  • In Part 2 of the Yeti Flip 12 In-depth Review Series, we'll be seeing just how well the new Yeti Thin Ice performs compared to regular store bought ice. Yeti have engineered this stuff to replace the need for regular ice in their soft cooler range, but how will it go? Watch and see!!
Keep an eye out for Part 3 where we will be testing Yeti's Regular Ice Bricks, to see how they also compare to the Thin Ice, please like, subscribe and ring the notification bell, so you're the first to know when it's ready!

Its not supposed to replace the ice. Its used together with the ice to make cooler stay colder therefore the ice stays frozen longer.

Below is the description from when thin ice was released.
"YETI THIN ICE™ is a groundbreaking innovation designed to be nearly 50% slimmer than YETI ICE® and engineered to completely replace the need for regular ice inside your Hopper Flip® soft coolers and DayTrip® Lunch Bag and Box."
Yeti have since changed the description to "ice supplement", but that's not how it was originally marketed.

I also agree, for YETI ice to work to it's full potential it works best with ice, not as a stand alone.

@DIONIS GARCIA I'm not disputing that.
Read my comment above, whe it was released Yeti stated "designed to replace the need for regular ice" and I was putting that to the test.
Conveniently they look to have changed their marketing now and it doesn't say that.

Yes, the thin ice is designed for lunch boxes. The thicker one goes along with ice to keep the ice colder and last longer but in lunchboxes yetis recommends the thin ice for lunch boxes. They don’t recommend and adding ice and the yeti ice for a lunchbox.

Maybe i'm wrong but i think the thin ice pack is supposed ot be vertically inbetween the cans, not sitting horizontally on top. This way the ice pack is pressed against the cans the long way.

I haven’t seen anything that says use thin ice alone

It's on the Yeti website mate, direct quote below.
"YETI THIN ICE™ is a groundbreaking innovation designed to be nearly 50% slimmer than YETI ICE® and engineered to completely replace the need for regular ice inside your Hopper Flip® soft coolers and DayTrip® Lunch Bag and Box."

@@BarkersBBQ thanks for the info, I haven’t tried any of the thin ice without bagged ice, not sure longevity without bagged ice in precooled cooler, but I know thin ice in my flip with no ice may pull off a day staying zipped up all day
