I like how everyone just accepts that Eugene doesnt enjoy podcasts and they accept his boundaries and no one makes it a thing. I always admire their friendship

@@rockssocks201 they’ve said he’s not around much anymore because he’s pursuing passions outside of the TryGuys but that he’s still a member. It was announced that he’s voicing a character in a new Netflix movie Nimona.
@@rockssocks201 To be fair, they’ve all talked about having creative ambitions outside the Try Guys. He’s working on a lot right now and I think that’s great! He’s also still on as a producer and just because we don’t see him as much in front of the camera rn doesn’t mean he’s not involved.

I've actually been surprised by how little I miss Ned. I do wish the best for Ariel and hope that she's doing ok
it's like the only interesting thing about him was the fact that he tagged along a great group of friends that also helped him meet a great woman. but he's so hollow and he sought extramarital forms of affection.
@@gilbertjacobs3705 There are 2 things I cannot understand about Ned's behavior. First, if he wanted to have an affair why did it have to be with an employee of his company. Second why did he become so careless as to kiss Alex in front of so many people in public. From what I know people who have affairs are super discreet.
@@fc7307 not sure if you could tell but he wasn't the brightest of the bunch. and most of the cheating is on the cheater himself. the young woman also is to blame since she also cheated in her relationship as well. And some people just flaunt their cheating thinking there's 2 million people in the city nobody would notice a minor celeb.

Ned legit was the most boring Try Guy. He sometimes brought good things to the videos, and those good things were Ariel and the kids.
@@JohnT_ yes! Keith, Zach, and Eugene are so interesting and funny. Keith does his comedy stuff and it’s great. Zach is/was doing his short film. Eugene is writing a book and doing Tv stuff. Meanwhile Ned was just….boring. I get he has kids but even before Finn and Wes he was so boring. Ariel is so fun to watch and listen to. Ned was meh
I’ve loved it so much! I love that they took it as an opportunity to be be like, ‘this is where we shift’. The content hasn’t been much different in terms of quality but they definitely seem more open to just posting whatever. In the wake of the whole controversy their editing team were fucking rock stars. I love seeing the 3 of them both continuing do to this and also working on solo projects.
The more I see of Zach, the more impressed I get. Just listen to the way he articulates his thoughts, and the quality of the thoughts he articulates. This is a smart man. And if I’m not mistaken, also an impressively emotionally well-adjusted man. Zach really snuck up on me over the years.
Me too! A lot of people have been bitching and calling him cocky, but he’s finally able to really show all his credentials and what a vastly interesting person he is and how much knowledge he has. I have been surprised as to how much he has grown on me. He is probably my favorite of the 3. I dream about hanging and smoking ouid with Keith and Zack. Just chillin.
Me too! I think originally (maybe harshly) his lack of confidence stood out to me, but he's continued to grow, take accountability & just doubled down on his unique strengths over the years. Him & Maggie seem like such a good couple & I admire how much he respects her privacy ❤️

The Try Guys are so often the “idiots” learning from an expert that it was interesting to fully dive into the ways in which they are experts at their craft. It makes me want to watch a try guys video flipped where regular people try making UA-cam videos and Zach and Keith are the experts.

I hear you, especially after watching this interview. The amount of thought they put into their craft is something to aspire to.
I relate to this observation as well. I've been in the Film / Digital industry for 5 years with an absolute love and passion for editing and I found this video so enlightening and encouraging while also being a cautionary and realistic deep dive. I wasn't that much of a Try Guys viewer prior however after how they handled all of the chaos of the past few years, I can definitely say that I have a deep respect for them as creatives and humans. I really hope to see them meet their creative goals and will enjoy watching their journey.
"Creative people aren't consistent people" is one of the truest things I have ever heard about working creatively as somebody who does work in a creative field.

The SNL skit was definitely a blow in this controversy for Second Try. I hope the guys know that the skit demonstrated SNL's lack of professionalism and responsibility when it comes to sexual misconduct in the workplace. I read the comments on the SNL UA-cam and Twitter posts for this skit and the audience seems to recognize it. The older generation probably doesn't understand and that's disappointing. The older generation will soon forget about it and focus on the next scandal SNL skit.
I stopped watching snl all together after that. It was the final straw and just left such a gross taste in my mouth

honestly, i have never seen a video attempting to mock a group of people that has accidentally improved public opinion of that group of people instead more than that skit. i think most people knew right away that SNL was totally out of touch with reality
I'm older generation and this work place imbalance of power honestly doesn't seem like a huge deal to me. It's a bad idea sure, and in this case Ned was right to lose the job because his behaviour wasn't on brand. But in other cases, yes I'm still trying to get it
I didn't hate Ned, but he was always "the 4th guy" to me - not bad, not good, just there. Now that it's the three of them, it feels so much more authentic and full of life and depth.

