Generator Not Charging Battery? Testing Generator and Regulator on the 1959 Case 300 Tractor

- I finally get around to working on the charging system on the 59 Case tractor. Turns out the generator was burned up. WAY burned up. That's my luck! Both the armature and fields windings were complete shot per my rebuilder. Ill also show how to re-polarize your generator if it quits charging(maybe your engine sat for so long it lost its magmatism.) May work may not. But another system for the Case tractor is back online. YES!

Excited to see the case tractor back on the channel guy likes working on tractors much simpler than modern cars
Preach it! Well until I have to split cases. I know of 2 I have to split cases on. I think one is a 58 Case DC, and another is a Ford 3000 that I think they both have locked up engines I have to eventually work on here on this channel. Yay me lol
Yes had an album back in the 80s called "Big Generator". I can't imagine what made me think of that....maybe it was this video, who knows. 😅 Good job getting the charge back in this old girl! 👍😎
Love it love it! 😆
Very good job 👏 👍
Ah heck that regulator looks brand stinking new!
Right?! I’m thinking somebody had replaced the regulator and was hoping it would fix the charging system, but failed. My thoughts….
@@SwedeMachine wouldn't be surprised honestly.
They aren't grease caps, they are for engine oil and a few drops every __ hours... probably 25 or 50 or weekly... I don't have the manual. They used these as garden tractor engine starter/generators so they have a bit of torque to turn over a 12/14/16 hp engine. Not well or overly fast, but was cheap to take care of the start and keep battery charged job. They will charge a ton if the regulator not set well.... boil her out! Always good to have an electrical load to have that electricity doing more than poring into the battery... lights on or accessories (especially if she's charging hard in the 15v or more range... hard on the battery...
Copy that. Yeah I misspoke on the grease caps. Oil caps indeed would be the correct terminology. How about lubrication caps? Ha ha. Yeah, I think the lights hooked up or something would work for a proper load. More chlorine to do yay haha🙃
I like all tractor's 🚜
Oh, and she's a Case 300B... the round nose from 56 to 59 was the original 300... the same chassis and 95% the same tractor I think beyond the sheet metal difference... quite reliable tractors none the less. Good luck progressing the project.
Yaya! Technically a 311B but you got it! One day I hope to do farming content so cart before the horse? Rather tractor before the Implement?😀🤪
@@SwedeMachine Please do more content and the 311B specifically. Luv those Case tractors. Nice service truck too....
Absolutely we will and thank you much. 🤘🏼✌🏼😉
Nice work, although I'd clean the two harness ring terminals before attaching them to the nice new and clean generator terminals, sort of what you attempted on the regulator and battery terminals. The only thing I didn't like was the hack-job on the battery terminals.
Its still a work in progress for sure. Thanks for watching
Oh yeah I just looked and yup I forgot to clean the generator terminals. My bad.
I probably just missed it, but when you were bench testing the field pole, what was the green wire hooked up to? Awesome to see the Service Rig in action. Great video, thank you.
The green wire was also hooked up to the positive side of the battery. Most welcome😃
👍
Was this the first outing of the service rig? Looking mighty fine there in the background.
2nd outing. The first was the 1991 olds 98😊
only thing that melts down is the user haha
Прикольная хрень клеммы чистить 😁
Looks like the Ol' girl is on it last legs ...from what it looks like she hasnt been took care of ...a sad case tractor .. Sigh " people just doesnt care anymore ...anywho ..good job though 😀
Eyyy I saw what you did there haha! 10/10. Yeah it wasn't treated nice back in the day. Almost left to rot I think. Makes me happy we are shaking the cobwebs off =)
