Tackle sickness...I've had this for the past 3-4 years....tested positive for Tackle-19...only symptoms are drooling, eye-popping at lures online....best illness I've ever had...Bomber Long A, aggressively jerked just below surface is killer in spring!
Black Friday coming up and cyber Monday , it’s time to restock my friend . I lost my fav lure yesterday after catching a big fish :( I need my jerk bait back
@@jasonjohn1978 👍 gotta admit though...I could literally look at lures online everyday...maybe it really is tackle-19!! I'm running out of room for more lures
Anyone else laying awake at night, waiting for the latest TB drop too? 😅. Love the long videos, keep crushing it Matt and Tim. And tight lines to all you guys
Matt,, I gotta say one thing. You n Tim are a God send to this sport. The trouble that you guys go to for "us" the average fisherman so we don't have to go down the rabbit hole as you say. The time n money you spend is crazy just to help people that you don't know or have never met, but with that being said I'm glad I've gotten the pleasure of meeting both of you at the Bass Master in Knoxville. Thank you so much for what you guys do for us, I've learned so much n trust me you guys have helped me so much. Thanks n God Bless both of you
I am new to fishing with the bait casters. I'm still learning, but I am getting a lot better. I think that they are the best teachers out there. I love you guys. Thanks.
You make me giggle when you talk about the “sickness”. Also when you get thrown off by your surroundings. Sometimes we just can’t help ourselves...but I think that’s why your so good at what you do. Love you guys...Keep up the great work!
I'm impressed just by the fact that he's picking up and putting down, waving around, stroking, manipulating, grabbing on these baits with sharp hooks and not once hooks a finger.
I’ve been a UA-cam student for years trying to hone my craft and I believe this is the best instructional / breakdown video I have ever seen on here. Great job Matt!
I love how both Matt and Tim have the attention of a squirrel when their filming a video on the water. “Oh there’s a blowup!” Ah man… It never gets old. I think we’re all guilty of it.
I’m a pond guy converting into a lake guy (kayaker) and I love throwing flukes. So recently I started throwing jerkbaits. I think they are quickly becoming my new favorites.
Hands down I have had the most consistent success with jerkbaits almost anywhere! I have started to pressure myself into covering more water faster lately just to break a bad habit of sitting in an unproductive spot for too long (I do that a LOT) and kinda pulled away from my trust jerkbaits in the process, but I think I’ll focus on refining my jerkbait fishing now through winter! One thing that I have used to make sure I have dead line in the winter is using braid with a fluoro leader (usually 4-6 feet leader at the max - no clear water here in souther Indiana, especially on the Ohio River), and that has eliminated the coiling effect. Plus ends up being a LOT cheaper just replacing leaders instead of an entire spool of fluoro because even the cheap fluoro gets expensive! Tie a good FG knot and you’re good to go!
Guys. Thank you! I can now replace the hooks on many 110’s hanging in my garage like Christmas tree ornaments. I’ve been buying them up every spring. This is the best and most comprehensive video on any kind of baits I’ve seen. I’m going to expand on what I carry with confidence now. I can lea e a box of jerks at home now. I carry these “just in case” jerks around with me. I never use them. I’ll give them to someone who is getting started in the sport. All good baits. Just not up my alley. I’m half ready for spring after getting a few of the rods you recommended in the Black Friday series. Keep up the awesome work both of you. I appreciate you. I haven’t watched a UA-cam video in so long where I got up from my seat, grabbed a new pad of paper and started taking notes like I was back in college again. Lots of notes. 😅
Not just bass. Any predatory fish. Trout (the big ones), pike, bass, etc. Awesome video!!! Love the jerkbait!! Had a 60+ fish other day and caught my first striped bass on the 110! Yesterday!!
Thanks to you guys, my best friend bought an expride last year and I bought a Dobyns cb705 and we got into jerking a year ago. We had better luck fishing through fall/winter than we do throughout the year. Anyways, he saw (last week) the expride in stock and has bought me one for my upcoming bday! So, thanks guys!!!!!
Tactical Bassin #1, as always taking it to another level. As a person who loves the “why”, I do appreciate when you geek out and get technical. As a megabass fan boy, it annoys me to no end when people bash the 110 as having garbage hooks. It is my understanding, courtesy of the guys over at The Hook Up Tackle, that the vision 110 and those light wire out barb hooks they come with are designed to be fished on 8 pound florocarbon, with heavier line being the main culprit with those hooks bending out. I Gotta say though, mad props to you for taking the time on the gram scale finding suitable alternatives.