Yes! They also were all polite enough to make room for Ned and he often took that time to say a whole lot of nothin. He frustrated me only because he dampened the authenticity of the group.
As a tryguys fan, I appreciate the fact that they don’t just “stick to the hits” and they actually make videos that are personally interesting to them and out of the ordinary for their regular content. I think it gives us a view into who they are and, because they care about it, makes it enjoyable to watch even if it’s not something that initially grabs my attention

Zach is so much more eloquent than I ever thought he would be. Not that I thought he wasn’t smart or that he was dumb; I just wasn’t expecting to see him speak so seriously and in such a gentleman-like manner. Idk.
I’ve gained a lot of appreciation for Zach since the trypod because of this!
It always bummed me out when people ragged on him for talking so much in the early pods, I wanted to hear from everyone too but I also really loved hearing from him to such great depths!

I know this will probably never be addressed directly- but I really miss Eugene’s presence overall. A lot of us gravitated towards the Try Guys as a foursome because of their unique personalities, and although I don’t really miss Ned’s contributions, I do feel something missing with Eugene constantly gone. I do understand that they all juggle other work outside of Try Guys and I also understand that Eugene may be involved behind the scenes, but I feel something is lacking lately. I appreciate them trying to fill in the gaps with other guests, but Eugene is one of the main faces of the brand. Just my opinion as a longtime viewer

agreed; i know they’re trying to maintain their individual careers and ensure they have a continuing path because youtube is 100% not guaranteed to last (or work specifically for them) forever, but it DOES sometimes feel like the changes post-ned made the try guys… not the try guys anymore. there’s very little content mirroring the lineup of the past, nor much that has all three guys, and like. i loved their vibe together & how they bounced off each other, the difference is stark
I think it was addressed pretty directly at about 35:00 minutes in! Eugene was in videos last month just not the most recent ones and they touch on why that is!
I've had this very same thought. I don't think the scandal was the only hit to his involvement in Try Guys but I do think it made him emotionally less invested.
Eugene is one of the most successful people, on media other than Social media, to leave Buzzfeed beaten only by Quinta. He's voice acting, writing 2 books, acting in movies. If you miss him, go consume that media and support him. The fact he still stays involved in Try Guys at all is impressive as hell to me because I have no idea how he fits it in around all the other stuff he does.
Are we gonna glance over the fact that Ned's college buddy is a writer for SNL? No wonder the sketch came out the way it did.. Anyway, the guys seem to be in a really good place after the betrayal by their so called friend, and they handled it perfectly in my opinion. This is pretty fucking conspiracy theory level. Yale is a comedy feeder school (as is Harvard). The majority of SNL's writers are from Harvard/Yale. Ned went to Yale, so duh people have a common school. There's also no evidence they were actual friends.

21:00 Zach could not be more wrong. The Try Guys are NOT in the season after Michael left because that character was beloved and Ned was like losing Pam's annoying ex-boyfriend. He was always the weakest link and I cannot believe how their content has just BLOOMED since then. Is it a chaotic bloom, 100% but truly I've loved it because I know that it's ultimately, at its core, wholesome and safe, and that's a north star I want to follow. I was 26 when I found you all and I'm still holding on and so excited to see what you all have for us because if you think the past year was "after Michael"...holy hell and f*ck yeah!
I wouldn't compare him to Pam's annoying ex-boyfriend, though. I miss the four of them together, tbh, including Ariel, the Try Moms, and the Try Wives. So yeah, sometimes the channel seems off, and you can tell by the view numbers-they don't lie. I hope the channel keeps growing and getting better, but yeah, I still miss the old times.

