Matt, your teaching seminars are phenomenal.I really appreciate how you break it all down for everyone from the novice to the advanced. Thank you so very much for making me a better angler.
Thanks Matt.About 10 years ago i started leaving a jerkbait on my deck year round.I finaly realized that if i took 5 or 6 cast on every spot i was dropshotting or ned rigging i would catch my biggest fish of the day.Thank you guys.
This channel and the information that Matt and Tim bring to youtube over the years has made me a much more effective angler and has brought an incredible amount of information and understanding to method fishin and breaks down technique to the maximum and i am forever appreciative.
I always love the seminar videos, you guys give such good info and deep dives into all things bass fishing! As a west coast guy, I was initially bummed when you guys moved out east, but tactical bassin is still just as relevant as ever for all things bass fishing!
Matt, this is an amazing video! I learned and relearned so much! We are lucky you have the passion to put out content like this. Nobody does it better than Tacctical Bassin!
Tha amount of knowledge you guys have on fishing is amazing. You should write a book or have a DVD covering what you know about fishing. Thank you for sharing.
Just broke in my Zodias and Lucky craft deep diving jerk bait with a bass today! The jerkbait, swimbait, and top water bite is turning on for my home lake! The key for me today was realizing that I was over working the action of my bait. I remembered from last years jerkbait video to correct the action and got bit on the next two casts. Great update to the legendary Tactical Bassin jerkbait tutorial!
It’s so great, these videos!! Over the years I’ve managed to get most of the gear that you and Tim like to use, ( Folsom Lake, Ca). But, you always slip a new secret in. I need to remortgage my house!! Love you guys!!
Caught a few yesterday on one and literally looked for the most recent video on em soon as I just woke up, appreciate it guys! Keep it up! Tight lines 💪
I've been waiting for this video to drop. Absolutely amazing great job! I love jerk bait fishing and after this video I'm definitely going to get a BFS set up and start working the smaller baits in to my arsenal.
nice to see the rozante in the lineup, i have absolutely wrecked smallies and crappie with that little thing. great and consistent action, and razor sharp stock hooks.
I love your videos. I've learned a lot watching them. I'm going to be 50 next year, but the 12-year-old in me is going to ask that you not use the term jerk-baiting because it's hard not to snicker lol
You ain't kidding about the world minnow. I've pulled in 3 4+ pound pike in the last couple months. Pulled HARD too, hooks still good, bite marks all over it 😅. My new favorite. Honestly the price is worth it for me
Thanks Matt! I just inspected your bait links and you guys REALLY need to talk to Tackle Warehouse about an affiliate account. I would guess you guys drive a ton of traffic and business to their site, and should be rewarded for that! Could be a decent chunk of revenue for the channel. Keep up the great work guys 🍻
Got my pb last weekend on the megabass junior in pearl. Sadly didn’t get weight but was 21”. Never would have got those jerk baits if I hadn’t watched ur videos years ago. Megabass is the best cold water jerk bait hands down.
I had my crazy spot day at Folsom on Elegy Bone! They were firing on some brighter stick baits, so I tried my first sinful shad they lost their minds hitting it at 100mph! I went straight to Basspro Rocklin bot 3 EB 110,100jr,100jr+1 and put on a clinic the next dat. Was also smashing lake trout mixed in! So fun! LM my craziest day was on black back, gold side, neon orange belly 110.
Another Gem ~ Tons of killer info in this one. Maybe I missed it, but don't sleep on the 'silent' jerkbaits. A loud rattle will call them in no doubt, but in much of the super clear waters I'm fishing, especially the shallower deals, a silent bait can be like magic ! btw- I am a jerkbait addict.
Matt, for BFS jerk baits, try the JDM Zodias 6'6" MMF. It's a 2-piece rod only available on e-bay. Super light, super crisp, and has handled Texas Bass for me up to about #6. Another great under the radar rod is the Airrus Mercurial 6'9" MMF, another crisp rod with a great tip.
Jerkbaits are my favorite baits to throw (yes, even over topwaters), especially smaller ones. The Evergreen FA87 is killer, as is the Duo Realis Rozante line. For full size the Jackall Rerange is great, would love for them to put out a smaller version!
Kept the Vision 110 +1 tied on for 3/4 of the year at Dale Hollow. Just checked pictures and caught a 14 inch crappie while bass fishing back in March. Was joking about keeping the thing tied on most of year, if they’re not biting my vision 110, then I’m not fishing for them.
In 3,2,1...Matt "Jerkbaits, my favorite technique" 😂 Jerkbaits are in fact 1 of my favorite 38 techniques......in the 80's I was in my teens, an a Smithwick Rogue, Bomber Long A, and Rebel Spoonbill were my jerkbaits...."if u could only have 1 jerkbait" i can't comprehend that sentence & my jerkbait collection proves it...anyone remember the Rebel Spoonbill catching giants back in the 80's? Deep, cold water around standing timber was the big bass technique & was why I bought my 1st 1
@@richardbossman9875 Rapala deep dive husky jerk 12 & 14, and Smithwick deep dive Rogue are basically the same deal...I just ordered both in a few colors to try out...both suspending, too. Should work same places as the Spoonbill did
I know it’s not for this channel’s recommendations, but North fork makes a 6’8” 5 power mag bass blank that’s really nice for those bigger jerkbaits. Super easy to make yourself one.
I bought the 110Jr in Matt Shad last year because of you guys. Best bait I’ve ever used. All I care about is having fun and this thing is just constant fun.
