I want to learn sign language although I don't know anyone who's deaf but I'm going to be a nurse soon so I want to communicate to everyone and not a lot of people working on hospital like nurses, doctors etc. Who should know how to sign. 1 or even none knows about signing, I've saw one incident when there's a deaf little girl and she couldn't understand anyone because no one in that clinic knows how to communicate with her and at that point I wanted to learn ASL.
i wanna learn for 2 reasons one just to know and 2 when i turn 17 i wanna apply to work as a salesperson at victoria's secret but you have to be 18 so i wanna make them be lke oh she know's sign that's good for the customers who are deaf let's hire her sounds silly but might work
@@zena6565 Just so you know, companies often don't hire people who are under 18 because the labor laws for minors are stricter and more complicated than they are for people who are of age. And for a big chain like Victoria's Secret, individual stores aren't in a position to make exceptions to those policies - they won't have the right paperwork available in order to hire you and make sure your tax stuff is set up correctly. It's not that they think 17-year-olds don't have the maturity or the right skills - they legally can't hire them. That said, knowing more than one language, including ASL, is definitely valuable and will look good on your application. And if they think you're a good fit they might keep you in mind to hire on once you're 18. (If this is a reference to something I'm not getting, ignore me lmao I'm old)

You could still do sign language if you don't like to talk, but the hearing aids could help too I'm just saying.
We have a new kid at my school who's deaf. He's very nice. Everyone treats him like an outsider and avoid him. Even though he has an interpreter, my friend and I are learning sign language so he doesn't feel excluded. Yesterday, my friend and I greeted him in sign language. I told him I wanted to learn. I'm thankful videos like this are easily accessible so others like my friend and I can learn easily and quickly, so the new kid can fit in and feel comfortable. Thank you!
I'm so scared I'm going to start learning ASL and just by using the wrong finger because I forgot, I might end up signing a completely different sentence and confuse people XD
I live in an apartment complex with a lot of deaf and hard hearing people that I run into at the pool, I can finally make conversation with them. Thank you so much for all your videos. You are really awesome
Thank you for making these videos and posting them for free!! You are really making a difference! I have wanted to learn how to sign my whole life, and have finally decided to do it now. I wouldn't be able to if it weren't for people like you. May God bless you richly!
I've been wanting to learn sign for the longest time and here recently I have made a friend that is deaf and he made me wanna learn more and this video REALLY helped me thank you so much!!
My job rn is to check people in and literally just sit here until they are done with what they need to do. So here I am trying to learn and I think I’m doing an good job. Thank you so much for these videos cause I do deal with the deaf community from time to time and always feel so bad that I don’t know any. Thank you thank you thank you
You are a good teacher I really really hope you make more my sister is deaf my nephew also and I am trying to learn I watch a lot of UA-cam and these are probably the best videos I found please make more :)
I work at a front counter serving the public, and there have been multiple times over the last year that knowing basic ASL has helped me make a deaf citizen feel much more welcomed. Thanks for helping me learn more and freshen up the things I learned years ago! Everyone should learn ASL.
My mom: What in the world are you doing? Me: -signing to be quiet at her- My mom: Why is there a candle lit by your bed. Me: TRUST THE PROCESS! I'M LEARNING
I like the way you use sentences. I learned ASL for my co-workers. That was 45 years ago. When I left that workplace in 78 they all said I would forget ASL. Then I moved to England 28 years ago and have not used it in that time. I am amazed at how much I have retained. My wife now wants to learn ASL so I am teaching her. When my sister saw me practicing ASL those many years ago, she became an interpreter Thanks for the lessons they really help.
I’m a deaf person living in the UK, I grew up learning British Sign Language (BSL). I have a road trip in America this autumn, hence I’m here learning ASL! You never know who you’ll meet 😊 P.S: there are some similarities in signing but the words are different! It’s confusing for me, but I’ll get there!
Hi,im a mother of three and single parent now,my youngest daughter is a deaf and we cant understand her often, one special good friend pushing me to teach my two daughters and me as well to learn sign language to understand my little jacky.after we watched this video,i noticed them that they enjoyed learning from it. I realized big time that we need to learn too for my baby jacky.thank you for this video and its really apprecieted.more power and God bless you👍
i just want to say your mouthing of words is pretty good!! i kept wanting to turn up the volume on my phone a number of times, to hear you better lol Thanks for the video your facial expression and warm smile speaks louder than the best speakers out there! keep at it!
I am so glad to see your vlog! I love when you just naturally use whole sentences because I am trying to get used to ASL sentence structure. Thank you for the video!
This video taught me how to sign. I have not tried with anyone yet but I am exited when I get the opportunity to try. This women is a great teacher when it comes to sign language.
I absolutely love this channel I have been fascinated in asl ever since I watched switched at birth and every app or channel I watched wasn't that helpful until I found this one. I love learning to sign. Also because I have a deaf friend that I met 2 days ago and I really want to be able to communicate with her better.
I work at a bank and we have a deaf customer who has started coming regularly and I’d like to be able to communicate in a way that is more accessible to her. Thank you for these videos!💙
I love sign language its a beautiful thing to watch and learn! This is very helpful because my neighbor is deaf and only does sign. So, i am very excited to learn!! :)
