Yeah, this is amazing. as I scroll through their latest videos looking to see what's in the works, there's little doubt about who I will be buying from, not only because of the quality at the price point they offer, but just as importantly, what you just pointed out. I don't think I've seen this with. a company this big before. on a similar note, the last thing I remember is, I hear you guys want thinner phones, here it is, no more headphone jack... also we've bumped the price up $200.
I love that the DeepMind has Wi-Fi. I can use the editor over Wi-Fi so the USB connection is available for use with the DAW as usual. Also, Program/Bank Change messages are your friend. In most DAWs, you can select what Bank and Program should be used on each MIDI track, so you don't have to remember which patch you used in which project. As soon as you load the project, the synth automatically switches to the correct patch. I hope more future Behringer synths will come with patch memories, it makes life so much easier in a DAW-centric setup.
Dude!!!! Beers on me if you ever get to SA(Texas) My treat. I just spent yesterday smashing on synths and clicking everything off and even put back my smaller interface without effects and still couldn't find where that damn echoey weak metal reverb sound was coming from. Even reset up all of my external instruments in Ableton. Damn man. Wow. I had alot of those bleep moments , while trying to control my anger as I live next to an elementary school. Literally. I'm old to messing with gear but still new I guess to integrating it to laptop. Last time I attempted making industrial electronic music I was using a tascam. Which by my surprise, may be ideal lol with cassettes making a crazy return. Well anyway my brother from another. Thanks man. Bad ass and hats off to you. Just recently got a pro 1 so now on to synthesis 101. ;) Keep up the great work and damn the pro 1 is a beast . (Just got sound )
Nice to see götz working for behringer. I learned alot from him some years ago about diy midi conttollers. And now posting a very good solution video!! 👍
Always note the patch number and name from your hardware synth in the track name and/or audio file. If you ever come back to session and want to overdub something new a few days/weeks later it'll save a lot of grief... especially if your synth can hold dozens of patches. SysEx dumps are helpful too... but that's a much longer discussion.
Please create an official plug-in editor where I can put it on a MIDI track in a DAW project, work on the sound on the hardware synth the save it as a preset in the plug-in editor, then recall it if needed in the future to the hardware. Make one plug-in editor for multiple of your current hardware synths. This would make the workflow even more safe to return to older projects and make sure you do not lose important saved presets when working with Behringer hardware synths.
Great idea. The Novation Ultranova has that. Every hardware synth should have that bundled with the synth from my viewpoint, as you can also use it as a preset librarian, alter the global settings, and use it to change the synth knobs and controls within your tune on the computer.
Sysex dump utility? Does DeepMind accept a sysex to set the patch? I hear you, though. It would be great if the Yamaha Reface (for example) had made an audio unit as a librarian / editor instead of the SoundMondo app.
As a workaround, you can use midiox to accept a sysex export from the Deepmind 12. In Reaper anyways, you can then send sysex to the Deepmind 12 at the beginning of a track, so that you send the preset to the synth before it begins playing the midi in Reaper.
@@warrentriantafelo5326 Cheers, that is possible and it does work ok. Behringer, Korg etc already make computer librarians/editors for their hardware synths, all they have to do is convert the librarian/editor to a VST. It would encourage people using software synths to buy hardware, particularly if they know nothing about MIDI and sysex etc....
@@niknayme3754 I agree. In my opinion the purpose of buying hardware in 2019 is to make the music experience more "fun," "hands on," whatever you want to call it. Sure we can get great sounds out of software, but I'm tired of only staring at a computer screen. I'd value anything that makes the experience of using a hardware synth more effortless :-) As far as sysex goes, I'm just sayin'... If someone is desperate to do this without vst integration, it can be done ;-)
The main problem I have is when sending midi from my DAW to play my external synth the audio from the external synth comes back significantly delayed and is out of time with the rest of my VST synths and drums. Ableton's delay compensation never seems to work properly.
On a slightly different note, if you're using the Deepmind 12 as a controller keyboard for a desktop synth like my Blofeld be sure to turn Poly Chain off in the Global settings.
I have integrated a Deepmind 12 into my setup. I have problems with midi clock jitter. Setup is Reaper on an MSI laptop -> RME Babyface Deepmind 12. Regardless of whether I use midi over USB, midi via RME Babyface, or sync the clock in my DAW to the clock in the Deepmind 12, the clock jitter is bad enough that an arp on the Deepmind will be far enough out of time with Reaper to be unusable after 10-15 seconds. I can't believe there is any problem with the Deepmind 12 clock, nor with the RME interface or drivers. I'm confident the clock instability is in Reaper, the processing power of my computer, and speed of the USB buss in the laptop. Workaround is to draw the arp into individual midi notes in Reaper, as the latency isn't much of a problem and if consistent, can be adjusted for. I would however very happily buy a Behringer product that would function like an Expert Sleepers Usamo or E-RM Midiclock, to eliminate the clock jitter.
Thanks very much, i think with out destroying the forum space, i would think this could be a good way to go solving user involvement and experience, so people can watch a quick video on problem solving a lot easier. What i mean is having more How To Do, videos for your products.
