Honestly, sounds amazing with the valves open or closed. Might need to buy one of these when i can afford a second car. Nothing beats that sound for less than $100k

Seen an e60 m5 on my way home from work the other day. And all I can say is that v10 sound screaming is an absolutely glorious sound unlike anything else on the road, unless by some miracle there’s a Lexus LFA nearby…Beautiful build man, sounds beautiful and good luck with ownership, I hope you get many miles of uninterrupted enjoyment out of her.

My most enjoyable car I ever owned. I had this car for over 15 years, put over 250k miles on it, went through 2 motors , 1 diff, and one SMG unit and drove like an animal the hole time. loved it. just sold it 6 months ago and boy do I regret it after watching vids like this. Had to give it up, lost my license 5 times and my wife finally gave me the option her or the car, It was a hard choice, I swear but I gave in like a pussy and got rid of my pride and joy and kept the nagger instead. worst decision of my life!

How much did each motor replacement cost you?
@@BrandonVallas after the original motor I purchased an s85 motor straight from BMW for 27k. Till this day BMW makes about 2-4 brand new s85 motors a year and they go for around 31k now. You can get rebuilt ones from turner motor sports or gasan automotive for 12-15k but it was time to give the car up. I couldn't afford to loose my license for a 6th time.

@@radoslavzankov yes sir. I went to bayridge brooklyn BMW parts department about 6 months ago and they had 3 units for order available. They are pricey but it's worth the price for a legend of a car.
Awesome video. I have been wanting to get a carbon plenum for my E60 M5. I haven't done anything to the car since I bought it a year and a half ago, as the first owner gave it the Dinan makeover - intakes, throttle bodies, exhaust, stage 3 tune, springs.
I love to see how the pure emotion when you hear it. I've driven my car 12k miles since owning it and still get like that every time I hear it, especially if I have someone else drive so I can hear it from the outside. Love these cars so much

Doug demure I work at a bmw specialist the E60 M5 is like any car it needs to be maintained properly people buy these cars and cannot afford to run or maintain them then they sell them to people who don’t do there homework when they buy then they moan when they go wrong there are only two main jobs to do on these cars one being the rod bearings the other throttle actuators regular oil changes are vital with the proper spec oil .

I was very very close to getting one of these in 2013 just for the V10 sound and 200mph top speed but 2 of my kids were still in elementary and I didn’t want to pay an extra 10k for a warranty
One of the best bangs for your buck if you want a bad ass project car! I love the s65 and s85 engines! Both are really sick sounding engines

crazy how the e60 chassis in general aged so well in terms of its looks. it was ridiculed when it first came out and i honestly didnt even really like them till i picked up a 535i a few years ago. only reason i bought it was because it had an n54 and it was $1300 bucks. The dude had it misdiagnosed as having a blown head gasket, i knew its rare for the n54 to blow a head gasket so i gambled on it, turned out to be a bad injector. the m5 is obviously has a better looking body kit on it than its non m variants but still.
I have this car in South Africa in rands it was R350k so $30k and it cost R400k+ to get it running well stock replacing everything. But now it’s getting billet parts for a built engine with twin turbos. I want 1000-1300wkw we use kilowatts here so that’s 1300-1800hp roughly
I have one, with a Custom built Troy Jeup engine, big tuned evolve intake and tune, RPI exhaust with first cat delete, I love it. Mine has been very reliable for over 20,00 KM

Lord, have mercy! It sounds so much more exotic now. I'm curious about what all came with the tune that you did to it. Did it change the rev limit or smooth out the shifting, etc.? Fantastic video. I know it's been a roller coaster ride with this car, but you keep rolling with the punches. Big respect.

I switched back and forth a lot between your original videos and the new induction sound. Csl sure does sound different. I think the stock , 80s f1 raspy intake creates more theater. It sounds more like its about to explode with the stock rasp. Dont get me wrong , i love love the look of the csl box. I just dont prefer the sound. It does indeed sound more "muffled" like an exhaust system. Sounds more a.m.g. ? Hard to quantify. I just prefer that raw sound. The same sound that people love or hate from high rpm s54's. It is a trick piece of top shelf kit no matter my preference.
I was lucky enough to own one of these for a year or so, and I have never wanted a car back so badly after selling it. I had to sell to free up money for a deposit on a house. A true masterpiece of a car.

I’ve had them all fellas, from Z06 Corvettes to factory boosted Mustangs, before that 951 and 928 Porsche’s even a 911 T and an BMW M3 1st gen and an 850i with Dinan chipset and exhaust. Nothing can can compare to this car (when running). From my experience about 40% of the time of ownership. But that 40% makes it all worth it. There never has been nor ever will be anything that comes close to the E60 M5.

Ive seen people do DCT swaps with the E60 M5… not cheap, not simple, but definitely worth it. The best engine, and the best automatic trans by BMW

Ive done the carbon plenum in 2010 iirc on one of my M5's it was all good till the plenum expands as i open up the car which was scary at one point , i had to send it to a guy that does aerospace parts to get it reinforced and work.
I don’t know. It for me eisenmann exhaust sport, sounds better. Nice job getting it back up and running. Pretty awesome.
I recently flew up to Phoenix AZ to pick up a V10 M6. Test drove it and it wouldn’t go over 90mph unless I put it in M mode. No check engine light. I researched it quick and I think it was the throttle actuators. I got back on a plane and went home with the check in my pocket. As much as I love that car, I’ll never own one.

Sounds amazing. Im not sure why but the M3's S65 with a carbon plenum produces a more ferocious sound than the V10 with a similar setup! That being said, despite the V10's faults, it's one of the greatest sounding road going Motorsport oriented V10's ever developed.
I've got a prototype carbon plenum from Eventuri which is very similar to the aggressive sound of their own S65 plenum 😎 It's a lot more aggressive than the Infinity Design one.
It's my favourite V10 sound ever with the setup I have (similar to the one in the video) and prefer it over my Huracan all day every day!

My 08 is currently getting a new Smg pump. Just a rebuild and it’s running 12 grand lol. Getting hard to keep her going brother.
You might be able to address SMG components individually rather than going that route. But I feel you.
I heard this kit is like 10,000$... for basically 30 wheel hp. You can go a much more affordable route, of running the stock plenums ( they have the same flow as these I believe, and run an Eventuri Cold Air intake carbon fiber kit. With Evolve's tune you will gain about the same HP at a fraction of the cost and it actually sounds better.
Definitely not a $10K kit.

Basically you need a normal car for everyday use. Use the M5 on a run
@@mista5796 That’s the issue, most of the e60s out here are neglected and not taken care of, so when that next person buys it, it becomes a money pit for that person. All in all I don’t have any hate for the car in general, it’s just the costly maintenance that bugs me.

I wish I had the extra money to modify mine. I have a F01 750i. And the fuel injectors r bad, so I'm replacing those myself bc BMW wanted to charge me 7k. I been wanting to get a tune, but it's over 1k miles and I don't have money to replace timing chain and crank bearings, so idk if I should or not

Lol I used to work in jiffy lube, and a guy had a basic trim version of this and was staying that it was twin turbo, I asked him to show me, and it was bone stock under the hood and was claiming that the turbos were hidden towards the bottom, but I never saw them, the only thing that was done to it was the suspension on stock rims and the fitment was terrible

Really cool this transmission sound like a manual, no hesitation and smooth sound between shifts. Fun to have the new fast shifting transmission, but sounds aweful on a shift
Well it is a manual trans. It's automated with a hydraulic system however.
