@@userabcdef6436 While this argument might work when dealing with your sister, it does not work with big creators on the internet. If the creator decides not to put their own words into the world, then all the people can do is imagine using what they've generally heard. If there are those spreading false or bad claims it'll only help to push the people without an opinion onto the wrong side. Whether or not they fully believe it, due to a lack of facts or otherwise is left up to each individual with is a dangerous choice. I think his tone was clearly honest, showing how upset he was, and gave the facts of the matter to let us make our own choice. And thank you @ludwig for all the charity work it's really appreciated among those who see it.
It’s hilarious to think that there might be people who have been eagerly waiting for this video demanding he makes this video and thinking his career is on the line and this is the first time half of us are hearing this
When I watched the announcement video yesterday, my only thought was that the title was actually anti-clickbat; I don't think the zoomers know what GDQ is and the boomers just assume every three letter acronym is a trade stock. Even if the event only consisted of Ludwig and 20 Ludwig clones, who cares? Comparing charity to the job market is ludicrous.

if you dont use twitter 7 hours a day, you'll find nothing wrong with the roster. im not white, and i was genuinely excited for this event and loved everyone on the roster. not for one moment did i stop and think "why is it only white guys my race is being misrepresented". its a charity event for gods sake, not a disney movie.
oh hey sorry, im gonna say "you" a lot in this comment but i dont mean you specifically. just like "you" as in general, people or person. sorry but i dont wanna go back and correct it all but also dont wanna come off as insulting on a personal level. i mean, why do disney movies even need to promote diversity? i mean i understand diversity is important but for a company that tells stories i dont think diversity is more important than the quality of the story. so yea like im a straight white guy right, brother and southern blood in me. gotta say ive never had any trouble relating to a character thats black or asian or gay or anything else on the checklist. i think anyone that needs to see their race in order to feel some degree of attachment is them themselves the racist. like obviously i understand different cultures have different histories and different lifestyles, different things that will appeal to them. im not talking about that, im talking about somebody like frodo baggins. if you cant relate to him just because of his skin color how does that not make you racist?
@andrewhasonenut5869 I completely agree with you. They force diversity down our throats and sacrifice actual great storytelling and characters because all of a sudden you need the same skin color to have a connection to a character. I'm a woman and can relate to male characters as well as characters who are a different race than I am. A lot of it is seen as tokenism to me and not actually genuine. Like when they make a character who has been straight for 4 seasons all of a sudden bi sexual or gay. I can't think of any gay to straight characters though. The world is weird and weirdos are latching onto even a little power wherever they can. Some admit to adding nothing to a project except to make sure it's diverse. Some admit to wanting to make the already established audience uncomfortable simply because they do not like the original story and are somehow in charge of the reboot. It's to the point now that whenever something is announced from a beloved IP, we expect it to be butchered for diversity and blue haired weirdos who then tell us the piece of media wasn't created for us(even though we are the built-in fanbase they used to greenlight their project) while simultaneously blaming us for it's failure. I wish we would be done with this and get back to some type of normalcy.
@@andrewhasonenut5869my guess as someone who is incredibly unaware about racial bias, it is harder to relate as a minority, when you notice every person in a media is white. Especially when there isn't any reason for it to just be white people. But hey thats just a theory
@@andrewhasonenut5869 I hate it when it's forced but as a kid I never saw any representation of mu culture apart from in racist ways. I would have loved to see an Indian Disney princess. Disney appeals to so many different people so it would make sense to include stories from those cultures. Half of the white Disney movies aren't even based off Americans. My fav Disney movie is princess and the frog, not only because it's so cute and amazing but because it teaches children in a subtle and respectful way that judging people is not ok (reffering to the scene where they tell tiana that people like her- reffering to her race/gender- shouldn't progress) a kid won't know that that is what it's reffering to, they'll think it's because it's tiana. It's a subtle message that as one gets older they understand. Representation is important as not only does it help appeal to many people-which increases profit-but it could help people like younger me who was bullied for being indian to feel proud and happy. Seeing just white people everywhere especially in a country that is so diverse whilst also being exposed to mass prejudice based off my skin colour definitely affected me and made me feel like everything about me was wrong. Hope this gives an insight as to why we should have Disney princesses from other races and cultures and stuff.