I am hard of hearing n have a level 2 in signing but I love to go over and relearn on your videos it helps as i am not around others who sign so is easy to relax n forget Thank You
Hi Ashley. I want to thank you for your videos. I just started taking an ASL class and I need a lot of practice, so my friend suggested that i check UA-cam, and I found you!
OMG thank you SO much for these videos! I work at a gas station and get regular customers who are deaf and no one else in staff can communicate with them. They have shown me a few sentences, like "have a nice day/night" and "merry christmas" but now with the help of your videos I can "talk" to them better!! THANK YOU!
I watch this anime titled . A silent voice . That's why I want to learn sign language. We live in same world. But we live a different life. I put my headset on .. and I wonder why no voices 😂 then just realize what I'm watching 😂 it help a lot ❤ and it's easy to learn . The bad thing is different country different sign language .. I love your video ❤
I work in a grocery store and occasionally an older deaf man will come shopping. I knew a little bit of ASL from back in middle school and was able to just barely communicate with him (and he seemed very happy for my attempt, even if it was just basic signs like asking "are you deaf") so I figured I'd use this opportunity to brush up on my ASL and fully learn it this time around. Thank you so much for these videos!
I'm 61, just retired, not deaf, but have always been intrigued with ASL. Thanks to you and your videos, I've decided to enroll in ASL classes at a local community college which starts tomorrow with the goal of getting my Certificate in one year. Thank you!
I work as a receptionist at a clinic, and the other day a deaf lady walked in trying to set up an appointment. I was upset I couldn't communicate, so I decided to learn some basic signs before she comes back that way I can at least say hey, have a good day, or how are you feeling. I am glad I found your videos they are very helpful
Hi! I'm half deaf (deaf in one ear), always wanted to learn sign language, but have never found the right place to. I'm a teenager towards the younger to middle side, so I can't really afford classes and I'm trying to keep it on the down-low. I have a friend who signs and I may ask him about it but for right now I just use videos and these are the most helpful I've come across and have learned the signs quickly and easily. Thank you so much, your hard work and dedication to this channel is very much appreciated.
I’m becoming hard-of-hearing so I’m trying to learn ASL before I go to my Hearing appt on Monday and I wanna be able to talk to the staff a little since most are HoH or deaf
These videos are such a big help, Im not deaf but I just recently started learning sign language and I do it almost every night before bed. Hopefully I can be really good at it and be able to communicate better with people who are deaf or hard of hearing! Thanks!
None of my friends know sign language so I thought it’d be helpful to learn just in case we run into anyone who can’t hear again. I felt so bad last time I went to a convention and I couldn’t communicate with someone whatsoever. At least I’ll be able to say hi and introduce myself.
I'm a selective mute, and love when I see these videos because they aren't aimed specifically towards certain people, my friends are learning sign so we can talk without a notebook and it's awesome
My Grandma is losing her tongue to cancer, and we are learning sign to your videos. You are an excellent teacher! Thank you for helping us go through this journey together!
I wanted to learn sign ASL because my family just found out one of my brothers are deaf. They say earring aids might help but we will need to learn ASL. It's 2:03Am here and I really want to get better at it for him so I can talk to my brother.
Recently stumbled across this channel cause i work at amazon and theres 3 awesome associates that are deaf/hard hearing and im watching your videos to help communicate with them, mainly to make their lives easier. Also it give me a sense of accomplishment by actually signing with them
i've recently been watching switched at birth and sometimes they don't put what they're signing and they said something about taking time to learn to sign for deaf people so yeah lol
these videos are so incredible! I work in a pharmacy and have around 8 patients who are deaf. I've purchased books and am trying to teach myself ASL so that I can better help them. plus I thought it might bring a smile to their faces if one-day they walk in and don't have to write everything down to communicate. It's difficult to cover all of their needs and make sure they are getting the best care when we can't fully communicate. you are a wonderful teacher and I can't express enough how much I really appreciate your instruction!
Sign language is so fascinating to me, I love the show "switched at birth" which has sign language in it. And I want to learn some, kinda as my second language. :)
I hear that! I started learning when I was eight, and I remember being simply captivated, fascinated by all the different movements I saw. The only thing that stuck in my brain was the alphabet, but since I never used it, I forgot a few letters over the years, happy to see a poster here and there every so often, that showed me what I was forgetting.
Thank you!! This is the best ASL teaching video I have come across so far. I've wanted to learn sign for a long time, but don't have the time or money for traditional classes. Please keep posting!
hi ashley. thanks for your videos. it's really helps me to understand. by the way im a filipino but we have almost same sign language. sorry for my english. :)
I’m not deaf nor do I know anyone deaf/mute, but I’ve always found it fascinating how sign language works and how you learn this whole other language to communicate with. So I finally decided I wanted to learn more (I know basic sign language but forgot a lot of it), just in case I ever do run into someone who might be deaf or mute.
Your videos are so good!! I’m learning for a deaf guy at my workplace. He’s so happy when I sign even if I mess up and forget he just gets so excited when I do! Only 2 other people at my workplace know asl and I’m learning slowly!
I dont know how this came up on my thread. But I am so happy it did. I dont know anyone that is deaf or hard of hearing. This has to be the most useful thing to learn on UA-cam. I'm so glad you made this instruction video. You have a new subscriber and follower. I never thought to look up something like sign language. Wow. I'm totally stoked about learning. Keep the videos coming.
