5, the best car you should never own!” 🤣
I’ve replaced a few clutches on e60 M5’s.
Just converted to a manual bro trust me you'll love.
Would you ever consider ordering manual gearbox from USA
have you seen that drivetribe have done a manual conversation on their M5? any thoughts to do one on yours?
How did you resolve the (engagement position outside tolerance)?
Lol you can learn lad, I wonder how yo7 say that in the German repair manual
Always loved these cars ....can't believe how much the prices have risen since I last looked
It’s because so many became uneconomical to repair when they were at the bottom of the market. As time goes on the good ones will continue rising 👌🏼
@@TRHamza I guess the S3 will have to keep my entertained ... For now 😉
Would not put manual gearbox? saw drivetribe m5 estate did one?