Thanks for the great video and tips! But I still got one question: Is there any chance to change the arp rate on the Poly D to 1/4, etc instead of 1/16, while using the USB-midi clock?
@Scott Behringer, can you please tell me what are the proper midi settings for a PolyD, I’ve been trying all types of settings but I’m getting a loop with the notes, the PolyD behavior is random and unpredictable. Sent video snippets to tech support but no answers. Thanks.
thanks for the info, i hate synths after buying one and spending days just feeling stupid lol trying to do midi connection combinations.. yea its really frustrating stuff
Great Video! I Have a question on how to best setup my TD-3 with Ableton. I also own a Pro-1 and this works fine but due to the TD-3 having it's internal sequencer which sounds waaaaaayy better than sequencing via ableton it's difficult to get both running smoothly. I was thinking about running the pattern midi out of the TD-3 into ableton - building the track and then running the midi back out of ableton into the TD-3. Seems a bit clunky is there an easier way? Maybe via midi cc for pattern changes?
A much more useful video would be about leveraging MIDI CC to control the parameters in the hardware synth. This video isn’t clear that it’s just about how to setup your synth and daw’s MIDI config to avoid double triggering your hardware synth.
Very informative! Quick question, how to design the instrument’ s sound on GarageBand by hardware ( in my case using my prophet as a midi to play other instruments on GarageBand but I can’t design the sound of instrument by the prophet) Kind regards from Sweden.
Hello, my problem is that I cannot use plugin effects on the synth when performing. How can I do that? I am trying to use Valhalla plugins and none work, they only work on my vst’s!!!
hi! how can I connect my behanger poly d (via sync in) to a midi sync connector? it doesn't seam to accept the information I send via logic... where can I find instructions on this? thanks a lot! nico
Other way to do it is not connecting the synth to the audio interface. And connecting the computer out to your studio speakers. This way you only use the midi info on the track.
Great video, but there's one hardware synth into play .... I have about 10, reaching 22 outputs that need to go into my DAW.. Does Behringer have a solution to cable this up? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

On thd main insert a DBX MC6 and on the send a ART effects network and a Realistic electronic reverb. So I tried recording only loops and mixing them in the box, inly to realize I have no idea how to do that "the right way." I tried recording with a 5dB headroom but the SH32 output is always too low and when I turn the gain up - it sounds too loud. The others sound relatively similar in turn of loudness, but I am afraid to record at -18dB as people suggest, because of the noise issues. Unfortunately, I only have an hour or so a day to fickle with this, because of my other obligations. I wish someone would make a tutorial about this, not just guitars/mics/plug-ins. My computer is old and I want to use my hardware units...
Thanks for your explanation. Could you maybe explain me how I can fix the following problem. When I record my synth in ableton with a midi and audio track I dont hear anything in my midi channel when listening after recording. However it does show me midi notes but there is no sound. Do you have any idea what this could be? I checked all settings catefully.
I can't connect the DeepMind Desktop to a midi keyboard because they both have same USB type B sockets- I tried a USB D shape to D shape male to male cable but get nothing?!?
Some great tips here thankyou! Im really stuck.... I'm on PC using Cubase and have my deepmind 6 hooked up via usb. I want to use the deepmind app at the same time but it just wont connect if my DAW is open?

are recording onto a "Instrument track" or stereo "Audio" track? also is the audio going in from DM12 through USB and not going in through the interface?
Hi I am not new to MIDI but I can’t get my DeepMind 12d to do what I want. How should I setup the arp so it waits for the start from my DAW (Studio one) like a drum machine would do. Thanks for your help.
Is it possible to use my Deepmind 12 simply as a midi keyboard? I have a Nord Stage 3 and in some songs I'd like to use the Nord's sounds in an external keyboard. Can I use my Deepmind keyboard that way?
Quick question, that may be obvious. Im gonna be getting my first hardware synth. What im wondering is how do you quantize your playing, if you're recording the audio into your interface? I want to record the sounds of the hardware synth, but I still want to be able to quantize it, since im not the greatest player. I'm using Ableton Live 10. Any tips? idk if there is a way to record a midi version of your playing WITH the sounds of the hardware.
While you are able to quantize audio in Ableton Live this might not work with all types of sound and may also introduce audible artifacts. Best method: Record only the MIDI notes to a MIDI track. If you play this back Ableton Live will play the notes on your synth. Now you have the freedom to edit and quantize the MIDI notes. Once you are happy with the result, record the audio to a separate track and mute or delete the MIDI track.
Hi, I have a similar issue where I hear the synth from my headphones out of my interface and it sounds phasey like it has effects on it. But when I hear it out of the headphone out of the synth it sounds clean and like it should sound. I have the e desktop module version of the Deepmind so not sure how that effects what I am doing? Because the menus are different. If you can help that would be great. Thanks
How do you do this for the Behringer TD-3 (turn local off)? I'm using Live 10, have the "Clock Source" set to "MIDI USB" in the Synth Tool so that the patterns sync with Live's tempo, then using the "External Instrument" in Live with "MIDI To" set to the TD-3 and "Audio From" set to my sound card input I connected the TD-3 to
