Once you're outgrown your turbo busa, the next best bike to move up to is the ninja 650.
Hey man that’s what I ride
@@TheG60528XiJinPing correct, he will need to upgrade to the GSXR 250
@@Motoboo_Marine actually he will need to upgrade to the Honda grom
Mines not as fast as yours.
I was on a built 1100 many years ago that would spin the tire. Super crazy. Scary!!
never thought about it, but it makes sense
Can you add more older bikes to these kind of lists most of the people looking for a new bike dont have a budget of 10k ( i sure dont)
Top comment right here. Searching for a second-hand older bike, but all they talk about here are brand new and usualy around or over 10k :/
Love this idea, idk about around you but around me, nothing over 600cc is under 5 grand, and at that point there’s a lot to be had brand new at 6-7 so that kinda makes the “affordable used” market that used to exist, irrelevant
This is true
same dude and even if i had it i would probably still not spend that on
Great idea
I think the rebel 1100 is a great choice. it’s under 10k it’s a Bullet proof Honda thing and super light
I got the Sportster S but I agree, the Rebel 1100 is a great package.
@@MrEiniweini if only the sportster s was slightly bigger. It needs a bigger fuel tank and rear suspension clearance that way it can be comfortable yet also set up for long distance riding if need be. Manufacturers keep forgetting all the good riding for most is a ways from home in the city.
Honestly, I was surprised that this didn't make the list...
I wish I could get one for under 10k in Australia is so expensive around 20 to 30k I think.
If you can find one.
I got a a1 licence (47 hp) , now doing my A unlimited licence , I used to ride a ninja 250 and my lessons are on sv 650 , the difference is huge , the difference is something I honestly didn’t expect , first gear is longer then the old ninja 3rd one , take it easy guys
I am doing my A license aswell right now on mt07 and i have sv650 at home started on cbr125 and yeah... safe to say its WAAAAAAAYYYY faster.. and im glad i got the sv650 instead of mt tho it feel so cheap and the suspension is very... funny to me
started on a suzuki gs500, now on an 02 yamaha fz1 and im very happy with this decision.
Upgraded from my 125cc to the Street Triple RS last year, absolutely love it, so easy to get along with from the moment I jumped on it
Just in time! I was just looking at upgrading from my iron 883 to my next bike! A Dyna Low Rider with the 103!! Yeah baby!!
Beautiful bike!
Started on a sportster 1200 and stuck with it for about 2.5 years and then sold it over the winter and got a fz09 haven’t gotten to ride it yet because snow, can’t wait to take it for its first spin
Went from cruisers to a 900ish naked sport bike (z900rs). Big difference: welcome to better handling and more power! Have fun!
I started on a Ducati Scrambler Cafe. The bike just called to me with its looks and after riding a BMW 310R, a Rebel 500, an R3 and then the Ducati I was most comfortable on the Ducati.
It was just effortless on starts with the extra torque of the 803, and didn't have the gearing issues of the others where you are pushing 5-6k rpm at 60 in top gear. It was essentially brand new so I have been keeping the RPMs down until the first oil change/service and then I will open it up more as I grow. Instead of starting smaller and getting tired of it.
Street triple. I love her, just wish she had cruise control.
I've already got my second bike. I traded with my dad and got his old 87 Yamaha Virago 1100 and I love it..
Virago was my first bike. What a junker, but such a good way to get addicted to riding.
@@TeensierPython Mine is a very nice 1100 gold edition with black widow pipes. Wanted that bike since I was a little kid And it's still just as bad-ass in my mind as it was 10 years ago.
After 3-4 years with a Z300, I'm looking to skip the 650 class and go straight to the Z900 at the end of the year. I had the opportunity of riding one on a racetrack (Interlagos, one of the most fun in the world) and despite being a lot more powerful, I found it manageable. I was also looking for a GSX750S but their prices went to the moon here in Brazil (well, moreso than other bikes) and is now more expensive than the Z900.
Went from a cbr250r to a MT-09. Totally doable and i was timid about it at first. If you're confident in your skills, skip the 600 class.
