Same thing happened to me. Door lid would not stay shut. Thermostat was a year old. I'd come home from work and house would be freezing. It would default to some weird schedule. After 3rd time it happened I got a white rodgers with On, Off, Heat, Cool and fan. No more fancy thermostats for me.
The first thing I would do is check the batteries if my thermostat is dead I remember a guy bought a new refrigerator because the light bulb didn't work in the refrigerator he thought the refrigerator was dead he bought a new refrigerator took it home and then brought it back cuz when he got home he could hear the refrigerator running
Nothing wrong that thermostat. Someone changed the batteries and then didn't replace the battery holder like it needed to clip in as you showed. That was a waste of the owners money in my view.
Great video as always Mr Ted
That repair time was analogous to an 8 sec quarter mile. 👍
Always do good for people that are good to you!

Nice job Ted, it's pays to look after our close friends 👍 Au
More plastic short term stuff. Nice to know the diagnosis began outside...narrowed it down quick.
That was good and fast.
Quick on the spot diagnostic ✨⭐️✨

You're getting to be like the Lock Picking Lawyer - less than 5 minutes and done!
In-N-Out HVAC 😎👍
Did you replace the thermostat with the same type?
Those top fuel Harley guys are a different animal 😅 huge stones 😂
Getting any snow your way?
top fuel harley racer. his giant balls caused the thermostat to rattle and shake apart! 🤣 them things are like riding on top a live grenade
Need a thermostat that uses a common wire and batteries are only used to maintain settings memory when removed from the wall mount.
Easy money!!

What, no snow?
I wouldn't trust my heating on two AA batteries.
