- Beauty, so rare. A tribute to the worlds Louis created, imagined and reimagined by Jon-Erik Kellso, Bob Havens, Scott Robinson, John Sheridan, Kerry Lewis, Pete Siers. Recorded on September 23, 2012, by Michael Steinman for JAZZ LIVES (www.jazzlives.wordpress.com) at the memorable and missed Jazz at Chautauqua.
How fortunate we are to have this great band to keep this original and great American music alive! Thank you, John and the group!
The 'Particle Accelerator' has a lovely sound!
It really is beauty so rare. Jon Erik Kellso is a phenomenal musician, The rest of the band is outstanding also,,,making these tunes sound as good as they have ever sounded. I can still remember my mother, Frances Melrose, singing this tune. I wish she was here to hear this!!!
Just so beautiful, thank you so much from Australia.
My copy of this classic is by Muggsy Spanier on an old 78 record purchased as a schoolboy in the late 1940's. It's listed as written by Venables and Armstrong. Playing were Muggsy, Brunis, Classic, McKinstry, Zack, Carey, Pattinson and Greenburg. Recorded Chicago 7/7/39
For Classic read Rodney Cless
I.love.Bob.Havens.
He is legend.
I heard these guys with Vince Giordano for the first time. Unbelievable talent.
funny, i only learned of Kellso and Robinson by hearing them play with the great Joan Chamorro band in Barcelona, in Catalunya....fabulous.....
Thé great Bob Havens on trombone. Played for !Lawrence Welk’s band for years. In his heyday, on the top of the heap. He once played one oneTeagarden’s « codas » with embellishments. Totally amazing and inspiring trombonist.Nice to hear him again.
His solo reminded me of Teagarden with the nice turns etc.
LEGEND!

Just a delight. Great memories. Dad had the original 10" of this with Louis's Hot Seven from about 1928..I think.

It's a taragato
👏👏💥💥🎺
0:10 seconds he’s right Satchmo pronounced his name as “Lewis” not “Louie” as people seem to always say.
What witty comments from Scott Robinson!
What is the name of the Hungarian instrument