“It’s a sickness!” 🤣😂🤣. For some reason I struggle catching em on a Jerkbait. I’ve seen all your(and others) vids on it but for some reason, translating it to the water has not worked out YET. I’m not giving up. Thanks for so much incredible content.
Matt, your passion for fishing and tackle is just awesome to see! Makes me always want to get out on the water and just go fishing. Always! Thank you for all TB does for the fishing Community!
Caught a slob peacock bass in the glades on a jerk bait yesterday just under 5lbs hell of a fight, learned a lot from your vids over the years thank you it actually started with a jerk bait video and the water management people who would watch me pull bass after bass out couldn’t believe I was using a lure and the advice I learned from your vids, keep em coming
Just picked up the 6-10 medium Expride after waiting over a year for it to be back in stock. Fished it this past week and WOW! Casts a Vision 110 a mile and just perfect action for jerkbait fishing. Thanks for the recommendation.
You can take the memory outa the fluorocarbon and mono by running it through a closed hand creating heat .. it straightens it right out I do braid to leader Aussie fisherman and I do this to all my leaders as needed , ive been learning so much from this channel about correct lure use its great, and I recall you saying that when finesse fishing bass that an amazing thing happens on the lighter drag the fish come right out hahahah thats how we all fish in Australia its more about fighting the fish longer ,,ive fought many fish including huge barramundi outa snags and laydowns on lighter drag your line won't break and a fish can be fought in the timber even as line wraps a log or two ......
I recently bought the Cashion 6’9 MH topwater/jerkbait rod, primarily for throwing a 110 jr on Chick/Nickajack, and it performs amazing. The way it loads up and absorbs those monster hits, while simultaneously being able to snag those subtle smacks is unbelievable.
You guys taught me everything I know about jerkbaits. I started fishing last fall and I didn't even know what a jerkbait was until I saw a guy catching fish one day when nobody could and he showed me his jerkbait. I tried using them but had no clue how to use them, put it this way I was so new I bought a super spook thinking it was a jerkbait lol. I watched your jerkbait videos and a year later the jerk is my confidence bait and I have caught tons over the past year with them. Thanks TB just wanted to let you know your videos really help people.
I love that your so fanatic about Jerk baits. I used the link in the video you posted last year to make sure I purchased the exact hooks I needed to swap on my 110 silent because the stock hooks are worn out, and my favorite color in the 110 silent is out of stock.
THANKS MATT, I needed that. Love me some Jerkbait fishing, this summer I experimented with all sorts of jerkbaits beside the Vision 110, found some that work great in "warmer conditions." Couldn't agree more with Matt about the Jackall Rerange. Thanks for intrducing me to the Damiki Slim Jack, always looking for newer style jerkbaits.
I've been waiting h for another jerkbait video. Really starting to love the jerkbait. What stink is I just had back surgery and I can't go. My Champion hasn't been on the lake very much because of this dang back. So I've watched every video you guys have put out while I'm layed up. Great looking jig. Have to give this one a try. I have been using the Don Iovino twin tail trailers with my small jigs. Take a look at them. Some great colors..Thanks again for sharing.
Caught my 9lb pb last night on a 6th sense provoke 106X , first day and first fish on my new megabass jerkbait special rod, the short handle and rod length made it super easy to fish from the shore and I love it! Can’t wait to get back out there n chase my next pb
Matt, you are a great teacher. I really love learning from you. I live on Lake Martin, a clear water lake for Alabama Power. Spotted bass and large mouth are common. I am reentering bass fishing after years of work getting in my way. You have really helped me. thanks
I don't bass fish but watch all of these to apply to inshore saltwater fishing. If anyone is in the same boat as me, the suspending shadow rap is a great trout bait fishing it similar to how he describes. Saltwater is a little denser so a bait that suspends in fresh will be more buoyant in salt and I feel like the the heavier bait suspends better. It consistently out preforms other hard baits for me. I have even added weight to it to get it to sink on pauses to fish deeper edges.
