  • YETI Coolers has many more coolers than just the larger ones. YETI smaller coolers, like the YETI Roadie, YETI Hopper and YETI Flip series, all offer different benefits.
I compare the YETI Hopper Flip 12, the YETI Hopper Flip 18, the YETI Hopper M30 and the NEW YETI ROADIE 24. Ultimately, the side by side, yeti cooler comparison video, comparing the smaller coolers or the soft-sided coolers, with the quick review of the brand new YETI Roadie 24.
Each cooler has their place. What are the benefits and how would it fit for you?!
Is it big enough? Is it too small? Does it pack well? How well does it hold ice? How much can it hold? All these questions and more are answered in this side by side yeti cooler comparison video.

Derek Winn don’t do it. We just returned our M30.
      1) the magnets were a PITA to use. It was fine by myself using my nalgene bottlento hold it open but I don’t want to carry that around
      2) the shape sucked. It crushes stuff towards the top. You can lid a bunch of crap in the bottom but you run out of space REALLY fast because of the dumb shape of it.
Love my tundra and will probably buy a roadie 20 to replace the M30 we just returned. Looked at the flip 18 but it’s $300 and I figured the only benefit I gain from going that route was ease of carrying on a shoulder. However, I do not find that to be worth $100 plus the loss of other benefits from the roadie 20. Dry ice, larger capacity, more sturdy so we can stack on top of it, ease of draining if we use regular ice.

Good comparison, Dustin! We have an old Igloo that's about the same dimensions as the Roadie 24. I love the fact it can handle a tall bottle standing up, but didn't make it past 1 1/2 days of 80' heat and food was basically warm, not good, so we just bought the Roadie 24.
In 15 or so years we've had the old tall Igloo, or our Playmate, I have never wished it had a drain. I don't think a small cooler really needs one. By the time you load food and drinks in it, there really isn't a lot of room left for ice, so we tend to use a little ice mixed with Blue Ice freezer packs on top. Whatever ice melts leaves water only on the very bottom where the cans are anyways.
I will say that fitting the Roadie 24 in the space behind the front seat of our 4Runner is a no-go unless you move the front seat much farther forward, whereas our old Igloo fit perfectly.

The only downside to the M30 that I have found is loading it up. The magnet closing it shut can be a bit annoying, if you don’t have an extra pair of hands or something wedged inside to keep it open. On the other hand, not having to worry about people not closing the zipper is nice.

  • @DoritosResidue

You can fit a hell of a lot more in the m30 than people think. My usual is 1 4lb ,1 1lb of yeti ice on the bottom, 24 cans (bottom fits exactly 19 cans standing up), a 2 lb yeti ice on the top of the cans , dump in a bit of ice, then 10 Capri suns for the kids and top it off with ice . So I estimate 11 to 12lbs of ice alone since I always buy two 7 pounders and have some ice left in the bag . But damn is it heavy lol. I usually have it on a wagon anyway. That always gets me 58 hours of ice retention , a little more than 3 days of cold drinks which I tested quite a few times.
The roadie 24 you can also fit quite a bit. You can easily fit a yeti ice 4lb pounder 24 cans on top of that and some ice on top. If you don't use ice you can use another 4 lb yeti ice or ozark trail 4 pounder. Thats good enough for a day or two if you prechill your drinks. I never prechill my coolers though. If you use the recommended ice ratio of course you'll get more out of it.
With that said compared to the m30 my otterbox trooper lt30 actually gets better ice retention of 64 hours . It beats it by 6 hours....They both have the same 30 quart capacities. But I still choose the yeti, I'm worried about the otterbox latch breaking if some else operates it other than me. Yeti you just don't worry about it. But the exterior of both are exactly the same rugged materials. In my opinion for soft coolers the otterbox box trooper is the only one thats comes close to yeti as far as quality.

I just bought the Purple Roadie 24. I plan on getting an M30 next swimming season so the family can utilize it. It seems way too big for just lugging around a 12 pack.