@@ChimzMT09 did you not watch the video… mt09 makes 117 hp ur still in the 600 class
@@ChimzMT09 mt09 makes 600 power. 650's are way slower than 600's
Nice. Right now, I ride a Yamaha bolt as my first bike. It’s at cruiser 950. But after a while. I want to get a z900rs it’s the cafe version of the z900
@@ChimzMT09lol 600 and 650 is two different worlds. He said he will skip the 650 class. 600 is middleweight supersport. The 900 class is the same when it comes to naked. Middleweight supernaked
I would definitely like to suggest the Kawasaki Z900RS
Also could we get a version of this list with used rather than new bikes?
Yea im sad for no love for z900/z900rs, i guess our dear papa yam does not want recommend bikes they haven't test run yet
Same bikes but older. Boom, list.
@@A6Legit you're not wrong
@@bokbokbagawk Thats why I said it lol. I'm sure theres some older models that are good but best bet is just buying one of these slightly used.
I am looking at the Z900 50th Anniversary. For my third bike
I jumped from a suzuki gn250 straight to a Kawasaki zx12r. The first ride did leave me cleaning out my trousers but you soon get used to the power. Its more the difficulty of learning to corner properly on such a behemoth
Second bike, but not replacement, keep your ninja 400 or r3. They aren't worth a ton and they'll still be fun years later, and get even more fun the better you learn to ride on larger and faster bikes
2:59 i cant help myself but to see an angry ant whenever I see one of those. Great bike from what I‘ve heard but I just cant rap my head around the looks of it… 😅😂
I jumped from a donkey of a 250cc scrambler to a Yamaha MT-01 (1700cc v-twin street bike), no major issues really. Was a sharp learning curve, but depends on the rider. If you ride stupid, then expect many close calls or an accident or two... If you have throttle control you should be fine!
I started on a 2013 Z800. Maybe not the smartest of decisions, but I love everything about it.
Wow
2018 Triumph Thruxton R paid 9k used has very nice suspension and brakes, not to mention looks that kill. The power is surprisingly sufficient as well as good reliability.
Just got a monster 821 as a second motorcycle. 110ish horsepower, and it's delightful.
Started on a Duke 390 and after 2 years I upgraded to a sv650, I don't really need more but I'll get there, I'm thinking duke890r
1st bike was a Royal Enfield Classic 500 Bullet. 2nd was a BMW r1100r. Big leap.
Started on a gs 500 Road it for about 2K km then upgraded to Honda cbr 650. AMAZING 2nd bike!
1st: cb500four 1971 after I did full Restauration
2nd: VFR750 RC36 1997
Still feels like from VW Bully to Audi R8
Got a good deal on a 2013 Street Triple for my second bike and it is a bike that I have a very hard time seeing any reason to upgrade any time soon. Phenomenal power, seating position, and it weighs less than a sv650.
Bought an '09 Yamaha FZ6 S2 for my first road bike last year, big upgrade from the 125cc pit bike I had as a young squid. I will only accept an R6 as a second bike lol. The R7 just doesn't tickle that spot the same way a four banger does. I know myself too well to buy a litre bike.
I’ve had my eye on an FZ6 in my area. How is it with over taking other drivers (especially on highway) and comfort?
@@derrickg3503 Super comfortable bike, I put over 6000kms on stock seat and no complaints there. As for highway passing it has no issue getting up to speed, though It only really starts to wake up around 7500rpm. Typical I4, gotta ring it out a little bit.
Owning the tuono 660 is just more fun on the street than I can really describe. That amount of power and pull down low makes boring traffic or mundane routes seem like an event. I don’t really understand being unable to keep yourself from twisting the throttle all the way on a bigger bike as I had no problem just tooling around on an rrrrr1 (for 5 minutes before I was in a lot of pain) but I don’t need to worry because now it’s rewarding to do that rather than deadly. Great video yam.
Lol I bought the 890 duke r as my first bike in 18 years. I did zero research. I happened to be at the store with my son picking up his first bike and got approval for a bike from the wife. I had test ridden the duke 2 690 about 19 years prior and loved it. So, I was like let me get the new one. Spoiler alert they are very different bikes. I love the 890 and am so happy everyone else does too. The only thing I don’t like is being charged for the dealer to unlock all the features, like the technology pack and cruise control.
Finally yamie u mentioned the 890r. My dude you are really sleeping on the 790 and the 890!! U need to try at least one of them PLEASE!
List of bikes I've owned since I was 15:
1. Suzuki tu250
2. Suzuki Vstrom 650
3. Suzuki gsxr 600
4. HD Road King
5. Kawasaki X300
6. BMW R9T/5
7. BMW S1000RR
And your favorite was?