Yes sir Matt, the best 10$ a person can spend when getting into jerkbait fishing is a box of suspend strips or dot's, turn them all into fine tuned tools! That and a little bit of time you can turn a 4$ jerk bait into fish thrasher even in cold water, The key being put the time into tuning them. Also I use a 6ft 3in med light / xtra-fast Cadence CR7 spinning rod with the Cadence CS10 4000 spininng reel, braid to leader of course, and that is a pretty damn good jerking set up for under 200$. Great Dive as always thanks for all the juice.
Matt and Tim, thank you so much for putting these videos out for us. I'm new at fishing and thanks to your videos I've learned where and how to find the fish and how to get more and bigger bites. This video alone got me my first jerkbait catch. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I love when those pesky walleye interrupt my bass fishing. Walleye jerk bait bite is my favorite. Usually transplant all willful participants to Lake Crisco with fried potatoes , Cole slaw and hush puppies
Ive got the sickness to. just got serious into bass fishing within the past year. Ive got it bad. Want to try so much but it’s so expensive. Love the videos everyone I’ve watched has been a banger.
Gotta thank you guys for this one here. I'm from Boston MA but moved to Tennessee to be with my girl friend. Anyways I been struggling to catch anything period cause the water and bait fish is so different, but Wednsday I caught a Skipjack Shad, was about 2ft long and fought great, because of this video. A shad colored floating jerk bait that I threw cause they were chasin balls of shad all morning and tried what you said in this video and BANG THERE IT IS! Keep doin what you do it helps a lot
Would love to hear your recommendations for throwing jerkbaits on spinning gear? Love jerkbait fishing, in my experience color has been the biggest factor in getting more bites, over the cadence of the jerk even.
in my experience, speed has been the biggest factor in getting more bites. Not only some days they wanted more pauses, also the speed of which you jerk. 1 sec of 0.5 sec each jerk makes a HUGE difference imo. At least here in Europe on our species. All colors catch fish but some a bit better in certain circumstances.
This channel is amazing. Your video are amazing. I got hooked since they talked about flukes. I've had so much luck with their fluke style and a handful of other rigs
THANK YOU, for the great descriptions. Jerkbait fishing is one of my favorites to do and I'm ALWAYS looking for that bite. Like you I've got way too many because I'm constantly wanting another way to excite the bass. Really looking forward to the fall bite to pick up in North Georgia
Thanks for the specs on Jerkbaits and setups. They are the go to bait for pike in the Spring up north. I live in Canada and bass season doesn't even open 'til last weekend in June. So I'm fishing for pike through May and June and Jerkbaits are used primarily for pike in May when they are in shallower water. Having said that I end up catching a lot of smallmouth during those times even though not targeting them.
Those pike here in the north are always a factor! I run a small steel leader most of the time for that reason. Here in zone 20 in Ont, we had a pre spawn bass season last year. Best bass fishing of my life probably
@@kirkblackadar7299 I fish out of Georgian Bay. When Pike fishing early in the year I'll hook up with super aggressive smallies (defending their nests I guess). So I get the best bass fishing that time of year. Unfortunately where I live they are still out of season during the pre spawn.
6'10" Medium Expride is a BEAST. Amazing for Jerkbaits and crazy versatile for a ton of other techniques all year round. Hands down best combo I own. Paired with a Curado MGL 70.
Never tried mega bass but the RIP stop is my bread and butter love the video content cause I'm a bait junkie when its comes to baits to catch more fish
Wow finally thank you wow if there was ever a video on fishing bruh!!!!!!! This here dude is also among many truths. Thank you well done content.!!!! Wow!!!!! Well done
awesome video as always Matt! I bought a rearrange a little over a year ago, and love it. Of course can’t go wrong with the 110 baits. I’m going to have to give the whipper a try, on a spinning rod of course. Lol
Just picked up a dedicated jerk bait rod the other day and I love it. I got the Shimano SLX 6’10” medium extra fast with an SLX reel with 10# Co-Poly and couldn’t be happier. Had a blast on the water throwing a Vision 110 yesterday. I think it’s time to replace the hooks 😂 Thanks Matt for the awesome video. I’ve never had success with a jerk bait until I watched this video.
