I just disagree that Sidney is not the mains character in 3. Yes, she has less screen time than in 1, 2 and 4 due to some behind the scenes shenanigans, but once she decides to go out of hiding she gradually takes the focus back and the final act (a quite long one) is all about her. Gale and Dewey hold the movie for quite some time, yeah, but when Sidney steps in it's all about her again. Also, the killer's motivation is about her again, more so than in the previous ones. So it's not just about how long her screen time is, it's also about what's the nature of her role in the story. Compare to 5 where Sam is the focus and Sidney, very late into the movie, just decide to step in to hunt the new killers, but wasn't even in their target list to begin with. She was therebut the story wasn't about her. She doesn't even kill either of the Ghostfaces. 5 is the one she isn't the protagonist anymore.

The beginning I knew the guys voice too, I was so excited. Thought it was the killers side. God I was so excited till the next scene, I knew it when he got home they just were going to be like, just kiddddinggggg we’re doing the same shit as last year
All of it. I kept going back to google thinking I watched it already, scream 4 at least started a new story… I wish Kirby had more of a reason for coming back, are they wanting us to think the main girl hears more than her late dad in her ear? Was the therapist just to have someone not in the main cast to die? Do they want to set up that she “isn’t hearing anyone else I shouldn’t be” the fact that she liked it? We’re they just wanting to play on riverdales serial killer 🧬? This new final girl DID NOT get the memo on the satire that is scream….
The first half hour of this movie I thought it was going to do a fresh view on the killers side of things. Would have be awesome. Had a online crew of killers but the main one we might not know who it is (simulator to Pretty little liars). Wish it gave us like a different modern take. A good remake of what 3 wanted to do….
I'll always love 3 just for Parkey Posey saying "my Gale Weathers would do this and that" to real Gale's face. But the intro and the entire final act are great too. The weird one of the series, sure, but a delight anyway.
Protagonists now in college. Killer(s) are family of and out for revenge for previous movie's killer. It's just 2 again. BUT! The new protagonist is weaker and no one of the core characters die. Just a worse version of 2 for me. And yet this thing is apparently getting a lot of praise because "Ghostface has never been so brutal".
I felt like I watched it. Felt like they could have wrapped up the OGs last movie…I don’t know. I hate it. Are they wanting the last girls to become the killers next? Like what’s the plan here…
But a better writer did 1 and 2 But also having a year doesn’t mean it’s gonna b a bad script. Just that not enough has changed in cinema for them to critique something new that feels like it’s ripe for satire , which 5 nailed, at least imo.
I don't think it was bad but it wasn't great either. On second watch it felt like we were intentionally supposed to know officer bailey was the killer because of how obvious it was. Also after every kill we get a scene with bailey coming in making smart remarks about the killings. I thought that was cool I give it a 3.5 out of 5 for scream 6 the stabbings weren't that Gorey like 5 was.
Subway scene needed chase scene and someone thrown into a train And it would have been cool to see Angelina listed next to Roman And Kirby say they found her dead body turns out Roman turned on her and they were working together Evidence showed her dna Would have wrapped up Angelina theory Also the ladder scene … how did he just happen to have that ? I don’t hate any Scream movies. But this is the 2nd weakest entry in the series. The Ghostface reveal was lame. Worst of the series. The final act went off the rails. Gale was pointless. Mindy is insufferable. The core 4 is even more unlikable than before.
Yeh that’s the best way to put it. I agree. I couldn’t hate a Scream movie. The franchise and Ghostface is just so great . But it’s defs on that low tier level. 2nd worst to worst fo sho I reckon I’ll change my opinion yearly but they both are the bottom of the barrel
Watching Dewey's character was just as painful as witnessing what Kathleen Kennedy (Star Wars 🤡) allowed to happen to both Han Solo & Like Skywalker. *Oh, but a few 5 feet / 105 pound chicks can run through people like Jason Voorhees hu. 😂
And Laura, Jason, Greg, bathtub guy, 3 guys in the Bodega, the therapist, and Gail's boyfriend. We just didn't get to see them or we didn't care about the rest. That's my biggest complaint.
@@Melody-bourbonite4life idk who is greg and jason, bathtub guy was also a ghostface. yes i didn't include the opening Laura kill because everyone knew she was gonna die when the trailer came out.

I did like the motive it was understandable. Same as 2. Something about this film got me bored watching it. I was hoping for something close to the 1&2 with phones calls at the house and chase scenes. Ghostface was visible too much. I don’t know about this one.
@@Hellstothenaw hahah same. But I loved 5 which made 6 hurt even more. If your not a fan of either this is really turning into a Star Wars sequel trilogy situation for you.
