Can you show us how you pack it? Hope to see what food and drinks you pack for your trips. TFS.

Adventure Rig 😍 Thank you haven’t seen anyone on UA-cam show how to pack a soft sided Yeti or soft sided cooler for the matter. I subscribed to your channel.

yeah I bought one a Yeti 20 put a dozen Gatorade bottles and a bag of ice it was on the back of my bike for six hours when we got to our destination almost all the ice was melted. I tried to take it back today and they told me they could not take it back because it was used really come on people. every review that I saw on the yeti with a positive review where they always had ice after 48 hours. My question is how and why did you guys all have ice in my ice was melted just don't understand it. Now I have the 30 ounce tumbler that was in my saddlebag and I dumped ice out of it this morning that little $30 Tumblr kept us better than the yeti 20. conclusion save your $300 because the yeti 20 is not worth three hundred bucks to be honest if I knew what I know now I would not pay 30 bucks for the yeti 20

I think that's going to help your situation quite a bit. The Hopper is not a miracle worker and it does not defy the laws of physics. The ice is going to cool down whatever you put in the Hopper including the Hopper itself and the drinks. If neither are cold before hand you're going to lose all your ice. It has a nice instruction booklet that includes a bunch of tips.

just bought one for 300 bucks at bass pro... Went on a float trip 3 hours in nothing but cold water, 4 hours in water was hot. This is a 300 dollar piece of shit. I'm selling it in a yard sell and getting a 60 dollar Ozark trail cooler from Walmart.

Hi sparky. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Did you read the instructions on how to properly use it? I've had nothing but success with mine.

+Adventure Rig in all honesty I just threw a 12 pack of Pepsi and filled it up with ice. is there something else I should do?

The key to keeping the ice from melting is to have the cooler and the food already cold prior to putting items in the cooler. If you take a cooler out of the shed where it's 75 degrees and add a 12 pack to it that is also warm, the entire bag of ice will melt as it tries to cool both the cooler which is hot and the 12 pack. In an ideal situation the cooler and food will be cold before adding the ice. I keep the cooler in the garage which never gets too hot. If I could fit it in the freezer I would honestly put it there first before filling it with food. Make sure your food is also cold before putting it in.
In our camper the manufacture states to run the fridge/freezer for 24 hours prior to adding food. The camper fridge also states to have the food cold prior to putting it in. When I first bought a camper I was surprised by how much energy (and in your case ice) it takes to take warm items and make them cold. But even in a small camper fridge they want the items cold else it will take 3 days for them to actually get cold.
In different tests with the cooler I did exactly what you have done and my results were the same. The ice only melts though because of how warm the cooler and food is. If I load the cooler with a 2:1 ratio of ice to food I can keep the ice for at least 5 days (20lb bag) if everything is already cold. That is having the cooler in the sun and opening it 4-8 times a day.
If you can keep it covered by a towel your results should go up quite a bit.
Now obviously you may need to get in your cooler 20 times a day or maybe have it sit in direct sunlight while it is 100 degrees outside. If that's the case it won't keep ice quite as long but if you at least try to have the cooler cold as well as the food prior to use I think you'll be happy with the result.
I compared the cooler to a cheap one and found with everything the same (all I had in the cooler was a bag of ice) this cooler kept the ice for an extra 2 days longer (for a full 5 days).
I won't dispute the fact that it's expensive because it is. I wish it was cheaper but the build quality in my opinion is definitely top notch and I can see it will last for a very long time.
Try it out again before you sell it and see if you have different results. It's not a miracle worker but like I said I've been very happy with mine.

I did use already cold cans, but I see what your saying about keeping the cooler cold too. I'll try it again and thank you for your suggestions!

Sparky.....ya may want to see how cheap and leaky that Walmart cooler is. Stereotypical Wallys World product. The liner leaks into the interior, so you have a sloshy bag of wet. I got two "super deals" on Yeti 40's on Ebay and use mine on my charter boat daily. The bench mark has been set yet again, with these in my opinion.