That being said, as someone who just recently got back into try guys after the Ned scandal, I think they’ve been doing a great job with all of the changes they’ve had to make in the past year. I’m really enjoying the Try Guys extended family and, honestly, it doesn’t feel off to me at all. It’s just different.
I felt high key devastated and betrayed when the Ned scandal broke and I was like “the try guys will never be the same and I don’t know if I can continue watching them” but tbh 9 months later I don’t miss him at all and I’m really digging the Zach and Keith era that pulls in the rest of 2nd try. It was definitely an evolution for the better and while the joy that og era try guys brought me will always hold a special place in my heart-the content you guys put out has grown with me and I’m grateful for it
@27:50 I was so disappointed (should have expected it though) with SNL. But LOVED how Instagram roasted SNL on their post of this video. It was so pro Try Guys and called out how disconnected SNL was from what happened. Zach and Keith are so eloquent and honest in their discussion of everything that happened. It is so genuine and not concerned with looking good...which ultimately makes them look good. Triceratops for life.

Ned is not Michael. He was the least favorite before he left and I have not seen a single comment saying that anyone misses him or that anyone thinks the quality of your videos has tanked. I think you’ve pivoted so well.

@@SanskarWagley Thank you! I thought I was the only one who noticed. Like, I don't miss him either per se, but it is noteworthy that everyone decided after he left to suddenly reveal that they think he was always creepy all along and no one ever liked him. :p
I actually do miss him at times, but it feels like anyone who says that gets instantly dogpiled, so it's just not generally worth it to say anything. Some of my favourite jokes were his - the whole bit about being an acting coach for playing furniture was hilarious!
I do think it was right to remove him, and I don't want him to come back, but that doesn't mean I don't miss his humor.

I just realized how good Zach is at explaining things. He's an excellent public speaker. Plus he's just really pleasant to listen to cuz he has such good tone of voice. Keith on the other hand is excellent at performing in front of camera. It's so interestng how they contrast each other!! Loved this interview.

The only thing I miss about Ned is Ned and Eugenes dynamic together and how competitive they were compared to Keith and Zach. Now Ned is gone and Eugene is hardly there. I’ve been watching from the beginning and it IS different. I love them just the same. And I miss Ariel. I hope she and the boys are well.

I've been a casual try guys fan since their first video on Buzzfeed. I'm the same age as the guys so it's been neat to kind of grow with them. I didn't start considering myself a REAL fan until the pandemic when I really switched to watching youtube rather than other streaming services. Having been around that long, I absolutely love the growth and honesty they've shown since the "event of 2022". While a terrible situation, I think it really springboarded the remaining guys and the rest of 2nd Try to push their content to the next era. Losing Ned seemed necesary because he seemed to be the toxic masculinity that fans didn't need. I hope someday Ariel can make a return because fans truly do care for her, but she also deserves her privacy and healing. But I feel that 2nd Try really went about it the right way and I'm so excited to see what content they put out. I love seeing them learn and fans learn with them. They are powerhouses on the platform and I hope they stay around and produce content for a long time, regardless of how it has to grow. Much love to Keith, Zach, Eugene, and all the rest of 2nd Try!

while I agree that Ned needed to leave for what I did, I don't like this narrative developing that Ned is and always was the toxic male. He was the more competitive, sporty person, stereotypically family man which i think a lot of people related to and what made him great was that he was this guy and wasn't afraid to go out of his comfort zone, try more "non-manly" things ( i use those terms because lack of better ones). Basically he was the stereotypical MAN that actively broke the stereotype. which is why is SO angering that this happens. It just makes it disappointing
The way Zach and Keith look at beach other as the other one speaks is so telling. You can just feel the love and the bond within the Second Try community. They’re going to do great things!
Can you interview their editors? For ex, there is YB Chang and she is a creator herself.

i miss ariel so much, especially on the “you can sit with us” podcast! i do hope she has found peace with all of this. and hope that the relationship between her and everyone else in the try guys was not ruined/done with.
my two obervations:
1. try guys give a ted talk would be amazing and
2. zach has a ghost files/watcher water bottle!
And what’s interesting is a new series of Ghost Files is returning soon 😅
I have watched every TryGuys video since everything went down and I've never loved their content more. It feels safer and more authentic and I really value that. I'm proud of where they've gotten and where they're going.
I also love that Kwesi and Johnny have become integral pieces of the TryGuys. I'm especially excited to see them more too. Everything seems genuine now and I absolutely love all of it.

100% agree! Ik they did their own heritage in the past but that would be interesting
no. and I'll tell you why: they did do a video where they teamed up with one of those genetic companies. Eugene, who has stated repeatedly that he's Korean descent, was found to be half Japanese. He was very confused. I think, as an American, his brain didn't immediately ping to Japan's century long conquest and colonization of Korea. Now, to be fair, it could be that the company didn't have enough information at that point. But as an Asian person who grew up being told all about Japan's colonization of China (some of my family is originally from Nanking/Nanjing), that's where my brain immediately went. I don't know if that's something they want to touch.

