Honda Civic Mk8💦Water in Passengers Footwell Solved Finally!

  • Water in the footwells of Honda Civics mk8 seem unfortunately common, and can be either on the drivers side or passengers side. If like me you have water in the passenger side only it could be that its not from an outside source but from the cooling system internally around the AC.
    Watch through until the end and you can see exactly how I carried out the fault finding and what you can do to resolve it.

    i’ve got the same
    problem.
    especially in the summer.
    you can seal the cabin filter lid but that means the water will accumulate there and eventually it will mould the filter and you’ll end up breathing that in….
    i’m debating making another drain for the cabin filter enclosure.

      Drain would be great idea

      The drain hose may be clogged up with dirt resulting to accumulation of condensate water inside the a.c. filter-evaporator enclosure thus creating a sump on lower cavity

    Reminds me of chasing the famous Mk 1 Kuga water ingress into the front passenger footwell. Tracked it down to cracked body sealant in the near side rear roof water channel under the roof bars.

    In your Civic, does the boot have any water in the spare tyre/wheel space at all? I think this is a common issue as the car gets older, ours has this issue and is a 2009 mk 8 I think similar to yours. The rear lights have condensation in them and I've seen this on other civics as well so I wonder if this was modified on later models to prevent a wet boot etc.

      Unfortunately not mate!
      Got an 11 plate and I’ve had the dreaded boot leak, unless your talking about the next generation.
      Mine was leaking in two places, the seal had started to perish around the upper rear windscreen and I also had water coming in through the common area, on the roof guttering under the black plastic seals!

    Found your video helpful. I recently purchased a 2009 civic and I have the absolute most dreadful condensation accumulating inside the car. I suspected it could be a blocked ac drain or a knackered condenser. I haven't had chance to check either yet, but I did replace the cabin filter which was a factory fitted one from 2009 !!! Typical 13 service stamps and never changed. If you have any advice on MY condensation issue before I start hunting it down pls let me know and thanks for your video.

      Be sure to check if you dont have the leak from the top of the boot. I fixed that 2 years ago on mine and here i am with a new water leak. This is the clip i used for fixing the boot lid: ua-cam.com/video/OZP2XpQ73mc/v-deo.html

    • @GrooveOn
      @GrooveOn  9 місяців тому

      Check to see if you boot/trunk is dry under mat, a common leak is from the two seals that run from the roof into the top of the tail gate. If your boot is dry then its fine. Check if the leak is under your carpet at the front, if its on top then it could be the condenser

    After all, did you encounter any issues? I have the same problem with my 2008 Honda Civic. The issue is that the cabin filter is damp, but the cavity where it fits is dry. The filter is wet at the lower part, especially near the passenger side door. I've also observed water droplets seeping in that area, right where the cavity's filter closure flap is located.

    • @GrooveOn

      @@mateialexandruionut2545 if you watch the video, you'll see how I fixed the leak, it was the seal on the cover for the Evaporator, once sealed I got no more condensation dripping from AC. Try turning off your AC to see if it stops leaking

      @mateialexandruionut2545 Рік тому

      I watched the entire video and followed the steps you took in that video. I have already tested it, and when I turn off the AC, there are no more water drips. However, from your video, I saw that you applied sealant in two places: at the flap where the cabin filter is located, and also in that area where you removed three screws and put back that piece that provides a seal and was originally installed on the sponge. I know that after applying the sealant in that area, you noticed there was still water leakage, so you also applied sealant to the cover of the cabin filter. I would like to know what the actual problem is. If you can help me with this, I would appreciate it.
