I like your swinging version. I especially enjoyed watching your bassist transitioninhg from 1st thru 3rd and 4th positions, and his solosent chills up and down my spine. I, too, play upright but am nowhere near his league.
Uncanny. My dad, Jimmy Gross, played this song at the Chautauqua-related Methodist Campground several times back in the 50s thru 90s. Very different (his banjo blew up at the end). He'd have loved your rendition as much as I did!
quel orchestre ! j'adore, et j'ai découvert Dan Block: super choruses à la clarinette: je voudrais bien savoir jouer comme lui: belles phrases...et du swing !.... Bravissimo.
Marty Grosz tunes his guitar BbFCGBD which originates from plectrum banjo tuning during the banjo craze of the 1920s Jazz Age. Carl Kress used a similar tuning with fifths on the bottom four to give it a distinct deep and resonant sound - that low Bb works wonders for comping in flat keys. Minor thirds up top(B, D) allows you to extend a chord with your pinky easily and he uses that technique a lot here.
Hi to All”- who wants Amps , & modern technology , when you have guys who are good musicians ‘ who can walk on stage & play like this , playing their instruments as they should be ! , - a nice change I would say . Can ‘ critics do much Better .? I doubt it - cheers to All .
Absolutely brilliant. This is the first time I've encountered Marty Grosz, and how wonderful a guitarist, musician, and stern bandleader!
Can't get much better than that!!! I especially loved the clarinet solo.

Why does it have to end? I could listen to that clarinet and cornet duet until the end of time. Fantastic stuff.
Dan Block, way to play that licorice stick! Loved your solo! And here I thought I only liked Allan Vache. I must keep an open mind yes?! Good stuff!

Maybe a modern resurgence in carved 16” archtops about to happen any minute! Played thusly.
Merely wonderful. And Migos, or whatever their stupid name is, is the biggest whatever in the world. Yes, the world is waiting for the sunrise.
Is that a loar???
A Gibson L5 from the late 20s or early 30s. A very fine instrument in the hands of a very fine musician.
