  • Why is the bombil also known as Bombay duck? One explanation is that during British occupation, the dried fish stank up the dak - or mail train - that carried it. The fragrant dish gained a cult following in England… until it was temporarily banned by European authorities over hygiene concerns. 🙄🤬

    It's a dried fish... It tastes so good. Here in konkan region in Maharashtra it is a part of day to day meal. for beginners it might be creepy as it doesn't smell good
    ..But many dried fishes have thier own unique taste 😋

    From when did the British people who came to India as traders and eventually ended up becoming rulers by using guile and wickedness become choosers to ban edible items, like Bombay ducks ( bombil machchli ) and that too when most of their very own people like to eat the fish. I somehow can't digest the idea. These people still are disgustingly mean and opportunistic.
    That sounds ridiculous.

      @@vjab1108 Why can’t we get it now then? UK has left the EU yet still no Bombay duck in Indian restaurants