I don’t get to fish much, mostly in the summer when I come back home. But jerkbaits and spooks are about the only lures I can catch fish with. Largemouth and striper
The new Diawa Zillion 1000 is a phenomenal reel for throwing light baits and I have it on a Phenix feather 7’2 MH which is actually more of a medium. Perfect for jerk baits
Those megabass x nanahan things have been proving to be a kick ass little bait. I've been fishing them for a week now and I've popped smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, and northern pike on em. Sick little bait
I haven’t tried the rod your using but I’m an east tx boy and there is a company based out of tx called kistler that my friend told me about and I love the rods they have. unlike any I’ve used before the sensitivity is unreal
I bought the Expride 6’10” because of you! And it’s perfect, I paired it with a Shimano Scorpion MGL, the red one, and man I love it! Always do braid to leader. It’s great For top water and blade baits too, sometimes even the small Keitech finesse jig!
Love seeing that Rapala Rip Stop In Your Hand in the Intro!!!! Super Underrated Jerkbait! Also The Rapala Deep Runners Work Amazing As Shallow Jerkbaits... Shhhhhh on that one though... It fools Stripers and White Bass Also In Black and Silver.
Matt that was the best jerkbait fishing info ever. Man I have learned so much that will improve my jerkbait fishing up here in Northeast Tn. Thanks so much.
Line type and size play a big role in if your bait suspends. Also how much of said line is in the water. If you have 100 feet of 12 Fluorocarbon in the water, it will have more weight on it than 50 feet etc. Jerkbait fishing is so technical. It will drive crazy but it’s so fun.
Thank you for all the instructions. I learned some new things. :-). I didn't realize how the line memory can pull the jerkbait forward, ruining the fish hitting it. I can wait for this freezing weather to pass, so I can put these tips into practice. 🙂
Fantastic video Matt. Recently began devoting more time to jerk bait techniques and it's paying off. Your video provides so much detail and as you say will save me and others a whole lot of time and experience to learn on our own. Thanks!!
So there I was saving up to buy myself the Expride 6’10” med for my birthday…. Aaaaand Matt drops this video and within days they’re sold out across the board. Great 😊👍🏼
Sorry guys! I suspect they'll be out a while again now.. On a positive note the Curado 6'10" Medium is a really solid option if you're looking for an alternative. Here it is: bit.ly/2gUWTft
No worries, the MB XX JB Special is only another $40-$60. Got one of those instead it was just frustrating at the time, I shouldn’t have been so grouchy about it. I’m sure there were plenty of people waiting longer than I. I already do pretty well running a jerkbait, it’s pretty selfish of me to complain. Improvise, adapt and overcome. It’s the Indian not the arrow. Thank you for the alternative recommendation and sorry for the grouching. I wouldn’t have been out for that particular rod to begin with had it not been for you guy’s in the first place. Thanks for all your help
Hey Matt. Come fish the Bay Springs lock & dam lake in Northeast Mississippi. (Tennessee waterway divide cut) Deep , clear water year around. (Hint : the water runs north away from the dam). This is by far the best video yet. Thanks man.
Picked up the Shimano Expride 6'10" medium but now the Shimano Aldebaran MGL HG reel isn't in stock and I have to wait for it. That said, it's coming into the time of year where it's too cold to fish where I am so I can wait. Thanks for the continued recommendations!
Thanks for the break down…I’m trying to take on jerk bait fishing. I ordered and Xpride and a curado 70. I’m going to put those visions to work. Keep the info coming
Best jerkbaits I got were at a Bentonville Arkansas Walmart in the dollar bin 17 years ago. Surprisingly they were Rapala baits for fresh water. I brought them back to south Texas and they worked great in saltwater.

Matt you guys are fire!! I have gained a lot of knowledge from you and Tim!! Always looking for the next vid to drop!!✊🏽✊🏽
Matt and Tim, thank you so much for putting these videos out for us. I'm new at fishing and thanks to your videos I've learned where and how to find the fish and how to get more and bigger bites. This video alone got me my first jerkbait catch. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Matt you and Tim made me a better angler thanks for all the videos and great info 👍🏿 😇😇
One of the best videos I have ever seen explaining the Jerk bait. 👍👍👍👍👍. Keep up the great work lads, it much appreciated.
Nigel (Chicago)
I love when those pesky walleye interrupt my bass fishing. Walleye jerk bait bite is my favorite. Usually transplant all willful participants to Lake Crisco with fried potatoes , Cole slaw and hush puppies
Practice good walleye conservation...fillet and release!
Loved this deep dive into Jerk Baits!!! Would love to see more deep dives into other bait types as well! Thanks for the great content!
Amazing video as usual from the best bass fishermen on the internet. Tactical Rocks. Thanks for sharing this with us Matt.