It's actually more like 3 in my opinion. Killer dies yet turns out to be the killer and if you watched the previous movies McDermott was outed before he ever showed up. 3rd killer was a surprise but I did notice when they mentioned Roman he had a look on his face like I'm doing something different
Ghostface’s line “I’m something different” wasn’t even in the movie. And that’s the line everyone recognizes and knows from the trailer. It was ridiculous. There also was no mention of a Stab the musical or anything. And the nyc setting was underutilized. I was disappointed
I'll probably skip this one. I'm a huge fan of the original 3 (Scream 4 I have mixed feelings about but there's lots to love about it). And yeah Scream 3 is pretty bad compared to 1 and 2 but I did think the ending was solid, and well earned. For me it would be better if it was just a trilogy, end it at 3. Wes Craven / Kevin Williamson proved you could create something fresh and new in an incredibly stale genre, but now they've taken that idea to the point where it also feels stale now. And commenting on that fact in the writing doesn't help anything, just seems lazy. Anyways, very entertaining take. I look forward to checking out more of your reviews, keep up the good work!
@@sketchtheparadigmyork1217 I think I'm allowed to criticize the franchise as a whole. It has gotten progressively worse with each entry (I actually would put 1 and 2 as almost equal). But really what more does the franchise have to say that's truly original? I don't criticize people who just enjoy horror and want to have a good time at the theater, that's one thing. But let's be real, this is just more of the same... again. And again.
I did see 5 and I did think it was pretty scary and well done. But I have to admit toward the end I watched in fast forward mode as I got a little bored. I didn't think the new characters were interesting. And I'm one of those a-holes who can't get past a 4 foot nothing girl lifting a grown man off the ground with two blades. I’m not getting the people disappointed with this movie. Seems like a fracturing fan base to me. Like it makes sense for the requel to be “scream 2”. And the STILL complaining about scream being called scream…. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s just not. It’s the title not the movie. It’s just not something that affects the actual movie at all. I thought 6 was significantly better than 5 which was uneven in pacing. But it’s not like scream 2 on every way. Just bc it has elements. The killer is a parent ok. But it is NOT just scream 2.
You guys nitpick way too much! "fans" that are never satisfied ... Scream 6 WAS GREAT!!
The entire point of the scream franchise is nitpicking and deconstructing horror movies and tropes. Usually the scream films do it for us which is why they are so genius and loved by the fans. Absolutely insane to me that fans are getting upset at people critiquing this movie when that is the basis of the entire franchise and is important with the way this series is developed
While the franchise has always poked fun at the fans, the main villain of the series has always been Hollywood tropes and the defense of bad writing. Very sad we’ve reached this point where fans are blatantly defending what the series used to fight against
It’s the fans who don’t want the franchise to adapt that didn’t like this movie. Probably really just upset Sidney isn’t it it, and that it turned out to be good without her.

Had a online crew of killers but the main one we might not know who it is (simulator to Pretty little liars). Wish it gave us like a different modern take. A good remake of what 3 wanted to do….
Yeh I think that would have been such a great way to refresh and reinvent the franchise
Such a shame it didn’t go that way
I'll always love 3 just for Parkey Posey saying "my Gale Weathers would do this and that" to real Gale's face.
Like what’s the plan here…
Hmmm yeh that could be the plan, but I doubt they will really commit to that, probs another fake out like the start of this movie
There was less than a year between 1 and 2.
And ? Same with scream and scream 2
@@Josiah_leaton That's what I said.
But a better writer did 1 and 2
But also having a year doesn’t mean it’s gonna b a bad script. Just that not enough has changed in cinema for them to critique something new that feels like it’s ripe for satire , which 5 nailed, at least imo.
@@Josiah_leaton and they both sucked
Great review finally someone honest about fake randy
I don't think it was bad but it wasn't great either. On second watch it felt like we were intentionally supposed to know officer bailey was the killer because of how obvious it was.
Also after every kill we get a scene with bailey coming in making smart remarks about the killings. I thought that was cool I give it a 3.5 out of 5 for scream 6 the stabbings weren't that Gorey like 5 was.
Subway scene needed chase scene and someone thrown into a train
And it would have been cool to see Angelina listed next to Roman
And Kirby say they found her dead body turns out Roman turned on her and they were working together
Evidence showed her dna
Would have wrapped up Angelina theory
Also the ladder scene … how did he just happen to have that ? Lol
And the shrine
How did richies family get all that ??? Can’t say his dads a cop
He’s a cop in New York not Cali?
I love scream but I really should write for them
Lol I also had that thought with the ladder. Didn’t feel like a thing you would need in an apartment building?
Maybe he has high ceilings and needs one to change lightbulbs?
@@SpaceKrakenMedia 😂😂😂 right???
Angelina is not a Killer
Well by not having Angelina listed, that should wrap up the theory.
His dad transferred to New York after Richie's death. Never said where he transferred from.
Dude, you could've been the new Randy in Scream VI. Damn, you're good. :)
Thnx ! the ultimate compliment for an insufferable film nerd like myself ! Unless you are saying I’m as bad as new randy then ouch! got me. 😂
2nd worst to worst fo sho
I reckon I’ll change my opinion yearly but they both are the bottom of the barrel
@@SpaceKrakenMedia It’s a great franchise. Maybe I’m nitpicking but 6 was a letdown for me. Great analysis though, sir.