This is truly amazing. I’m a C.O.D.A. Youngest of three but the other two weren’t around like that but I learn sign language by my watching my parents and when I got older I wasn’t home much so now I do a lot of home signs and I want to change that. Have a real conversation with my parents. What your doing is amazing 🙌🏼🖐🏼🤚🏼.🤟🏻
Ashley, I am so grateful for you! I moved to a state with a beautiful deaf community and as a hairstylist your videos have been really helpful to talk to my clients and give them proper consultations! I have a lot to learn, but now I can tell them I am learning to sign, I know a little and I am slow at signing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
i’m here after watching Netflix’s Dark and watching Elizabeth Doppler talk with hand-sign language, and then i suddenly remembered about my deaf friend that already died a long time ago, she has no friend to talk with because we as a kid can’t understand hand-sign language. and then 3 years later, i came here to learn about sign language so maybe, if i have a deaf friend again, i can understand their language and they will understand me too, so we can play together and be friends :) thx for helping me a lot :))
YAY!! :D Thanks!! So glad you liked this video!! More coming soon!! I'm on Instagram too :) I post almost everyday- @SignedWithHeart And you're awesome too!! :D
I always wanted to learn sing language even though I did not know any one who signed . I started to work in transit and this was my opportunity to learn and communicate with persons that sign . Tried other sites but they were to fast or vague and could not learn it ,until you came along .I know it is a lot to remember but I Am doing it one word at a time also the smiles I get in return make it all worthwhile . Thank so very much
For "no problem" wouldn't you sign "none problem" instead of the literal "no" and "problem"? The way you signed it seems more like English grammar rather than ASL
That's another way you can sign "no problem" ("none problem") but honestly, I personally think that is still English. American Sign Language is not completely free from English. "How you?" is still English even if "are" is dropped. "How are you?", "Have a good day", "No problem" - from my point of view (as a born-Deaf bilingual), these phrases are English- or what English speaking people would say. We live in a hearing world- so it's natural that some of us incorporate “hearing” (English) into our signing. By the way, signing “fine” and “it was nothing” (two F handshapes) are a couple of different ASL ways you could sign in response to “thank you” instead of “no problem”. Hope this helps!! :)
I'm so glad you are here to show proper ASL!!! I think being deaf and teaching it to us is such a blessing. I've learned quite a bit in these past few weeks. Mostly, from you. YOU DO A GREAT JOB!
Hi! Love the videos so far, I am learning so much, thank you! Got a quick question though. Why are you signing "where are you from?" as "You from where?". Does it matter in which order you start off your sentence? In other words can you sign it as you actually say it out loud? So it would be "where are you from?" So where finger waving, then point to you, and then from sign. Thank you for your help!
@Tyler Deatherage @Ashley Stacy I know this was five months ago, but I would still like to reply! Like any other language, ASL has its own grammar structure! You basically sign the most important words first, and the rest of them follow. It's like french! If you were going to say, "the blue shirt," you would actually say, "the shirt blue" (in french). I still don't completely understand ASL either, but that's why I'm here! I hope this makes sense!
I want to learn sign language to help anyone who starts at my school that could be deaf or hard-of-hearing. I am currently writing all the signs down so I can teach my friends how to sign for anyone. Thank you so much for teaching this and helping me possibly help someone else!
Wow 😀 awesome.. acctually I'm Not a Deaf But I wan't to learn Sign Language co'z i'm tired to speak .. hahahhaa but it's okay.. anyone want's to know it just like me..
Hahahahaha same here! I speak better with my hands anyway. Whether it be through writing or through ASL, I just find it easier to speak through my hands. I can speak aloud, I'm not deaf, but it's very frustrating, having to speak up, for both my parents and other family members, or repeat myself for others.
I was friends with this girl from school and we were in a few of the same classes from 8-9th grade. she was deaf and her asl teacher really liked me because I would always try to help the girl. it’s been almost 2 years and they’ve both inspired me to start learning asl seriously now.
I started learning again about 2 months ago after helping some customers who were deaf. I haven't missed a single day of learning asl since then. I'm so proud that I kept going. Asl is amazing
I'm a licensed hairstylist, and I work in Talladega Alabama near the Alabama School for The Deaf and Blind, I have a lot of clients that come into the salon and I would love to be able to communicate with them better. I know some basic ASL and your videos have really helped me practice my ASL. If you have time could you do a video with ASL hair terms, so I will be able to better serve my clients by communication with ASL, if you can't post one I understand but I have a salon full of women who want to learn and we live in a thriving town filled with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and we want to be able to better serve them in the salon. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work and please continue to post videos! Your videos are the most helpful ones out there! Thank you and much love !
are you born deaf or a hard hearing or just learned it :L im learning from watching switched at birth and im going to work and translate with the deaf people
We have a deaf student in my grade level so were learning sign, and i feel the teachers wont teach us well, so this has already helped me understand the basic signs.
I love these videos.... but I can't learn without words being said =( it stinks. it just isnt sinking in like the ones im also watching that have audio
my son is autistic (and verbal) but gets easily overwhelmed by people talking to him. I'm hoping signing will help so I'm watching and learning. Thanks for posting these - you're great!