I hate when people hate on and spread drama about a creator without all the information. Ludwig stated multiple times before this video that the “Featured Speedrunners” were not final and that he was working on getting more speedrunners for the event. I'll first say that the responsibility shouldn't have been put on Ludwig to platform marginalized creators. At the same time, the reality of the situation is that this sort of thing happens because people in general tend towards other people who are similar to them. I think what twitter was trying to say (in a very unnecessary aggressive manner) was that because Ludwig was a big creator, and thus the host of this event, he should have recognized his position of privilege and used the opportunity to platform marginalized creators like women and POC. Let's remember that lots of research shows that relatable representation results in higher numbers of marginalized groups joining and participating. This is a good thing for any community that wants to grow and prosper. However, this twitter outrage conveniently hides the real crux of the issue which is that it shouldn't have been on Ludwig only to make these decisions. It should've happened collectively; people already in the speed running genre taking a step back to reflect, realize how gatekeep-y they have been, and made an effort to check out more marginalized speed runners. But that takes work and serious self-reflection. Instead, like with any other issue, they see Ludwig's event and target all their hate there because it's easy and they face no consequences for their words 🤷🏻♀️

its a charity event for gods sake, not a disney movie.
oh hey sorry, im gonna say "you" a lot in this comment but i dont mean you specifically. just like "you" as in general, people or person. sorry but i dont wanna go back and correct it all but also dont wanna come off as insulting on a personal level.
i mean, why do disney movies even need to promote diversity? i mean i understand diversity is important but for a company that tells stories i dont think diversity is more important than the quality of the story.
so yea like im a straight white guy right, brother and southern blood in me. gotta say ive never had any trouble relating to a character thats black or asian or gay or anything else on the checklist. i think anyone that needs to see their race in order to feel some degree of attachment is them themselves the racist. like obviously i understand different cultures have different histories and different lifestyles, different things that will appeal to them. im not talking about that, im talking about somebody like frodo baggins. if you cant relate to him just because of his skin color how does that not make you racist?
@@magicfish8213 seems like a poor guess

This!! I had no idea there was "drama" about the event to begin with. I saw the video, thought oh that will be cool. I'll watch that when it's on. Then went about my day... But apparently people got mad. Then when I noticed it was twitter dwellers I remembered, I don't care what they think because they get mad at their own shadow if it means more interaction on their tweets.

It’s cringe you even have to explain yourself on this. People are so quick to jump to the extreme assumption. Especially on twitter. I mean... there's not many not-white skinny nerd guys in the speedrunning scene
That’s why Ludwig’s roster only has White Males 😅 it’s a product of the environment. Not his fault

@@princessdollgfExactly I have like a lot of Asian friends, Indians, nepalese, chinese, etc. I also have a lot of white friends. So, my event would consist of my friends nobodies fault and nobody should be mad at that unless they’re a snowflake.
I think we just live in a world where everyone assumes malice and bad intent in every single scenario. We're all online too much, and we're seeing the worst of the world. Even on lovely, happy videos of animals or families, I have seen the comments section switch from positive to very negative in a short time-span.
Honestly, when I saw the line-up, I had the same thoughts, but I also remembered how socially responsible and effortlessly inclusive Ludwig has been over the years, and my frustration disappeared.
This is one of those times, where even though the event is objectively good - people can't help but find the bad. We just live in that kind of world now, and I hope one day everyone will just take a breath, smell the roses, and relax.

Same with the entire mrBeast curing blind people thing. Like I don't think a single one of those people care if it's for a video if they get their blindness cured for free. He aims to be a one take jake. He just doesn’t want to edit with multiple jump cuts in a video so he tries to nail it as if he was talking to a livestream audience.
This is reminding me of the time MrBeast had "drama" on twitter and everyone was saying how he was a bad person for curing people's blindness. Twitter is wild
Honestly I wish creators would just ignore crap like this. These people aren’t even worth thinking about let alone making a video of. It shows how ridiculous they are when you say “I am holding a charity event!” And they IMMEDIATELY try to think of a way to shame you.

@@mar-nyan if people dont know Ludwig and his events then they should realise they’re not in a position to comment about perceived fears of diversity though, and that is the problem.
People are hunting out diversity issues that aren’t there and that is a problem because it creates noise and confuses situations where there are genuine issues.
@@paul995 Nah, the problem is the optics. Ludwig's initial tweet made it seem like he was going to be doing a speed running event for speed runners. It was quite the whiplash to see the event announcement compared to that vague initial tweet. If he'd just announced it as a speed running charity event or been less vague in the initial tweet there really wouldn't be as much of an issue
As someone who is a woman (and used to dabble in speedrunning before carpal tunnel got me good), I ain't too upset.