@@pethsm tie between the Vstrom and the R9T.
Vstrom could do everything under the sun and it was cheap and well built.
R9T because it too was cheap and the /5 color is amazing. It's all out fun and what I like to call "closest thing to piloting a WW1 German biplane."
I looked at the Scout. Bought a Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster instead. Very comfortable bike. Torque is where you want it even though it makes less power.
I'm just happy you included the Honda cb650r and the cbr650r. Always getting ignored in most of the ranking and comparison videos.
If you aren't into that neo-retro look of the cb650r, you can get a cb650f which looks a bit sportier and cooler imo :)
Crashed my bandit and got a CBF1000. It's a nice entry into the 1000s 🤗
I just bought my second bike a month ago. I got a Triumph Street Triple R 675, & I've been absolutely loving it! I think it's technically more of still my first bike, though, 'cos I laid down my actual first back & trashed the transmission after like 3 & a half weeks, & couldn't get it fixed, & that was like 4 years ago.
I'm going a speed triple 675 too woo!
I started on '08 ninja 650, don't think I can get rid of her just yet but I'm eyeing the beastly R1
First bike was a ninja 400 upgrade to the daytona 675R last year, love the daytona it's an awesome bike. I just wish i kept the 400, it was totaled.
sold my cbr300r yesterday and getting a daytona 675 2013 tomorrow so exited
@@Jc3Films You are gonna love the Daytona. 👍
I love that on the recommended second bikes from 5 years ago he listed the r1
Good thing there’s aftermarket headlight options for that triple.
Nice. I'd really like to I'd see a used bike equivalent, considering bikes from the last 5-10 years. (I bet I'm not the only one who buys used almost exclusively.)
Yep, put one for 10 to 20 year old bikes (for many of the 600cc and 1000cc bikes they have fuel injection starting from 2001-2003 depending on brand, and nobody wants to tune multiple carburators, let alone 4 all at once...)
I can sometimes find a decent GSX-R or R6 bike in that age bracket for around $1500 to $2k. I don't see the need to spend a whole lot more for not much difference (at least until they start doing carbon fiber frames, but thats not common yet)
The Mount Rushmore of UA-cam Riders goes as:
DanDan The Fireman (for Safety and Awareness)
Chase on Two Wheels (for lengthy reviews)
MotoJitsu (For proper skills and techniques)
YammieNoob (The All-Arounder; touches on all these categories. And arguably the funniest and most entertaining.)
~Runner Ups~
SrkCycles/Bikes and Beards
CycleCruza
650ib
I agree with most of that. Just really don't like Motojitsu. He too often takes a riding technique for a specific type of bike and presents it as for all bikes. As a current owner of 2 different styles and a regular rider on a 3rd, I know that to be bad advice or even dangerous in some cases. I use different techniques(even opposing techniques), depending on whether I'm riding a supersport, naked, or cruiser. I've been riding for 20 years and have ridden just about every type of bike at least once. After watching a couple of his videos, I quickly questioned his knowledge of riding various types of bikes. I would never generalize riding techniques the way does. But I agree with the rest and their reasons. I would agree that Yammie's videos are usually much more entertaining than the others as well.
May I suggest Fortnine as belonging on Mount Rushmore?
May i suggest @Blockhead
@@elevationmoto6208 you can't, he's canadian.
Having bought a Royal Enfield 650 I was worried I'd be left out...So glad I wasn't lol. I'll come back to this some day.
I grabbed the Sportster S (well 5th bike but what can you do). The biggest I had before that was the Triumph 865. You can't compare it to the Indian Scout. The Scout has nothing on it. Keep the Sportster S in "road mode". Glad it made the list but the Sportster S kind of lands in the advanced bike range at full power, not the "second bike".
Well, for the additional price of almost a whole other bike, I guess it should beat the Scout. Of course for that additional 5k you can buy performance mods for the Scout that'll have it keeping up with Vrods.
My starter bike was a 390 Duke, but I'm leaning towards the rebel 1100 or even an africa twin for more touring comfort. I'm not sold on anything at the moment
Hayabusa, Boss 109R, GSXR1000RZ, Betta 390rrs, katana 1000
Wow. Second second bike video. Wouldn't be the second time you did a second video for a great topic.