I feel like Keith’s skin is always so well moisturized and GLOWING now that Becky has him doing a skincare regime. I’m honestly jealous lol.
Really love how intentional and methodical they are in creating their videos. I knew they had a background in film and theater but the professionalism is really coming out in this episode.
I was pretty upset by SNL's portrayal of the Try Guys' situation and have watched very little of the show since. Like Keith said, there was one person they didn't poke fun at, and that just seems backward (although due to the seriousness of the scandal it shouldn't be made fun of at all imo).
Idk i think comedians are allowed to roam with their jokes…. as long as there’s a witty punchline lol respectfully they could’ve even gone further with the angle that they took (apologizing for Ned) if they had some kind of a punchline with another actor pretending to be Ariel, and the kids getting exploited for Ned to make money like the ace family or something (rheres soemthing there with month Lopez too and how they’re all the same, money hungry) but they’re too out of touch to land it
@Ellison Rounsavill yeah to me the problem was ned clearly did something wrong, and I could understand poking fun at how much it blew up, but to not criticize ned at all was pretty telling imo. Like your example would have still ended up criticizing which imo was a very crucial missing piece, idk how they looked at an affair and decided it was just people upset a friend didn't tell them he kissed someone

That's why the try guys reacted the way they did, because it put the business at risk and the business is their livelihood. And yeah the response from the audience was huge, but that's parasocial relationships for you.

i think keith’s analogy of how we (the majority of fans, not assuming for everyone) felt when we found out what ned did. it was shocking because they had always been so genuine so to find out one of them was not even close to who he presented himself to be… it was maddening 😢

I know Keith said that they've already tried everything and I don't think they're ever going to run out of things to try. I definitely look forward to seeing how they incorporate other people into their videos trying new things. Maybe they've tried some of those already if not all, but I would love to see them try acapella, choir, yoga, kid's entertainer (like a clown or reptile presenter), dancing swimmers, wood crafting, glass making, building a cabin, and more.

Except it isn't just about what fans want to see. It's about what they feel driven or inspired enough to do. If these activities don't spark any sort of anxiety or excitement or whatever for them, that spark will be missing from the content.
They've done 'dancing swimmers' in doing synchronized swimming, and they also did cabinet building without instructions.
I was initially not terribly happy with having other guys come in, but I've fallen for Kwesi and Johnny Cakes.. I enjoy any content that includes them.
When the whole Ned news broke, I was devastated, but more concerned for Keith, Zach, and Eugene. Someone else’s actions will never overpower my love for those who were also harmed ❤️
For me "the event" renewed my interest in their content. I've been a casual viewer of the try guys since buzzfeed and remember watching the beginnings of their own channel. Occasional viewer in the beginning of the pandemic but I didn't really seek out their videos. Now i look forward to new videos every week. Love the podcasts and the main videos, especially seeing their team and friends joining in. I'm excited for what's to come from them
As someone who's been a Try Guys fan from the beginning, this was fascinating to listen to. I don't think I ever fully realized how intentional they are about everything they do, even though through listening to this it's clear that it needs to be that way. I hope that all their bigger dreams get fulfilled someday! I'd love to see a full movie that Zach directed.
@ 28:05 For context here: One of the writing credits on the SNL sketch belonged to a man Ned has stated MULTIPLE times was a friend of his due to them attending Yale together.
Essentially: Ned literally got an old college buddy with connections to use the sketch as a smear campaign to make light of his actions and lash out at his former friends which is why--as Keith mentions--Ned is entirely missing from the sketch itself and is never named in it.
Pretty much told me all I needed to know about him both as a creator and a man. No surprise that most of the Tryceratops don't miss him. 😂🎉
Hearing them talk about the edit structure and having watched YBs videos for behind the edit, it's so nuts. Being a Triceratops myself who is only an end user - I know that this is an art and hard work and a passion for them. However, the levels to it, I truly don't think about. This was a really great conversation.
I love what Keith said about not watching every single episode of everything you love. I don’t watch every try guys video, but I love them and when something does catch my attention, I then catch up on whatever I’ve missed in the meantime.