Well said. Now I need to go out and see if I can make them work.
I love you guys man I've learned so much I been watching since I was 16 and I'm 23 now thanks Matt and Tim!
That's awesome!! Thank you for continuing to be a part of the Tactical Family!
This channel is amazing. Your video are amazing. I got hooked since they talked about flukes. I've had so much luck with their fluke style and a handful of other rigs
I love that you guys are really putting Rapala onto your line-up!
Yes. I catch many more fish on the slow sink Shadow Rap than any other JB including the 110's.
@@greenpighunter6930 have you tried the Husky Jerk or X-Rap from Rapala? Just picked a few up myself.
@@jefflovinfishin621 Yes. I'm a Tackle Addict. The 1/4 X-Rap works great when they're chasing small baitfish.
We're happy to do it. Its good to meet a fellow jerkbait nut!
As always Thank you 🙏. I’ve been so blessed to have found your Guys channel a few hundreds thousand subs back…god bless your family’s
6'10" Medium Expride is a BEAST. Amazing for Jerkbaits and crazy versatile for a ton of other techniques all year round. Hands down best combo I own. Paired with a Curado MGL 70.
I'm amazed how versatile it is as well. I use it for a ton of applications!
To me, this is peak UA-cam. Love it!
Never tried mega bass but the RIP stop is my bread and butter love the video content cause I'm a bait junkie when its comes to baits to catch more fish
Great video man! I’ve always been a fluke guy but I’m going to look into investing into a set up! Thank you!
Hey I really enjoy watching your videos they're always super informative, keep up the good work
Wow finally thank you wow if there was ever a video on fishing bruh!!!!!!!
Lol
The number 9 Rapala rip stop has been super effective for me with this technique
I’ve never had confidence in jerk baits but after watching this I’m going to try it out this season! I’ve got some new ones painted up and ready!
Absolutely phenomenal info.. Thanks again Matt for your in-depth knowledge!!
Thats awesome!! Way to go!
I don’t get to fish much, mostly in the summer when I come back home. But jerkbaits and spooks are about the only lures I can catch fish with. Largemouth and striper
the Rapala shadow rap has worked well for me, love that one.
So Cal calico bass fisherman moved to Arizona getting into freshwater largemouth fishing and love the content.
Love the underwater footage man, keep it up!
I haven’t tried the rod your using but I’m an east tx boy and there is a company based out of tx called kistler that my friend told me about and I love the rods they have. unlike any I’ve used before the sensitivity is unreal
which model do you use for jerk bait?
Now this is my type of fishing, I wait all year for the fall just for jerking. Vision 110 and the 6th sense are my favorites
Yes! I have plenty 110s and 110s plus 1 but the 6th sense is under rated!
I bought the Expride 6’10” because of you! And it’s perfect, I paired it with a Shimano Scorpion MGL, the red one, and man I love it! Always do braid to leader. It’s great For top water and blade baits too, sometimes even the small Keitech finesse jig!
I'm so glad to hear this! I throw all those same things on it as well. Tail spinner too 👍
My All time favorite Jerkbait is the Vision 110 FX in pumpkinseed color
Truly a fish magnet
I went to bass pro shops today and had a terrible attack of the sickness 😂 Love your videos. I learn so much from them!
This is one of the best videos I have seen hands down!! Thanks for the info!
Thanks for watching!
This has to be the best explanations of jerkbaits I've seen this is a new technique to me,thank you for so many answers to my guestions
Btw man love you videos..it really helps guys like me thats new...i wish there was guys like you in south africa💣💯
Great 😊👍🏼
Yep, I thought the same thing!! That rod is never in stock when I can buy it.
Sorry guys! I suspect they'll be out a while again now.. On a positive note the Curado 6'10" Medium is a really solid option if you're looking for an alternative. Here it is: bit.ly/2gUWTft
@@tacticalbassin No worries. Its just a very popular rod. Thanks for the the suggestion though!
I do very well with
the Rapala Xrap 08 when the water gets cold
X rap has caught the most for me out of all my different jerkbaits
Hey Matt. Come fish the Bay Springs lock & dam lake in Northeast Mississippi.
(Tennessee waterway divide cut)
Deep , clear water year around.
(Hint : the water runs north away from the dam).
This is by far the best video yet.
Thanks man.
What’s awesome is the budget setup you linked is 25% off on tackle warehouse if you buy a rod and reel right now!