The most bad ass rod I’ve found for the Megabass Kanata Jerkbait is the Megabass P5 7’ Tequila Baccarac or my Megabass Valkyrie 7’4” H !! on 18# sniper!
You guys missed some really good jerkbaits by Osp, the Varuna and Asura in particular. The Varuna is a great slashing bait in a 110 mm size and the Asura is a great finesse jerkbait at 92 mm.
I love a good jerk bait bite from the 70’s as a baby in the boat watching my dad and mom and seeing it dun down to teaching me how to. But My dad had dun had to stop bass fishing and fly fishing due to the back surgery that was dun and destroyed his back and shoulders in 84’. But he loved the jerkbait but in south Louisiana they never used more then a cast and 3 jerks and reel stop on balsa baits and he’s caught 11’s on it with old pistol grips and 33’s with 10#-12# and was the one thing he took more seriously than anything else was fishing and hunting
You nailed a problem i had with the smaller 110. I was trying it and so confused why it came to the surface. Pretty sure i was accidentally pulling it, now that you said it lol. Great video as always.
I'd throw in a polar opposite in "that schooling situation" around 8:50. Some catch & release guys will put a schooling bass in the live well because fish trigger a fear response when put back in the water after a hook set, risking causing the entire school to spook & get lock jaw. That has to be also explained in the video. Schools don't necessarily go from negative/neutral to red hot after 2 or so get plucked. Also, be up front: A Megabass Vision 110 is $20-25/stick bait. "Save up some coin" I think was the word choice. You know you'd have viewers closing the tab if you hawked $25 stick baits... you know this! There is a whole lot of pondering I have to do to equate a tiny bass stick bait costing almost as much as a musky bait... it's bait per dollar IMHO. Rapala? I can buy 2 or more for the same price. Honestly, I didn't finish watching. You hawked product in this 1...like I mean over the top hawking Megabass stuff. It's an informative infomercial. 1st thumbs down for your vids by me after multiple thumbs up. Stop with infomercials.
Always, always appreciate the work ya'll put into these videos! Reviewing your gear, do you ever use heavier gear? I have several medium/fast rods but they dont seem strong enough with the larger/heavier baits e.g. world minnow.
In my mind, it's about pairing to the fish, rather than the bait. So while the heavier baits feel a little overloaded, I know I'm good when I set up on a big one.
I've been a long time watcher and yall have some awesome tips and tricks but I bought the hooks you recommend for the 110jr+1 and they weigh out .3 grams heavier my jerkbait sinks like a rock now great modification to get a little deeper but I was hoping for an exact match to the stock hardware
That’s all I used before tying on a Vision 110 a few years back. I probably have 75 Rouges, sinking, floating, suspending. Many from the 90s and 2000s and some older ones. They’re a great lure. I would definitely adjust it more with hooks or weights like Matt suggests. I have so many that I had a hard time trying a Vision 110+1, but the engineering is like comparing a BMW to an old Ford Pinto. I still use the Rouge because I have so many and different options but only because I can’t afford more Vision 110’s in many colors and styles like I have with the Rouge’s. I’ve got a few 110+1’s, +2, and one +1 plus junior. I lost one of them early this year and another one was taking on water after I smacked it on something , and that hurts at $24 a pop.
Hi Guys, I love your videos, have followed for several years and consider your videos as the most informative. I’m from South Africa and you guys should really visit us!!! Great video as always! I know most of this stuff is probably geared towards boat fishing. How does it differ for us shore guys? Should we be looking at anything more than another
I bank fish all the time. I like the yo-zuri 3db a lot from the bank, it costs less to replace lol. I like the thought of that super shallow lure he has though, not particularly expensive either.
Great seminar! During the summer and early fall I have had success with the Zumverno on spotted bass and I started using that bait after one of your other videos. Some pros have advocated using occasional upward twitches during the retrieve as they feel this will sometimes get a bite out of an uncommitted bass. Do you or Tim ever use this technique? If you do does this work for you all?
I don't agree with that method, but to each their own. Jerkbaits are already breaking cadence and creating reactive movements... I just don't see the value.
I really want to get into jerkbaits but in DE I’m fishing in 3-5 ft water from boat and mostly scum in ponds/lakes. I bought vision 110jr, Shimano flash boost etc but haven’t had any luck

Euro tackle has some of the best action and looking bfs jerkbaits especially suspending. And the prices r cheap
I live in FL and fish a lot of shallow ponds that have a ton of grass just under the surface. Is there a jerkbait to cut through those weeds and not get hung? Thank you.
Best jerk bait video ever
Hey Matt do you think that the medium light Expride can be used for those midsized jerk baits like the zumverno 95
You can definitely use it for that but it's not ideal. The 6'8" Medium is a better choice.
@ Ok thanks
First!
SECOND!🥈🎉
How about removing the middle hook on the + 1 jr and replacing the front and tail hook with no 6 g -finesse 10:16
try Victory St-Croix spinning rod
This guy has jerkbait OCD and we love it.
Ha! For sure!! 😂
Dang it. I need some vision 110’s. Pike cost me hundreds a year in bite offs already.
Those toothy critters can be brutal!
What are your thoughts on pairing the Shimano Metanium DC for jerkbait fishing?
It will absolutely work, but you won't get the same cast distance.
@@tacticalbassin thank you! I’ll go with the Aldebaran.
What do you think about the Megabass Orochi jerkbait rod vs the one ten stick?
They're very different rods. I personally prefer the One Ten Stick.
@@tacticalbassin would you still classify the orochi jerkbait rod as a decent rod to impart the action needed or does it overpower the bait