I went Ninja 250>KTM 390 Duke>KTM 690 Duke. I’m wary to move up more bc I love the punchy single cylinder 690 and I usually only commute. Prob gonna hang onto the 690 til I can afford an R1
My first bike was a NinjaEX400 KRT ABS and I've decided it's time for a new bike. I've been looking at 1000s and even checked out the h2 for shits and giggles. I don't like that this video called me out so accurately. I guess I'll stick with the zx6r...
I started on a cbr300 which had a catastrophic failure, they had a recall on the 2015, Mine had it done but done wrong. so, it blew up. then i went to the cbr500 due to restrictions and me not really enjoying the cbr650 with a limiter, just felt weird. So technically 2nd bike but not really that much of an upgrade, however im very happy with the 500, i‘ll possibly even keep it when upgrading to the big one in two years, its fun in the twisties and with that being basically all that is there to drive over here it was a perfect fit
Might want to check your stats on the 890R , the ready to ride weight is a little over 400lb.
If it was 366 wet ready to ride that would be a helluva power to weight ratio way too quick for most inexperienced riders.
Any chance you could get the numbers right?
Duke 890R has a dryweight of 366 Ibs. Says it clear as day on their website. Identical dry weight to the street triple so please...
Also i like how you single out honda and give the rear wheel horsepower when for every other manufacturer you give the crank horsepower.
Cbr650r baby it is the best! Let’s see it on the next give away with lots of mods Shammie pubs ridiculous dude Yammie noob
I went from a hyo 650 to a gsxr 750 and the acceleration difference was hilarious. What you get here is brakes. Omg those brakes will break your man parts until you get the soft touch. Be careful with your new bike guys, you're upgrading everything.
Literally just bought an r6 today! I know I’m a squid now but I’m so hyped!
On a rebel 250 right now, looking at a Ninja 650. Cheap(ish) and they seem readily available in my area. Could probably go for something a little bit better but it's what I've settled on cause I want something with some more power but that will be more manageable than a 600 and especially a 1000. Offers a comfortable riding position which is nice cause I do have some current back issues. I know that the 650 class gets hated on but I think it'll do me well for quite a while.
I went from a klr to a vstrom, not a massive jump but still felt crazy
I ve got a bmw f650 (single )and I am thinking of going on the vstrom is it that better of a road experience?I go off road as well and I know vstrom sucks off-road but is it so much better on road than a single ?
I've got a LAMS cb650f. I don't want to spend extra on derestricting it. Since I commute daily I think a speed triple 675 would be good for daily and weekend rides.
I started on a ninja 650. I put 12500 miles on it in 18 months and then sold it and bought a S1000r. Made the same 12500 miles in 18 months and now I have the M1000rr at 24 years of age
No hate but are you aware you could have 3 solid bikes for the price of just that one? My buddy who has a m1000rr had to buy a second bike cause he’s always stuck waiting on parts that broke…
@@Chumbucketsecret what parts? It’s pretty reliable so far. And I kept the s1000r just in case the sports bike would be uncomfortable which isn’t the case🤣
@@Chumbucketsecret none taken
I started on a 2019 650 also but traded that in for a 21 zx-10r. Best investment. Being 6”1, the 650 is cramped to me. Glad I did wait a bit more until I got my dreamish bike 👍🏽
@@therealjp3177 great man!! Stay focus on the grind. My ninja was the 2018 model with candy blue paint. At the time that was the absolute dream
That ninja 650 engine... Total bliss.
So many mods lol.
Want torque? Think about it?
I'm riding a CBR650R (2022) as my first bike, I think I will go for a naked bike 900cc as my second bike.
All attention is for MT09.
Also, my CBR650R weights 210 KG, which is too much!
I want a bike weights below 190kg, light weight --> easy to turn, control.
Looking to go from a Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 to a Z900.
Can't go wrong with that if you want power and better handling, just be prepared for more power wheelies on acceleration.
pluto is a planet! just like a turbo busa is the best 2nd bike
40 yrs ago,Snap On was still stupid expensive, but, had the best gripping tools on nuts and bolts, ( preferrable, if you made a living with them ). Now, a lot of brands will do great, gotta do a little research.
Great video Yammie.
Is it ok to upgrade from a 100cc to a ducati797??
The KLR slander lol that was my first bike a 08 KLR loved the thing but had no plans on offroading so sold it and got a 07 FZ6
According to the KTM website the Duke 890 R is 366lbs dry and some other online resources say around 405 wet is what they measured.
