honestly, the fact that jonny clearly did his research and made sure to emphasize to zach to get sugar not salt is already top tier mentorship lol
His research consisted of being subjected to eating Zach's abominations lol
But even that did not prepare him for shell or no shell, he knew he was short on time and even then spent part of it trying to find out when zac had ever eaten an egg shell on purpose
I think he was the superior chef! Jimmy should have known the cake wasn't a good recipe for the time allotted.

Jonny was REALLY smart about how he spoke to Zach in this one. He threw out all convention and asked Zach what HE called things, and then came to him on his level. Loved it!

It reminded me of how you’re supposed to work with kids to get them back on track. Don’t focus on correcting superficial mistakes, just help them get it done!

Nobody’s even talking about the “Zach’s a size queen” thing. Like legitimately one of the funniest parts of any video I’ve seen in a long time. The chef having to explain what it is, the slow realization on the other chef’s face, the absurdity of that being the topic of conversation during a cooking competition. It was perfect!
and the Try Guys lore that Zach is hung just sends me😭😭
It’s also made funnier when it’s thrown in between shots of Keith and Zach stressed over the baking.

Johnny’s ability to work with Zach is honestly so impressive. That’s not me saying that Zach seems difficult to work with, but rather Johnny’s asking Zach what he calls certain mixes and referring to them by Zach’s names from then on and double checking with him to make sure he didn’t grab salt instead of sugar and things like that. That’s an excellent way to teach someone and guide someone and I just think it’s very impressive he’s able to pull that off and have the patience for it.
I’m trying to pretend I’m not home so I have to be quiet, but Jimmy’s “nooOOOOOyeEEEesSSs… mY mAStErPIecE, eXAcTlY wHAt gOD iNtENdeD” absolutely sent me so now I’m in a wheezing fit 🤣🤣

I hope they make more with other chefs, but I vote that Jimmy and Johnny be a regular pairing of competing chefs.

Black forest cake would acually be perfect for Eugene, because the traditional identifying ingredient is cherry schnapps. It is literally a recipe MADE for Eugene. Bake cake, dredge in schnapps, put schnapps in cream, dunk cherries in schnapps, add cherries to cake, serve. The recipe in the video is literally just a devil's food cake with cherry decoration. Not what it's supposed to be.

I know this is an old comment but a Michelin Star is awarded to a restaurant not a chef. So it's a misconception when people say michelin-starred chef. When the chef leaves, the award stays with the restaurant and they don't bring it to their next employment

I was screaming at the screen when everyone was disappointed about the appearance because I think the guys did a great job. Zach didn't even know what he was doing and Keith was able to keep the cake together.

I came to rewatch this one after the new one, and I still cannot fathom how Jonny lost after Keith put *entire bars* of baking chocolate on the outside of his cake.
I love this series. I love the devastated look of the professionals after they saw the result from their "students". I want to see more of these too. Not just food but like sewing, building, etc. All the sorts of stuff they never tried before.
But food will always be the best 😂
The sad thing is that this video made its way to my top 5 try guys videos of all time because it's legitimately hilarious and I really do believe it's among the funniest videos the guys have ever released. The format? The interactions? The jokes all landing perfectly? Everything is just *chef's kiss* but now it seems like nobody is acknowledging this so they can just comment on how Ned was edited out
