    After receiving and using the Yeti Hopper 30, we didn’t think our cooler life could get any better. We were wrong. The Yeti Hopper Flip 12 is the perfect addition to any family and you’ll find yourself using it all the time. If you work or do anything where you need to pack and take your lunch everyday, the Flip 12 is absolutely the best lunch box anyone could ask for.
    Typically, when we head out skiing, we pack a lunch for the drive home from skiing. It really started grossing Tyson out when his meaty sandwiches would get warm while we were skiing. The cheese for my cheese and crackers would literally sweat (I didn’t realize cheese did this). It was nasty and made my hands oily. Our drinks would definitely get warm on those sunny Colorado afternoons. Most days we were just hungry enough to eat the warm food and drink but we knew all along it was nasty.
    Now, with the Flip 12, we can pack our lunch and eat it too. With the traditional Yeti Hopper features built in, the Flip keeps your food and drink cold for hours and days on end. On our most recent trip to the Utah desert, our picnicking stepped up from below mediocre to fancy. I was packing our Flip 12 full of hummus and veggies, sandwich makings, even Reese’s peanut butter cups. We had no trouble with things melting or getting warm even when temperatures were creeping into the 80s.
    While the Coldcell™ insulation does an amazing job of keeping the inside of the cooler cool, the fact that the Flip is entirely leak proof and waterproof, and extremely durable adds to the love affair of the cooler. You can literally throw the Flip on anything and it will withstand the abuse. We’ve most recently thrown it on the back of a motorcycle for our daily adventures. Motorcycles are notorious for ruining perfectly fine gear but after multiple days on the back of the bike, the Flip still looks good as new.
    We love the shape of the Flip for daily adventure outings and it easily packs into spaces and ties down onto surfaces. The shape is also perfect for a little sandwich making table and makes your picnic experience that much more enjoyable. We also love that the entire top zips open (be careful not to let too much air in, too often) and it is extremely easy to see all of your contents. We were definitely surprised by how much we can actually fit into the Flip. You’ll be surprised.
    The Hydrolok™ zipper will be reassuring upon closure. Not only will your items stay cold throughout the day, if you have a spill or two, there won’t be any leaks into your car/boat/lap/back of the moto/bicycle.
    Our favorite thing about the Flip, aside from the fact that it houses all of the standard and amazing Yeti features, is that we use it all the time. The size is perfect for the two of us on our daily outings. Don’t get me wrong, the Hopper 30 is sweet but it’s just not something we use everyday. Something that we have recently been turned on to is Yeti Ice. Yes, it’s just as amazing as every other Yeti product we’ve ever tried. Even though you won’t be buying nearly as much ice when you own a Yeti as you had to before, Yeti Ice is the perfect alternative and in the long run will save you a ton of money. The 4-pound block fits perfectly in the bottom of the Flip 12 and eliminates a ton of mess and hassle.
    If you’re looking to take your lunch box and or picnicking game to the next level, look no further than the Hopper Flip 12. It’s the perfect size, shape, and works seamlessly like all other Yeti Hoppers we’ve tried. Be sure to pick up a chunk of Yeti Ice as well as a Tumbler if you really want to excite your lunch life.

    The key to the flip 12 and all the other yeti coolers as well is having the yeti ice pack. Absolute must. But another key is, putting loose ice cubes in on top of the yeti ice pack. That’s the trick. The loose ice will mold itself onto the yeti ice pack. 90 degree weather 12 hours later all ice is still there. Before I got the yeti ice pack, the cooler was basically useless. Kept nothing cold. Called yeti and they recommended the ice pack and loose ice. Worth every penny of the $250 now.

    Thanks for this review. I was wondering what size yeti ice block would fit! I have that ice block already now I know it will fit when I get this.

    Why would you have the ice block on the bottom of the cooler? Cold air falls...

      Because it fits perfect. Then I add my contents on top of it and then add another one on top. Now everything is incased in ice and it'll stay cold for a week.

      We are still using this today and it's still in phenomenal shape. Not worn out at all and still looks fairly new except for some dirtiness.

    Can this be used as a dry bag for electronics like camera gear

    • @AdventureRig
      @AdventureRig  5 років тому +1

      I don't think I would trust it for electronics. I just wouldn't want to submerge it for long periods of time. If the zipper was not 100% closed you would be screwed. I really like dedicated dry bags for that purpose. But if you like it because it adds a little protection to your gear I'd at least put the gear into a dry bag and then into the cooler.

      No. If you need a dry bag for electronics, buy a dry bag for electronics. This is a cooler.

    Who else cringed when the cold wet food touched the sand. Now a layer of sand will be in the cooler.