Got my first bike a sv650 upgrading to a huyabusa next season

Looking at the comments i thought i was the only one that noticed this reference , but then i found you haha :D
Love your content! Keep up the great work!!
Tammie forgot the beautiful new Triumph Trident. Also, didn't mention Insurance Rates. These vary widely, but an R6 may cost as much as the Payment !
A busa with even bigger turbo is the best option. Or maybe a turbo h2.
Twin charged H2 would be bonkers

No Mt-09 or a Tracer 900 for second bike?!?! They are both like best in class by far..

Don’t get 😠
890 is my next bike. KTM is a step above.
Tracer 9 :)
Yammie you should testride this btw, perhaps the Tracer 9GT
I wonder if you'd hate it or love it, there is no inbetween
4:00 yammie, that's what unreliability is
I am thinking to go from a Vitpilen 401 to a Yamaha Fz8 or (maybe, but I'm skeptical, cause maybe it's too much) Fz1. What you think?
I'm ready for another bike but I'm torn between a Honda Navi, because realistically, 95% of my driving will be the 2 miles to work and back, and something for cross country touring which I may do every couple of years. I ain't driving to Key West and back on a Navi, and a Goldwing is out of the question for a 5 minute trip to work. Throw short height into the equation and there is no perfect bike for me. Open for suggestions.
Suzuki SV 650 is good for short riders. Looks good, sounds great, handles well, not too expensive.
What you think about Kawasaki Z650rs
The green with God rims is absolutely beautiful
Grew up riding, but hadn't ridden anything but a quad in yrs til I picked an old cb400. Ride that for a summer then jumped to a Sportster "48". Still have the HD but wanted to go with a sport bike. Went new with an r3 didn't want second hand headaches. Love the R3 but wasn't sure if I was ready to jump to bigger bike. Found a 97 FZR600r Genesis. Used that to acclimate to a mid size bike. As far as 600's go the precursor to the R6 is an animal. Now ready to go to the next level will probably get a 15 or later from a dealer. Like the riding position in the R3 but a lil more leaned forward should be fine. What should I go for?
0:45 unsplattered 😂
book stand hit hard
How about "Best Beginner Sport/Naked for 1100cc+ Cruiser Folks Who Haven't Ridden Since Having Kids 8 Years Ago And Want to Recover the Thrill for Under $6k As That's the Most Their Spouse Conceivably Wouldn't Have a Conniption Over"?
Want something fun, usable around town, comfortable, possibly good for a few track days a year, but enough power to not need to trade up in 3 months.
Interesting tidbit at the end.
The street triple though!
tuonos are crazy money in the uk though compared to the others
R1200 gsa and a road king special maybe 3rd bike...chopper? 🤔
I am one of those irresponsible idiots who upgraded from a 48hp beginner bike to a 1000cc MT-10. The only reason I am alive is that the MT has drive modes and I started off in "rain mode" all the time, and I was scared enough not to go at the top range of the revs where te power is. The acceleration is absolutely indescribable, I've driven 600hp cars and they don't come close to what a liter bike can do.
You will have to pry my rear and front stands that are way too old from my cold dead hands!
Taking delivery of my second bike tomorrow but its not a power upgrade like you would think currently have a 2020mt07 and taking delivery on a 22 tenere 700
Well in all fairness reaching out to other styles can still count as an upgrade if you like one more than the other.
Yeah but what about upgrading from these bikes?
Imma just get a vespa or something
Would a Ducati Supersport be a good upgrade from a ninja 650r?
I bought the 890R as my first bike 🤷♂️
Is the sportster s not worth the price? The Indian scout is 12 grand. Yes, the sportster s adds $3000, but it loses 60 lbs, gives you better fully adjustable suspension, better tires, better handling and ground clearance, more power, more torque, imu enabled and adjustable traction control and abs, cruise control, a tft dash, bluetooth connectivity, navigation, led lights, variable valve timing, brembo brakes with 4 pistons up front, hydraulic lash adjusters, a quick shifter, a slipper/assist clutch and better build quality. I'm not sure the scout is the bargain of the two.
Hey yammie please do a review on the yamaha R15 .😀😀😀😀😀
Z900, was an amazing second bike
Ninja 400 now, my next bike is going to be the CBR600RR