I love this. I really appreciate how Colin and Samir definitely researched, thought out great and interesting questions and had great back and forth with Zach and Keith. This is my first time on their channel but if all their interviews are this good, I'll be back. I normally don't have the attention span for such a long video!
I like videos/segments "cut" by Zach K. His ideeas are interesting, the rhythm is unpredictable and his narration is a fresh type of funny. I'm glad Try Guys overcame the trying times and are so enthused by the project's future. ❤

I always thought/knew the TryGuys would end up with only three members but not because of scandal. I legit thought Eugene would outgrow the brand or become too busy pursuing other projects to devote time to it. Although the latter is somewhat true, I'm glad he's still apart of the team.

Ned was on my radar as disingenuous for the last 5ish years. So even with the nostalgia of the Try Guys, the way it's running now, feels more genuine than it has ever been.
I think Ned was dragging it down and I'm very very thankful that he fucked up (to an extent).
It allowed them to grow and expand as a company and to do creative things that they never would have done prior.
This channel is so cool, ive been watching it grow impressively quickly in the past 2 or so years. Keep it going guys, love your content
Zach has always been my fave try guy. I love seeing how much his natural intelligence has made him such an empathetic and passionate business person, artist, and entertainer. I think he is often underestimated but this interview really shows his maturity that exists alongside his natural youthfulness.
I don't technically miss Ned- him being gone has allowed me to realize that he was the piece that kept me liking the Try Guys, instead of loving them (as a group. I enjoyed them individually.)
But I do miss him, because I miss the friendship between the four. I miss believing in that.
When I look back at videos where the three are showing genuine connection and consideration for Ned... It still sucks, to me. These guys lost a friend, someone they trusted, because he cared less about them then they did for him. It makes me mad... But it also makes me sad. It's such a betrayal.
I think everything ultimately ended up better than before... But it would have been much preferred if he left without breaking their hearts.

I definitely was surprised by some of my own emotions during the “event”, I still refuse to watch anything with the other guy in it, so I completely understand the fear how that feeling could sink the whole channel.
The way the guys handled the event with such genuine integrity made me a fan, rather than a passive watcher. Theyve earned the space to figure their future direction.
I loved how Keith and Zach were so willing to breakdown how they're running the company and also really appreciated how they recognise seniority does not equal a good manager. Nah, not fair to say that this is the period of the Try Guys after Michael left. Their content is as good as ever, it's not downhill from here. Especially if they really start standing up for content. Ned is no Steve Carell.

I've never seen you guys before, but I follow Try Guys content wherever it leads and I must say this was an amazing interview! It was fascinating to see them talk about the business side of things so in depth and talk about their past issues which they've mostly just brushed over on their own channel. I wish Keith would've talked a bit more, especially when Lewberger was brought up, but Zach does seem like the one who enjoys talking about the nitty gritty details and carrying the conversation, I've noticed he does it on The Trypod too and I think it's neat that he has so much to say and share, and that Keith seems happy to just let him talk and focus on other details. Love them both and of course while we all miss Eugene, we are happy that he's doing things he finds fulfilling and will grow his career even if that means we see him less. I've been a fan since the Buzzfeed Days and I'll always watch the fantastic videos they and the team produce. Thanks for hosting such a great long form conversation. Loved this interview, such fantastic questions. Really enjoyed seeing Zach talk through all the answers so passionately. It really does show his love for directing and producing because he wants to make and be known for his art. Really great insight to the amount of work that goes into making a video.

I always enjoy these genuine conversations with Zach and Keith, it deepens the level of respect I have for them as artists and professionals. The concept of empowering employees vs holding power over them resonated w me. The longer I navigate my own career, the more I find that passion and support from others in my field yields the best work. I’m happy to see others having that approach in shifting the respective roles within their companies, it gives me hope that other industries can shift to this mindset of accommodation in the future.

I have never missed Ned, but I do miss Ariel and hope she’s alright. In terms of the parasocial relationships between the audience and the Try Guys, I think I’m guilty of that for sure, I’ve been watching them as long as I can remember, I think they were a coping mechanism for me all through middle school, high school, and no applying for my masters degree.
This is actually deeply interesting in a way I didn’t expect. Like of course I clicked it because ~try guys~ but they’re touching on a lot of things I wasn’t expecting and I really appreciate hearing them speak on it. It just goes to show, no matter how much content they put out there’s always topics I can hear them continue to discuss endlessly and new things for us to get their take on.