EDIT: I hope you never stop making videos you are soooooo gooood at signing but have you ever thought of getting hearing aids?
Same!!!
yeah im scared of that to and like im trying to learn Spanish but i probably wont ever speak to a native speaker because i'm just to scared
@@foxonfire9131 trust me we are usually very understanding to people who are learning spanish and may even help you!
Yeah
I’m afraid I’ll try and say something like ‘hi’ and somehow end up saying something offensive
@@victoriasanchez8660 hello beautiful 😘 you love
I live in an apartment complex with a lot of deaf and hard hearing people that I run into at the pool, I can finally make conversation with them. Thank you so much for all your videos. You are really awesome
Thank you for making these videos and posting them for free!! You are really making a difference! I have wanted to learn how to sign my whole life, and have finally decided to do it now. I wouldn't be able to if it weren't for people like you. May God bless you richly!
You’re so sweet!! Thank you for your comment!!
Ashley Clark Fry 👍😊
I’m going to watch a bunch of your videos just to get them recomended for a reminder that I should learn another means of communication.
:)
When my sister saw me practicing ASL those many years ago, she became an interpreter
Thanks for the lessons they really help.
*when you turn up the volume expecting to hear something*
*Then realizing it's supposed to be silent*

I’m a deaf person living in the UK, I grew up learning British Sign Language (BSL). I have a road trip in America this autumn, hence I’m here learning ASL! You never know who you’ll meet 😊 P.S: there are some similarities in signing but the words are different! It’s confusing for me, but I’ll get there!
Holy crap that intro, you look like a pro spell caster. I’m so gonna learn this ASL
Hi,im a mother of three and single parent now,my youngest daughter is a deaf and we cant understand her often, one special good friend pushing me to teach my two daughters and me as well to learn sign language to understand my little jacky.after we watched this video,i noticed them that they enjoyed learning from it. I really enjoyed this video. My son is deaf and im learning everyday with him. Bein new to the deaf community has brought us closer.
My brother was deaf, and then he died. I never met him, so I am learning sign language to feel more connected to him!
Good luck
@@lushsilver Thank you!
I am hard of hearing n have a level 2 in signing but I love to go over and relearn on your videos it helps as i am not around others who sign so is easy to relax n forget Thank You

