when you pay 8k over msrp and inflate the price, making the car 52k that is in a way approving the mark ups and not helping the cause of this being an attainable car.
But that’s the thing, this notion is an attainable car is wrong. It’s not. It’s a rare car with limited production. It’s not affordable or attainable for regular people. I know I can never get one.
Depending on the year, the Tacoma would've held its value a little more. Even an FK8 CTR would've been way cheaper and more reasonable, but the FL5 is definitely a beautiful machine.
I agree trucks hold there value pretty well. With the gas prices being so high still and the new turbo Tacoma coming out soon, I figured I'd sell the truck while the return on it was still reasonable and get the new CTR.
Picking mine up tomorrow, 7.5 mark up. Opted to shop dealerships in the western part of my state as the mark-ups there were between 5 and 7.5. Got on a few lists a few weeks back and that was that. Wanted Black but getting the more generally desired Championship White. Windows will be tinted in the morning (20 back, 50 front) the car itself arrived just a few hours ago. Getting 27k for my 22 si (paid MSRP: 9.4 k mis) so total out of pocket with tint < 30. About an 80 mis drive from where I live, a drive home of which I'm looking forward! *What if anything about the car did you not really anticipate? Does any aspect stand out-- either good or bad?
Glad you were able to find a FL5! This being my first Honda and first FWD car, I have to admit that I am very impressed and surprised with how planted it feels and how little torque steer there actually is.
@@peter_sims Well, Peter? Man.. *far* more handsome than I expected, the extra width gives it a shorter look than the fk8 which in recollection seems long and spindly by comparison. The Championship White simply glows, obviously the jewel of the lot, I almost felt embarrassed to be purchasing it! Test drove it briefly, with the dealer to get gas, then it was back to do all the paperwork, write the check, hit the highway, head home. This car has a regal feel, a solidity I've never experienced before in a Honda (felt as if I was driving an upper echelon 90's Mercedes town car)-- nothing, not even the feel of the seats, was as I had expected, but better. Still a little giddy!
@ve6753 you mean the drive of the Type R is completely different from the Si even though they're built from a similar civic platform and share the same interior ?
@@1anre Cash. Originally paid 31.5 for the si, drove it for a year, kept it in pristine condition (no rim rot, not a scratch on the exterior-- not a single identifiable scuffing to the interior-- the car was in great condition). You're obviously correct that I got too little for it because the dealer himself asked me how much I wanted for it and I myself said 27-- he disappeared for about 30 seconds, returned, and said 'done'. The morning after I returned with the r he called me from the dealership to inform me that he had already sold my trade-in. That said, aside from the control panels, the cars are nothing alike. The process of the sale was rather quick (I had been hunting for months) so when I found one incoming for a price I could afford I sprang; that my si had actually increased in value over the year I had it really didn't occur to me until about a month after the deal was done. Nonetheless I'm satisfied with what I have. Live and learn.
I was one of the first people to have the new CTR and the markups a year ago were crazy. People were paying 25k above MSRP so the 8k over offer to me didn't seem to bad. Yes, I agree markups are not the move but for how early I was able to get the car I think it was worth it.
My FL5 is coming in hopefully in the next 45 days. It is also the sonic gray. What percentage tint do you have and would you go with the front tint bar?
Local dealer here in FL is 8k over. Considering others are 15-20k that’s not “bad”. Ideal? No… but not bad. MSRP is just a suggested price by definition. Ideally you pay the BEST price for a car compared to the market. Market for these is pretty hot considering the limited quantity. It’s not ideal but it is what it is 🤷🏻♂️
crazy how people have to justify how much they pay for their own car. You don't ever see this in other communities like porsche, bmw, audi, hell even hyundai where markups are insane but only broke honda folks be mad as hell and make everything toxic
That's more reasonable after the destination fees. I have heard someone that got a chance to get the FL5 at MSRP, only if he buys the accessories. I think he was allowed to get the car if he purchased 5k in accessories. Also it was a Boost blue pearl.
I question any FL5 purchase at MSRP. I called 30+ dealers and the lowest mark up was 10K. I did find some that wanted 5k cash over MSRP and 8K in add ons. The carbon spoiler is 5k+ btw. I ended up with a Golf R MK8 20th Anniversary. Paid 3K over sticker.
That's was a UA-camr and he got the carbon fiber rear spoiler and the HPD 19 wheels too. I saw a video from Jeff Ashton and he bought one at MSRP in a Tenesse dealership and he paid a delivery service to bring to Florida.
Dude it wasn’t reasonable, you loved it and bought it that’s on you but don’t say it’s reasonable, Mark-ups will never be reasonable. As much as I love this car, I don’t love it enough to be part of the people that are supporting this nonsense. I’ll go with an Elantra N instead for sure I’ll find a good deal on that one. Congrats on your new car tho 🎊 🎉
Well a least you didn’t paid fckn 70k for it like other dumb dudes, i think is a good deal you made with the dealer sir, i also think that markups are insane, but a lil over 50k thats actually not bad
You're one of the rich few and the deaker worked on yiu knowing you won't leave unless you get the car. Not everyone got $8K to throw around but you do. Now, you're part of tge exclusive FL5 TYPE R club and also in the youtube game too. Hope no buyers remorse creeps in some months later when you realize the very foljs you paid the $8K cost of admission to nake cool content for, are a very unappreciative bunch and you still like the car just for you
I love the car and have no plans on selling it. As far as the mark up goes, I've worked hard my entire life and now can afford the cars I've always dreamed of owning. I don't agree with the mark ups and never will, but I wont apologize for buying something I've worked hard to obtain. As far as UA-cam goes, I do this for fun to stay creative and busy.
Funny how Honda built these cars to be more affordable to car enthusiasts, but buyers like you guys willing to pay the BS mark ups and allow and encourage more dealerships to make these cars more unaffordables ;) LMFAO
These cars are not going to be made after 2025 so boys want their hands on them now before they finally get discontinued and honda starts making electric Type Rs

@@Aussiemz of course, he can do whatever he wants but I wrote that based on what he was saying in the video.

8k up is crazy. People have already lost money trying to resale on a 10k markup
Skip to @2:35
Here in Australia it is a non negotiable price of 72,600 drive away
I'm not sure what that is in US dollars but its about 50k still here in states for a FL5.
$8,000 above MSRP? I am happy for you but man… i really wish all these dealers will go out of business in favor of direct purchase

Your 22' Si was financed or you bought it cash outrightly and why are you getting on 27K for a 2022 Civic Si?
Was the car badly used by you?

$3000 over msrp but for accessories. Brickel Honda Miami.

What did you pay over MSRP for it
in Philippines its 73k usd

Gave away 8k of your hard-earned money is not reasonable

OMG!This car is more than $100000USD in Taiwan cuz the fucking importer and tax.
~50k for a super performance Civic isn’t that bad