Want me to blow ur mind? There is a CLERKS poster in the first scream at the video store!
🤯
Watching Dewey's character was just as painful as witnessing what Kathleen Kennedy (Star Wars 🤡) allowed to happen to both Han Solo & Like Skywalker. *Oh, but a few 5 feet / 105 pound chicks can run through people like Jason Voorhees hu. 😂
the movie was great, the only thing is that there was no kills except from Annika and the ghostfaces.
@meishot00 Jason was the guy that killed Laura. Greg was his roommate who was cut up in the fridge, and the bathtub guy was Quinn's hookup that was butchered in the tub when she faked her death.
Well in my opinion I think the characters were really good personally scream six “sad dad” did it way better than Mrs. Loomis we all have our own opinions but how dare you compare this movie to scream three💀
Yeh that’s pre fair, I do feel dirty for the comparison, very rude to say this bad film is on the same level as the underrated Scream 3.
yea and people are shitting on me for saying the movie was ok not good
Super cringe super cheesy movie
Great video haha. Listened to this out loud, on the speaker, at work. I hated the reveal. But I think it might be a better watch at home. Shame, I really liked part 5.
😂😂 amazing but also Please apologies to all your work mates on my behalf for you interrupting their work day with my nonsense.
I also feel the same and honestly think it will be a better film on a rewatch once I know what it is and can enjoy it for what it does well. Hopefully.
Immmmm fuuuugggggin staaabbbiiin here 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
The fact that this video has SO many likes proves that this is the average general consensus for the movie. LOL.
Bahahaha samara weaving in old. Incredible.
Ye laugh it up. I am now depressingly aware she was not in that film. Lol
I did like the motive it was understandable. Same as 2. Something about this film got me bored watching it. I was hoping for something close to the 1&2 with phones calls at the house and chase scenes. Ghostface was visible too much. I don’t know about this one.
Honesty I didn’t even notice Sidney wasn’t in this one. This and five are great.
I noticed her absence 😢
S5 and S6 was garbage, sadly.
Yeh that’s fair. I wish I felt that way.
@@Hellstothenaw hahah same. But I loved 5 which made 6 hurt even more.
If your not a fan of either this is really turning into a Star Wars sequel trilogy situation for you.
@@SpaceKrakenMedia lol perhaps. I will still be there on opening night for Scream 7 though. 😜
@@Hellstothenaw bahaha so true. that’s how they get u with great IPs! I will be too!!
I agree with alot.. if they do 7 will it be someone in Sam’s family then like her dad behind it? Lmfao
How you are for Jenna Ortega is exactly how I am/was for Neve Campbell since 1996
It's actually more like 3 in my opinion.
Not à surprise haha poor wes ..
And whitout Neve not a scream
You can’t really criticize something you’re not even willing to watch yourself.
But let's be real, this is just more of the same... again. And again.
Yeh that’s fair , did you enjoy 5? If you haven’t seen I feel that has the most to say about films and the current landscape and defs worth a watch.
The suspension of disbelief was at maximum stretch. I may give it another shot though it may grow on me.
@@glenis83 hahah that’s a pre fair thing to not love . I usually don’t mind that stuff I can always come up with some dumb reason why it works in my head, eg - she’s just totes in the zone and loving life ghostfacing’s so she has that mum picks up a car energy but for ghostfacing coz she’s a psycho lol
But nuh it’s real dumb and I’ve never thought about that til right now. Worst movie ever! Haha
Did we watch the same film, Quinn was awesome
Idk maybe we didn’t ? Who the hell is Quinn?
@@SpaceKrakenMedia the female killer
@@charlieclark9552 yeah I think the people that didn’t like this movie went in not wanting to like it bc no Neve
@@sketchtheparadigmyork1217 no
@@deadschooled comments say otherwise.
Sloppy script and weak execution. That’s how.
You guys nitpick way too much! This movie was great!! idk if guys like you expect an oscar type of film making but if you keep thinking like that then you're going to be disappointed each time .. and no it's not suppose to be a sequel to the first 4 Scream movies .. it's a sequel to Scream 5!! and yes it mimics Scream 2 because it's suppose to!! smh did we watch the same movie?? because it was more than clear to me that the killers were purposely trying to imitate Scream 2 the same way Richie and Amber were trying to imitate the original Scream .. am i the only one that caught on to that????!?!?!? smh this movie was great you guys! don't let people like this try to ruin the experience for you .. funny enough, it's fans like this that Mindy always talks about ..
Very sad we’ve reached this point where fans are blatantly defending what the series used to fight against
@@dylanprofeta2678 well phrased

Such an Epically bad take. Scream 6 was a really fun ride. To say otherwise is just.....A bad take. Haha
It’s the fans who don’t want the franchise to adapt that didn’t like this movie. Probably really just upset Sidney isn’t it it, and that it turned out to be good without her.