Im so excited. thank you

Me too :D
Im here because the anime Silent Voice too
me too :)
Same, I saw that movie and thought it would be cool to learn.
THATS WHY IM HERE. ITS 4:38 AND OVE CONVINCED MYSELF THAT I NEED TO LEARN SIGN LANGUAGE
Yay! I love learning from you here and on Instagram. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us. :)
YAY!! :D So happy to hear that!! Thank you for taking the time to let me know!!
Michelle Hello beautiful 😘 you
I'm 61, just retired, not deaf, but have always been intrigued with ASL. Thanks to you and your videos, I've decided to enroll in ASL classes at a local community college which starts tomorrow with the goal of getting my Certificate in one year. Thank you!
Everyone is asleep... This is a perfect thing to watch without having to worry about volume. :D
Furthest Traveler same here!!😂
you can watch anything without volume thanks to subtitles
I work as a receptionist at a clinic, and the other day a deaf lady walked in trying to set up an appointment. I was upset I couldn't communicate, so I decided to learn some basic signs before she comes back that way I can at least say hey, have a good day, or how are you feeling. I am glad I found your videos they are very helpful
thx so much i I have a step sister who is deaf and I'm trying to learn...🙃
I hope your appointment went well!
You make it seem so easy, a great video it's, keep up the good work. Much Love.
That’s so sweet of you! I hope your brother is doing well.
Recently stumbled across this channel cause i work at amazon and theres 3 awesome associates that are deaf/hard hearing and im watching your videos to help communicate with them, mainly to make their lives easier. Also it give me a sense of accomplishment by actually signing with them
I'm learning this language for my love who can't speak and hear
I don't know anyone that is deaf. But learning something new is fantastic, I've been learning at my own pace ya never too old to learn
yay, I was so excited when I saw the update

these videos are so incredible!
Space Hello beautiful 😘 you

Your English is fine. Don't worry about it. :)
same, hello po! :D
I lost my voice recently so I think I might need to communicate a little bit in basic sign for a few days so this is really helpful!
Your videos are so good!! I’m learning for a deaf guy at my workplace. He’s so happy when I sign even if I mess up and forget he just gets so excited when I do! Only 2 other people at my workplace know asl and I’m learning slowly!
By watching this i learned how to say
Hello my name is laylaa
Im learning sign language
Please finger spell
In asl...its quit easy
Do you know numbers and alphabet yet so easy once you get the hangoglf it
I dont know how this came up on my thread.
When you try to turn the volume all the way up to try and listen. 😂
I can't wait to confuse my friends with his! XD
i do that.... XD and during golf matches we cant talk to our parents so i was signing to my dad.... he was confused XD
I’m not allowed to talk at lunch in school so I just sign to my friend because we both know sign language

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
please make more
honestly super helpful thank you
i’m here after watching Netflix’s Dark and watching Elizabeth Doppler talk with hand-sign language, and then i suddenly remembered about my deaf friend that already died a long time ago, she has no friend to talk with because we as a kid can’t understand hand-sign language. and then 3 years later, i came here to learn about sign language so maybe, if i have a deaf friend again, i can understand their language and they will understand me too, so we can play together and be friends :)
thx for helping me a lot :))
yes!!!! you are awesome! please moreeee
YAY!!
Oh I didn't know that! Thanks for clearing that up!!
so, what you're saying is that words like connectors, the ones you write in parenthesis are implied when signing? you don't really have to sig them?
Alejandra Plata No, you dont. From what I understand, at least.
Coming to say oh my God
Tyler Deatherage I was confused about that too
@Tyler Deatherage
@Ashley Stacy
I know this was five months ago, but I would still like to reply!
SerpentStrike Thanks for the explanation!! That makes a lot more sense now
I want to learn sign language to help anyone who starts at my school that could be deaf or hard-of-hearing.
Switched at birth brought me here.

Cat2289 AJ I believe she has said that she was born deaf.
We have a deaf student in my grade level so were learning sign, and i feel the teachers wont teach us well, so this has already helped me understand the basic signs.
I love these videos.... but I can't learn without words being said =( it stinks. it just isnt sinking in like the ones im also watching that have audio
If you can speak, try repeating the signs aloud as you repeat after her.
my son is autistic (and verbal) but gets easily overwhelmed by people talking to him. I'm hoping signing will help so I'm watching and learning. Thanks for posting these - you're great!
